320576 tn?1204087293 7 million and elevated ALT/AST) Unfortunatley he has been in and out of ER all weekened for what they think is Kidney Stones. At first they said lots of blood in urine but CT show no stones so they were going to admit. Then they come in and say they found a 3mm kidney stone, gave him a ton of meds and said to follow up with PC. But they also said he is developing an ileus which is some sort blockage or something and his liver felt enlarged and stiff (we go for Ultra Sound on Nov 19th.
Avatar f tn As long as it's under the watchful eye of the ER staff (nurses, doctors, etc), and they are fully aware of your past addiction, do not suffer. I get kidney stones all the time, and find myself in the ER about once a month (on average). I'd love to be able to tell you I Iron-Man it and do it without narcotics, but it's just not possible. Kidney stones are VERY painful, and no one ever said that just because you're in recovery, that you have to suffer.
Avatar f tn However is your dad okay now?Pain caused by stones in the kidney is usually intense, intermittent and radiating in character. If he did have a stone it is a good thing he has passed it-if he has. Keep an eye on him for above mentioned type of pain or any further complaints of passing blood in the urine. If so, visit your doctor.
Avatar m tn Sugar and salt can also increase the excretion of both calcium and oxalate in the urine, since you seem to form kidney stones, you should limit, or try completely eliminate, sugar and refined carbohydrates from your diet, and cut back a on salt. limiting your intake of meat, sugar, salt, and fruit juice. Try increasing dietary fiber, and include 10,000 units of vitamin A, 300 milligrams of magnesium citrate, and 100 milligrams of vitamin B6 every day.
216878 tn?1196041120 I am not saying this in a way that I'm better, or whatever, but I'll say it because you know me and will know how I mean this...if I can get through kidney stones w/out anything, you can get through this!!! I know we all have different pain tolerances, believe me hun, but I don't have much of a tolerance at all, and I'm a baby, but it really boils down to mind over matter!! Also, the things you have been through in life, and the trauma you've suffered...
393165 tn?1420764045 had intense cramping pain in side that wouldnt let up no matter what, outcome was kidney stones on opposite side??? puzzling as I have a kidney cyst on other side. Have been having kidney infections for past two months and no antibiotics work. Anyhow, Had a CT Scan, an Exray, injections in both side of my behind lol and a drip of fluid for dehydration, about 14 bags over 5 days or more!
Avatar f tn I've been having a lot of pain on my right side, front, back and side and the pain takes my breath away. I had CT scans and ultra sound to determine if I had kidney stones. Then they sent me for x-rays with contrast and I was told I had a floating Kidney. The nurse for his office said there was nothing that I could do for the pain. "Just deal with it". Wow how can I when the pain takes my breath away and the pain is so bad that I have to lay down in bed until it goes away.
230262 tn?1316649534 I've had kidney stones on and off since I was thirty. My brother had his first kidney stones in his early twenties. So rest assured it's not just age. :o) I know how very painful moving kidney stones can be. Have you been to ER? What did you discover? I'll forward to hearing from you.....and hope that everything went well at ER. Or at the very least your pain is controlled or ended.
Avatar f tn I have a nerve block on November 29th. It lasted 5 weeks. during this time I started getting pain in my kidney. I have a history of stones. I went to the hospital and they filled me full of morphine and then sent me home with a script for 10mg morphine. Did that ever make me sick, but I was fine a few days later. BUT,my urethra was hurting, this went on for about 4 weeks. On monday night I woke in pain but managed to go back to sleep for an hour. 3 am woke in excruciating pain.
Avatar m tn The only places you should feel any pain at all from the kidney stones, is in the ureters, if you're female. (the ureters are the tubes that carry your urine from the kidneys to the bladder). In Females, once the stone(s) reach the bladder, it should be no pain at all, and it doesn't take long at all for the stones to pass when you urinate, the stones will be carried out of the bladder, through the urethra.
Avatar n tn I have had kidney stones removed 4 time in the past 6 months..Now I have 2 small ones in my right kidney..My urologist says that they can't possibly be causing my pain..He refuses to give me pain meds and asked me to seek help from my primary care doctor..He suggusted I too had a cyst on my right ovary..Which by the way is impossible as I had that removed last year..UMMM ..ow what do I do?..I am in constant pain!!!!
Avatar f tn I have actual gallbladder stones but quiet for 2 yrs and that is how they better stay. I have numerous small stones in my kidney but most have cleared the past 2yrs ... the largest only 4mm. I am feeling decent for first time in years but I can relate to your pain. Definitely have it checked out with the new symptoms .. I am clueless on those ... heat works best for me, too and hot hot baths with long soaks ... It is draining. We are here for you Fran!!!!
Avatar n tn The key is for us, normal Vit D levels help put the calcium in the bones and not the urine. Too high Vit D however can result in more stones. Vit D level problems can often go along with MSK because of the many metabolic issues we have. Testing for it is very easy and most doctor's don't, so it important to ask. If your getting ready to go through more procedures etc this would be the time to have them test for it too!
Avatar f tn Urine showed visible blood. They said oh your probably having kidney stones. Ugh. Ct scan found no stones. They checked me then for cysts and gave me an ultra sound..came back negative. The pain was coming in waves with lots of pressure in my back. The nurse said my urine had some bacteria in it..but they doubted I had an infection. Today the pain is ALOT less but I can still see blood in my urine and there's alot of pressure in my back. Im going to see the urologist (sp?) today.
Avatar n tn I took her to the vet this morning, where they X-Rayed her, and found both Bladder and Kidney stones. This will be the third time that she will be having her bladder stones removed. What I find so odd is that she never hunched her back or seemed to be in the discomfort that she is in now with the last two times she had bladder stones. I am not sure if it’s because she is showing signs of Kidney Stones this time? Have you found out anything more with you Schnauzer?
Avatar f tn I never had a kidney infection but at 29 weeks I had kidney stones that caused my urine to be pure blood and contractions that required magnesium to stop. I would go in just in case.
Avatar f tn When I was in middle and high school, I had a few bouts of kidney stones. They put stents in my ureters, and then later reconstructed the right one because it was kinked up. For a few years after the surgery I felt fine. However, this spasming pain I have been having has been going on consistently for almost two years now. Every doctor I see wants to pass it off on kidney stones, yet they cannot see any obstructions on the IVPs, CT Scans, etc. Also I haven't passed a stone since I was about 15!
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from chronic kidney stones for 19 years, multiple stones, multiple sizes in both kidneys. I hae not been stone free anytime since the first one passed in 1991. I hve had over 200 + stone related surgeries, everyone of them. I made 50 new stones from Nov. to Jan, this year. I am on my 3rd surgery since september now and awaiting another one due to an 8 mm stone.
Avatar f tn LMNO (I'm not a doctor, but I have a lot of experience with kidney-function, cysts, kidney-stones, etc)
193953 tn?1272078626 It will be stuck in the kidney and thats what causes the blood in the urine. The stone is stuck and rolls back and forth in the kidney when it fills with liquid and bruses the inside of your kidney. The tube from the kidney to the bladder isnt equipped to pass that large of a stone, either is the tube from the bladder to the outside of your body (urithia) (sp). A lypotripsy is when they use ultrasound and smash the stone into sand. The stent is so you pass the "sand" easily.
3112653 tn?1351625681 I just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know how I was doing I'm so dang thankful that is over and by the way I have 72 days in I cant believe it I have hurdles thrown in my path temptations out the ying yang.

Avatar m tn A few days ago I had an ultrasound done to investigate a hernia (nothing special there) and they found a new kidney stone measuring 3mm in the right kidney (all my previous kidney stones have been left). Has anyone got any idea how long I will be waiting for this ticking time bomb of a stone to start its painful journey and does anyone know of any early warning signs that may exist to indicate that a stone may be ready to come out?
Avatar f tn I do have small stones in both kidneys but my left kidney never seems to cause me pain. If it's not the stones causing the pain what else should I have my doctors looking for? Thanks for any help any of you can give me.
Avatar f tn Hello MSKers! I am new to this support group! I have had surgeries, stints, numerous CT scans, ultrasounds, KUBs & more! I go to my doc every 6months or yearly, depending on my status of stones! I recently had my check up, July 2011, & there are several small stones in both of my kidneys. I know the drill...water, water & more water!!! I am an excellent water drinker, however, I sweat a lot & I rarely have to go to the bathroom! Therefore, my stones do not get flushed out...
Avatar f tn I have recently had a stent put in to help get to 2 small stones in my kidney I was in excrusiating pain and was rushed into hospital and the stent fell out while passing urine. I am still in pain but it is mostly controlled by pain killers and anti inflammatory tablets to. Do i have another stent put in as the surgeon couldnt get to the stones to laser them thats why he put a stent in? Or do i have proper surgery to remove them once and for all?
Avatar m tn To clear up though, my stone is not in the bladder (it was first suspected to be) but lhas be confirmed as stuck in my right ureter - right at the end of the tube. So i'm concerned about the loss of function in my right kidney, as diagnosis was slow in coming, and resulted in me changing GP's. Here in the UK, we generally only go to A&E if we are in severe pain, or had somekind of accident.
182767 tn?1317495837 The left one looked great but the tech was having a hard time locating the right kidney. The tech said it could be that the baby was not in a good position, or it could be underdeveloped or the baby could have only one kidney. She did not seemed worried. I told my friend about this site and would ask if this has happended to anyone else or do you know of anyone who has had a newborn with one kidney and what the outcome was??
Avatar f tn i am 27, i had high protein levels when i was a child and then nothing was wrong with my kidneys until i was pregnant with my daughter and started having kidney stones. From the time i had my first stone in may 2003 i had them every May, no joke. I seriously dreaded May's. Now, i have had 27 stones that i have passed, had to have removed, or have been hospitalized for, ive had 25 catscans since 2005 and now am no longer allowed near a ct machine.
Avatar f tn Hi Totie, It's your friendly urologist here. I know it sounds really strange to hear someone tell you that something abnormal in your body may not be causing your problems. I see patients everyday for unrelated conditions in which we will "accidentally" find kidney stones on a CT scan. Usually the patient is surprised to find them and will say, "but I'm not even in any pain". The differentiating factor with kidney stones is going to be whether they are obstructing or not.
