1916673 tn?1420236870 Dogs acquire phosphorus directly from food, and normally (in healthy dogs) any excess is excreted through the kidneys. In kidney disease the kidneys are damaged and cannot excrete excess phosphorus, which then acts like a toxic substance in the blood. Reducing phosphorus intake is therefore important (check all the foods you may be feeding, including treats, for phosphorus content). The additional way of controlling it is to introduce a phosphate binder.
1963554 tn?1325451090 It seems there is a very long way to go before kidney disease is resolved in humans, so our poor dogs will probably have an even longer wait. It's a dreadfully cruel and shockingly dibilitating illness and I just wish we could find some kind of cure, so no more dogs would suffer from it. In time, maybe, but for now we just have to do all we can to educate people about bad foods and the importance of getting early bloodwork done when the first symptoms show.
Avatar n tn He Ph levels are perfect, no kidney stones, and no infection. He is not in pain but urinating blood cannot be good. He will urinate normally and then when he is outside for a while and starts to mark on various things his urine changes from normal to bloody. The same result happens after he has been outside running. A few hours later he will urinate and the color is back to normal. PLEASE HELP!
1916673 tn?1420236870 Processed manufactured dog foods usually have the appropriate ratio of these minerals, but when an owner decides to produce home cooked food (for all the right reasons and with the best of intentions), the ratio is harder to achieve. In younger dogs, kidney stones and the resulting blocked urinary tract, inherited genetic defects affecting the kidneys, kidney infections and ingested poisons (notably anti-freeze and rodent-control poisons) can all cause phosphorus levels to rise.
Avatar f tn We are going to miss her so much and inhopebto see the signs that the time is right before she is in pain. Best of luck to you - kidney failure is awful in that by the time you see the signs it's too late!

Avatar f tn We would all want them to die peacefully in their sleep, but this is not always the case. I have read many peoples posts on kidney failure in their dogs. Most people say that when their dog stops eating, The time is near. Watch for increasing signs and symptoms. I pray that she will go peacefully in her sleep, but if this is not the case, I am sure you will know when it is time to let her go. My heart goes out to you.... ( My lovely little yorkie..TwoBits had kidney failure.
661200 tn?1225486613 Even worse, there isn't a darn thing to do for kidney failure other than treat the symptoms as best you can. Once kidney cells are destroyed, they cannot regenerate like other organs such as the liver can. When kidney failure reaches the last stages, you will notice a marked increase in nausea and vomiting and probably urinary accidents as well. The nausea is from the toxins remaining in the bloodstream that the kidneys can no longer filter out.
Avatar n tn When there's widespread numbness and tingling along with other scattered symptoms, it's difficult to localize the lesion to specific spots in the brain that may be damaged by MS. However, there is a small amount of patients who DO have nonspecific, vague neurologic symptoms that don't localize anywhere and the MRI shows classic MS spots throughout the brain and spinal cord. In your case, though, the MRI (should have brain AND spine) was clean which makes the diagnosis of MS much less likely.
351317 tn?1204755471 no pain in my arm but my muscles ache a lot.
Avatar m tn The ache in my heart and chest and pain in my abdomen are classic grief symptoms. Loose of appetite and guilt feelings are too. I prayed and asked Jesus to please reunite me with Rocky when I go to heaven someday.

Avatar n tn as this can do permanent damage to the nerve cells in your central nervous system(brain and apinal cord), cardiopulmonary system and smooth muscle in your digestive tract( mainly the large intestine as these are the areas of the body where opiate receptors are widely spread. Tapering as slowly as possible will almost eliminate withdrawal symptoms. Once you stop taking them you will probably feel some withdrawal symptoms so always taper as slowly as possible toward the end. xoxo- D.
Avatar n tn I have been to a GYN, Urologists, primary care physicians, you name it I have seen them. I have had kidney stones removed, laproscopic surgery (nothing abnormal) and a cystopy (spelling). I was actually hoping that the Lap would indicate that they had found something wrong so they could fix it. My GYN seems to think our next step is to remove the uterus, I just don't see how this can help.
Avatar f tn My vet also prescribed cerenia. Teagan never vomited after she was put on Cerenia. I don't know if it actually settled her stomach though. I could never find any foods she would eat. But, by then she was in late stages.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if a mold/dust allergy combined with a poorly maintained air-conditioning system in workplace could have anything to do with our symptoms? Would be interested in your comments on this.
Avatar n tn Im a 40 year old white male with a history of kidney stones. for the past few years ive had persistent pain, and have been to a urologist. I have a large stone in the left kidney. They suggested i have a PERC done, but since the pain has been somewhat manageable, i havent done anything. especially since they told me that the stone in the kidney doesnt usually cause pain and there were no guarantees this would even solve my problem.
Avatar f tn Reading my journals for the last six weeks-will provide some of the highlights when I can, but now I just can't. Hopefully, this will help somone else recognize the symptoms of kidney failure in their babies. I cannot express to all of you how much your comments mean to us right now. Not sure we could make it without you. It is so hard.
Avatar n tn you might have to get it in shot form if you are really bad. Nerves can grow back and be repaired. All these symptoms of tingle itchy or pin pricks is nerves and inflamation. When our body is up the muscles are up and working. When we lay down that goes away and gravity takes hold and thus putting pressure on the nerves.
1293869 tn?1277361583 It could be a kidney infection, UTI, gall stones, etc. Try to keep your cool, and don't worry about kidney failure. My experience has been that when I get anxious and stressed out about my symptoms, they tend to get worse. I know it sounds weird, but I'm so relieved that you responded saying you have similar issues. I'm starting to worry that I'm just going crazy since they can't find anything wrong with me. I'll keep you up to date if I find anything out from my doctors.
Avatar f tn I explained some of my symptoms and history (kidney stones, cervical cancer) and he referred me to a Urologist. When I saw her I was having what felt like Kidney Stone pain, but not as consistent. To be blunt, after I relieve myself it feels as if a knife is going inside me (which is what all my stones have felt like) but I do take a low dose painkiller for my back, so I honestly don't know if the pain is there everyday or just the random days out of the week I feel it....
Avatar n tn I am ok, but if I wake up in the morning hours; I am in severe pain - in the lower back (kidney area, right and left hip (on the sides) and upper back in the middle. After about 30 min to 1 hr; it goes away. I have a sedentary job and if I sit too long, my hips will ache again and makes it slightly painful to get out of chair, but nothing like the morning.
Avatar n tn I have had the same symptoms in my lower left leg. I Googled the problem and found your comments. I am going to the Dr. on Monday. I will post what ever I find.
1358341 tn?1282213443 As far as what to order or get, try to wean your cat off of dry (dry is the worst thing for a cat especially with kidney problems), it might take a while, you can slowly mix in a little can in your cat's dry food ... Opus might have a good suggestion for this as I had no problem with this for my cat. The prescription kidney diet at the vets is generally too LOW in protein and I feel does not help your cat..
Avatar n tn I was confirmed pregnant on day 14 after the procedure by blood test. I had the symptoms before I was confirmed positive and I also thought they were in my head, but there could be more to it. I had a failed IUI a few months before and I did not have any symptoms at all. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to urinary tract infection or kidney stones. Making a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection includes performing a urinalysis test, which checks for the presence of pus, white blood cells, and bacteria in the urine, which point to a urinary tract infection. A urine culture and sensitivity is usually performed to find the exact microorganism that is causing the infection and to determine the most effective antibiotic to treat it.
Avatar f tn I'm no vet, but she could maybe have a urinary tract infection or kidney stones? she might have the constant feeling that she has to go for a wee. get her checked out. it might be something simple and if its not, at least you will have caught it early.
Avatar n tn Hi Lisa: My shephard/husky had kidney stones (lots) removed in 2002 and I didn't think she would survive but she did. On June 1, 2008 I lost her to end stage renal disease; I had her for 6 more years. She was 13-1/2 when she died and that is not too shabby an age for a large dog. May I suggest a low protein diet, such as rice, mashed potatoes, tuna, boiled eggs (easiest protein to digest) and chicken. You can buy low protein food but it is very expensive, as least here in Canada.
Avatar n tn i will manufacture pain to give myself a free high here and there... by no means am i a martyr... i had kidney stones a few weeks ago and i had to take pain meds... but it is scary every time i need to take narcotics... to easy to mess up... in your case you may really need to take something stonger for your cough, i don't know... i am sure the doc will be around soon to tell you if you CAN take that tussionex with the bup! good luck either way and i hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn (She also has bladder and kidney stones, inflamed pancreas and gall bladder sludge. This has been repeated 2 times. She has no other symptoms, eats well, fairly active. She had been of Clomix for about 17 days. I have taken her off this. I have taken her to a teaching Vet School clinic and of course her rigular vet. They have no idea of why her enzymes ar this elevated. I will have a blood panel repeat next week. Any thoughts?
