Hello everyone, I am currently sitting in a hospital on day 2 suffering from kidney stones. The stone passed yesterday thank god!(worst pain I have ever had in my life) this is my 3child and first time experiencing this. My question Is has anyone else ever gone through this and had perfectly healthy babes, I completely trust my Drs and the hospital but I can't help but to worrie about my baby.
s been 2 days since I was discharged from the hospital after a week of suffering from kidney stones and ended up having to under go a procedure where they placed a tube in my kidneys and now I have a bag attached to my side until after I deliver. I've never felt so much discomfort and pain. It's hard for me to do anything I can't even shower properly.
Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully.

I have had half a dozen kidney stones in the last year or so. This definitely sounds like it could be a stone. The pain generally happens as the stone goes into the ureter and travels to the bladder. Once in the bladder, it doesn't usually hurt too much but may cause frequent urination, etc. If you don't have anymore pain, i would just strain your urine for awhile and wait to pass the stone. If you have more pain, you can go to the ER and have a scan done.
It showed one +4mm kidney stones in my kidney. All my bloodwork and urine were fine. Was put on Flomax and told to screen my urine. All through the next two weeks i had constant pain in my left groin area but also had bursts of travelling pain from my kidney to my groin. Passed two smaller stones and several fragments. pain was increasing in my groin and started having nausea.
This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!

My girlfriend started having back pain around the right kidney area a couple weeks ago. She went to the doctor right away and they said she had a kidney infection. She was prescribed drugs and sent home. However, the medicine didn't help too much. Today, the doctor's office called her and said that it wasn't a kidney infection and that she needed to see a specialist. I'm getting really worried, what could this be?
Thank u so much for responding we will make sure to try that :-) he was in pain for about 3 weeks and finally passed 2 stones one night then the very next day passed 8 of many sizes all at once! And on the third day he had 2 more!
i have had numerous kidney stones (6 or 7) and 2 kidney infections to the point of hospitalization for 2 weeks. all the while i was pregnant my doctor never mentioned inducing me at all. we kept a close eye on them and i was medicated through IV, but i didnt have to him my son early or an induction. he arrived at 38wks healthy as a horse! best of luck!
Has anyone had kidney stones during your pregnancy and what did the pain feel like. I went to the hospital earlier and was sent home and told I was just experiencing round lig pain but I'm a bit skeptical of that verdict because it lasted for hours and the pain was so intense. I didn't test positive for a uti either but idk what to think. I dont have bloody urine but i swear i peed out something resembling a small pebble earlier too.
With 4 larger ones, 2 in each kidney. I also have nephrocalcinosis. The left kidney has the larger stones and a cyst but only hurts occasionally, if I am passing a stone and sometimes if feels like the larger one gets stuck somewhere. The right kidney however I live with chronic pain, which we have connected to a chronic infection and a narrowing that makes them more painful when the little ones pass! So I would rule out infection first.

The only dangerous kidney stones are those that cause obstruction, although you can have pain just because they are moving around. What MDs won't tell you is that you may be able to reduce the size of your stones by taking a supplement called Nigella sativa. Another name is black seed oil, but use the proper plant name of Nigella sativa to get the right thing. Whole Foods carries the oil, and many herbal health stores do. You can order it from Amazon.
It wouldn't hurt to take a pumpkin seed oil supplement. It may help you not have kidney stones and help your kidney.
I was always told how uncommon it was for a girl my age (first stones were at age 19,I am now 27) to have kidney stones and also plus because I am a woman and women don't tend to get them. I was never ever offered any help even after asking for advice from many doctors on what should I do?? I have had kidney stones at least 3-4 Times a year. But this past month I have passed 10 stones so far and counting. Each time at the ER I am prescribed pain meds and anti nausea pills and sent home.
Kidney stones cause pain because of blockage of flow of urine and pressure build up in the kidney. This is called "hydronephrosis" and it is very unlikely that two CT scans and an US would have missed this diagnosis. I would not assume his pain is from a kidney stone given what information you have reported. Other things, like diverticulitis of the colon, cause pain in the left lower part of the abdomen and should be evaluated.
i am used to the pain and can deal with it, what scares me is the kidney pain. normally i dont get kidney pain with the stones. i had to have only one stone removed surgically, it was stuck in the lining of my urethra, total pain on that episode before and after! Does anyone have any knowledge on preventing calcium oxalate stones that i havent tried already? i cant take diuretics because of a sulfa allergy, the potassium citrate does nothing, and i have slowed down on tea and cheese.
You need to watch if the dog is in pain, having problems urinating, etc. I take it these are bladder stones? They are more common then kidney stones. It is considered a major surgery to remove them and they may become chronic.
You definitely have to watch the diet. Ask your Vet for a recommendation on the food. There are dog food companies that do make special diets for animals with stones!
I have dealt with kidney stones for many years now some I've had to have surgery for others just had to deal with pain for weeks waiting for them to pass. I know that I have 5 dormant ones on my right side and 4 on my left side right now. They keep referring to them as dormant anyhow. I have been having some very bad days pain wise and having issues with being able to urinate much regardless of how much water I drink (I pretty much only drink water every day and my intake is high).
