Avatar f tn IT's been 2 days since I was discharged from the hospital after a week of suffering from kidney stones and ended up having to under go a procedure where they placed a tube in my kidneys and now I have a bag attached to my side until after I deliver. I've never felt so much discomfort and pain. It's hard for me to do anything I can't even shower properly.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I am currently sitting in a hospital on day 2 suffering from kidney stones. The stone passed yesterday thank god!(worst pain I have ever had in my life) this is my 3child and first time experiencing this. My question Is has anyone else ever gone through this and had perfectly healthy babes, I completely trust my Drs and the hospital but I can't help but to worrie about my baby.
Avatar n tn I have had half a dozen kidney stones in the last year or so. This definitely sounds like it could be a stone. The pain generally happens as the stone goes into the ureter and travels to the bladder. Once in the bladder, it doesn't usually hurt too much but may cause frequent urination, etc. If you don't have anymore pain, i would just strain your urine for awhile and wait to pass the stone. If you have more pain, you can go to the ER and have a scan done.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.0mm usually move out on their own with a high % of non-complications, etc.
Avatar f tn 20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!
Avatar f tn my heart goes out to him they say the pain when passing stones is like giving birth, my boyfrind suffers from kidney stones ive seen him in such bad pain that he cant move and his urine the colour of cranberry juice, i know your proberly sick of being told the same thing but while hes actually passing a stone all he can do is take plenty of painkillers and drink loads of water to flush the stone out easier, my boyfriend had lipotripsy which sends shock waves to the kidneys what basically crum

Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn You need to watch if the dog is in pain, having problems urinating, etc. I take it these are bladder stones? They are more common then kidney stones. It is considered a major surgery to remove them and they may become chronic. You definitely have to watch the diet. Ask your Vet for a recommendation on the food. There are dog food companies that do make special diets for animals with stones!
Avatar f tn Kidney stones cause pain because of blockage of flow of urine and pressure build up in the kidney. This is called "hydronephrosis" and it is very unlikely that two CT scans and an US would have missed this diagnosis. I would not assume his pain is from a kidney stone given what information you have reported. Other things, like diverticulitis of the colon, cause pain in the left lower part of the abdomen and should be evaluated.
Avatar f tn Any moms have experience with kidney stones while pregnant. Were you induced early or allowed to go as normal??
Avatar f tn For the past 3 weeks, our 12 yr old dog has been going out to urinate much more often than she used to. She squats for a long time to urinate, but nothing comes out. Sometimes a teaspoon of urine comes out. I caught some today and it looks somewhat cloudy. I asked my local vet how much it would cost to diagnose her condition. He said he would need to do an x-ray, urine test & blood test. It would cost $700-$800.
Avatar f tn But yesterday morning I learned that kids can get kidney stones!!! I'm still surprised on that. My 13-yeaar old daughter, who is a trooper ... never complains and has a pretty high pain threshold ... She came in my room yesterday morning in real distress. She was wincing and saying she had terrible pain in her back on the left side. I knew she was in agony when she started vomiting with the pain. I gave her an advil and an ice pack and called the pediatrician, who wasn't in yet.
Avatar n tn I am 21 weeks pregnant and went to the hospital a few days ago in severe pain. Ultrasound revealed that I had water around my kidney and a blockage, which was caused by a kidney stone. I was given an epidural and a stent was inserted, which alleviated my immediate pain. I am now home, and the stent is very uncomfortable; I cannot do any activities because of the pinching and aching it is causing me. I was not given any pain medication or was even told what to expect.
7808984 tn?1406684565 Well I'm here to tell you just take them as it says and ask for help if you need it. Good luck with you kidney stones and God bless you.
Avatar n tn I would only do it between episodes blasting kidney stones may help. my family friend just diedon't from kidney failure. his kidneys were blasted too many times to work any more...
Avatar f tn There will however be tremendous pain possible from the kidney stone(s) just as is normal with a kidney stone. I am a male, but females who have had kidney stones tell me that the pain connected with them is worse than childbirth. Let me say that I am NOT a physician and I'm only talking from 30 plus years of kidney stone experience, but please understand that pain from a kidney stone comes as it is passing through the kidney itself.
Avatar f tn Yup it is officially kidney stones. I was in the er again yesterday and they found a few stonea in my kidney that need to be blasted but they cant do it til after baby is born. Im in so much pain it is unbearable. This is way more paib than actually giving birth.
592774 tn?1325397342 My uro thinks she is not doing enough to help me prevent the stones. I know the cup of stones I have collected has made an impression on my kids attitude toward me when I am in pain. They seem more compassionate.
Avatar m tn Recurrent kidney infection can be due to diabetes, some anomaly or defect in the kidney or due to the organisms developing antibiotic resistance. Recurrent kidney stones are found renal tubular acidosis, medullary sponge kidney, Dent's disease (genetic disease of the kidney), hyperparathyroidism, primary hyperoxaluria and Crohn's disease. Since the pain comes before periods too, it can also be due to endometriosis.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter had a CT scan to check for kidney stones. The doctor told me the results showed stones in both kidneys...more in the right than in the left. Also showed a 4cm by 4cm cyst on the right ovary. She put her on birth control pills for a couple of cycles to see if the cyst goes away. So we are starting month 1 with the birth control pills, and waiting for an ultrasound in a month or two. As for the kidney stones...
Avatar f tn Just found out that I have kidney stones again!!! And this time, I am going to need your support, because I am DETERMINED to get through this without narcotic pain meds. I am only 26, but have had kidney stones three time, including this time. It's excruciating. Yesterday, I started feeling pain in my lower back, and pain when peeing, and it got so severe that my husband had to bring me to the hospital. I told them I thought it was prob kidney stones, and sure enough, it is. GREAT.
1301089 tn?1290670171 I know this probably isn't the best forum for this but I know all of you and trust you. Also, others have posted about kidney stones here in the past. I have a terrible pain on my right flank. I wake up with it and it only gets worse as the day wears on. It is going on a week now. I've been more nauseated than usual. I also have more severe pain in the bladder and groin area. My Lortab aren't even touching this. I am still on my feet but just barely.. I drink lots of water.
