540521 tn?1221699706 Well i am 35 and i have had kidney stones for 7 months now and i cannot pass them, i do know that my father had kidney stones and so did his dad. Is hyperparathyroidism dangerous? I don't know to much about it and wanted to get more info on it.
Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
Avatar f tn the stones so they can analyze them) is the constituents of the stones. I believe a common kidney stone is made up of calcium oxylate. If your stone has some other makeup, it can be telling as to the cause of your condition. The majority of mine was not calcium oxylate, but the "lead" that gave the docs turned out to be a dead end, so I guess all my efforts to catch that little bugger were for naught. Ah well, at least I got to see my foe!! Sigh.
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me how to prevent them!! They say kidney stones are calcium build up am I drinking to much milk? I've never had kidney stones till I got pregnant.
Avatar m tn m wondering if taking these vitamins will somehow hurt my kidneys or possibly cause me to get more kidney stones? In the past the stones were analyzed and were calcium deposits. Heres what i'm taking: B-Complex Magnesium(500mg twice a day) zinc (50mg) 2 multi mineral vitamins Thanks everyone, I love this site.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar m tn Rushed to ER, where a CT scan was done. 3 stones were detected - one in ureter, and 2 in kidney. Doctor could not reach the stone so he ended up putting the stent and asked me to drink water (he predicted stones to be uric acid stones). Then I went for ultrasound every 10 days. 1st ultrasound said I have only 2 stones remaining. 2nd ultrasound said I had 1 stone of 6mm remaining. 3rd ultrasound said I had 1 stone of 8mm.
Avatar f tn When she was finally diagnosed previously, after days of intense pain, the stones were still in the kidney, so her original stones caused pain for her before they ever moved out of the kidney. She has had no other symptoms, and for now she is feeling great. She was a bit discouraged when we left the dr, wondering what in the world could "mimic" the stones, if it wasn't the stones.
Avatar m tn not a professional but to me it sounds a lot like you have cystine kidney stones, which are hereditary. that's what I have and I've had 42 lipotripsy surgeries and five where they actually cut through your back. that's within the last 7 years. I too have lost jobs due to it. from experience no diet changes seem to help. you could see a nephrologist instead of an urologist.
Avatar n tn • only one stone has ever formed; • stones have been multiple, but none have formed for >10 years and none are seen on radiograph; and • the donor is screened for metabolic abnormalities and is offered life-long follow-up that includes periodic risk reassessment, medical treatment, and hydration." (http://www.touchbriefings.com/pdf/2448/josephson.pdf) You may want to check the url posted above as it contains a good discussion on kidney stone formers as kidney donors.
Avatar f tn I was always told how uncommon it was for a girl my age (first stones were at age 19,I am now 27) to have kidney stones and also plus because I am a woman and women don't tend to get them. I was never ever offered any help even after asking for advice from many doctors on what should I do?? I have had kidney stones at least 3-4 Times a year. But this past month I have passed 10 stones so far and counting. Each time at the ER I am prescribed pain meds and anti nausea pills and sent home.
Avatar n tn urinary tract infection, bladder and kidney stones, interstitial cystitis, kidney disease, taking aspirin or other anti-coagulant medication, hematologic disorders that affect clotting, trauma affecting the genitourinary system, and cancer.
Avatar m tn I had an ultra sound done and it turns out I have a fatty liver with a couple of kidney stones. My doctor seems more concerned with the kidney stones than my liver. No more drinking on a weekly basis any more and a balance diet has been order by the doctor. I asked my doctor if cirrhosis would be picked up on an ultra sound, but I didn't seem to get a straight answer from him. I guess doctors won't look any further unless there's additional symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have other serious medical conditions, but they are taken second seat to my kidney problems at the moment. I have had approx. 15 diagnosed and treated kidney infections in the past 21 months, most treated with oral and IV Cypro. I had bilateral stents placed for 6 weeks in Feb. 2009, at which time they removed many stones from both kidneys, found a lot of calcification in both kidneys, and a lot of scarring and narrowing in both tubes, more so in the right.
Avatar n tn I battle kidney stones constantly and my left kidney (pelvic, duplex) is now deteriorating and has started to fail. Reading this forum has lead me to believe very strongly that all of these problems are definitely not random and most likely linked.
Avatar m tn In the last month I had to go to the ER for kidney stones. After taking a CAT scan it showed that I have several stones still in my kidneys. I have an appointment with a kidney doctor who is a stone specialist according to my uroligist. However the appointment isn't until April. So i am sitting here hoping not to have another problem until then. Anyone had the same problem as me. As for my stones most are very small (2 mm).
Avatar f tn The biggest problem with kidney stones is inducing labor since your body is in distress I have a history of them and my ob told Mr if I feel like I'm having kidney pain to go to the hospital right away just to be safe they will usually keep you over night and make sure you pass them they don't directly affect the baby
Avatar f tn Rhe pain was worse then labor I swear. Have any of you ladies had kidney stones during this pregnancy? Im due nov 28th and im already dealing with all the pain that comes along with pregnancy and I cant go through that again.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had kidney stones during your pregnancy and what did the pain feel like. I went to the hospital earlier and was sent home and told I was just experiencing round lig pain but I'm a bit skeptical of that verdict because it lasted for hours and the pain was so intense. I didn't test positive for a uti either but idk what to think. I dont have bloody urine but i swear i peed out something resembling a small pebble earlier too.
Avatar f tn This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!
Avatar f tn Anyone else have kidney stones..? If so what do you do about it. It is SO painful..
Avatar f tn Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.had any body else had this problem.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies have any of yous experienced the oh-so-lovely pain of kidney stones? Also once it passed how long did kidney pain last? The hospital I attended to didn't help nor my doctor was any help! Thanks!
Avatar f tn s been 2 days since I was discharged from the hospital after a week of suffering from kidney stones and ended up having to under go a procedure where they placed a tube in my kidneys and now I have a bag attached to my side until after I deliver. I've never felt so much discomfort and pain. It's hard for me to do anything I can't even shower properly.
