kidney-stones

Avatar f tn My stones are caused from too much calcium in my diet so I am suppose to watch that! They say once you get kidney stones you are prone to them. I know in my family history my dad had kidney stones, then me, my two brothers and my sister ended up getting them. Then my niece and nephew had a bout with them also.. so it is a genetic thing too? Drink lots of liquids, watch your diet, and hopefully this will prevent further stones.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.

Avatar f tn I just found out that my stones are comprised of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate! Does anyone else here have 2 types of stones?? I was given no advice on diet from my doc he just said drink alot of water! Gee thanks lol.
Avatar n tn It was when this happened that I began to suspect that maybe it wasn't an infection, but a kidney stone - or recurring kidney stones. When the chronic constipation started a year ago, I also began to have difficulty peeing. I have to strain sometimes to get it to come out. The pee is really clear, like 99% of the time. It has no color. And when I'm done peeing, at the bottom of the toilet there is always what looks like green "dust". It always sinks to the very bottom.

Avatar m tn After being diagnosed with a kidney stones of 3mm more than a week ago, I still haven't passed it but I passed 7 other stones a little bit smaller. I keep them all. My right side of back, my abdomen and grion hurt still even with the pain meds prescribed to me. Why is it taking so long to pass?
Avatar m tn Are there any indications for developing kidney stones by consuming Protein (whey?) supplements / powders for shakes for someone interested in weight training who has a history oxalate stones?
Avatar f tn Hi there, In medullary sponge kidney disease there is fluid retention in the ducts of your kidneys. Diet and exercise can lessen the severity of kidney stones which may form. Organic diet may be helpful. A diet low in high protein foods like meat, low in high oxalate foods like spinach, rhubarb, peanuts, and low in sodium may help. A diet high in fiber like fruits, vegetables can be very helpful. Vitamin A is helpful in preventing the formation of stones.
Avatar f tn It does NOT cause cancer however it can be a precursor to cancer, but not without other contributing factors (genetics, smoking, drugs, EMF radiation exposure, prolonged unhealthy diet, etc.) The composition of the stones is calcium. Think of it like a testicular Gall Stone. The stones usually appear in the epididymal tubes and block the flow of sperm to the vas deferens. However, they can actually occur almost anywhere in the testicle.
82861 tn?1333457511 They can become elevated if there is a urinary tract infection, a kidney infection or a prostate infection, or the elevations can be caused by damage to the kidney (either kidney disease or kidney failure). A urinalysis with a microalbuminuria test will determine if it is an infection or kidney failute. Lyme disease can commonly effect the kidneys also causing kidney failure. So if it has not been performed yet I would have your dog's urine tested and perform a lyme disease test.
Avatar f tn It caused the urine to back up into my kidney, and because it was stagnant, caused me to get a kidney infection and I went septic and almost died. After to surgeries, I was sent home with a new diet. There are a number of foods to avoid, as these are high in oxollate. I was told to consume milk products with my meals to bind the calcium to the oxolates found in food. Since then, my doctor did a test and found that I am lactose intolerant.
Avatar f tn Please help me my mom has had mutiplaying kidney stones now for about a year on both sides of her kidneys, which also are causing blockage. She has had a history of kidney stones but not so many at the same time.
Avatar n tn I have been reading many message boards and feel am self educated about kidney stones by my own body. Each kidney stone is unique in severity of pain. The bigger ones don't always have bigger pain. The largest I have passed was5 ml. I just dont know what to do anymore. Im tired of passing them, tired of being in pain, tired of missing work and could be in danger of loosing my job. The painkillers are great , but takes a day or so to get back into functioning mode after taking them.
Avatar n tn Hello, Patients with medullary sponge kidney and hypercalciuria should avoid a high-protein diet. Also since you have calcium stones in the kidney it is advisable to avoid taking calcium supplements. Also drink plenty of fluids to generate a urine output in excess of 2 liters per day. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Hello! I was recently diagnosed with Medullary Sponge Kidney and have had conflicting information given to me from different doctors. Has anyone been put on a low oxalate/low sodium diet? I am having the hardest time figuring out what to eat and can't find much information out there. The nutritionist gave me a list of foods, but it isn't helping me with a "meal plan." Oh and I'm glad to have found this place!!!
3287038 tn?1398426027 , passed with fluid, after getting stuck in the ureter, inflated both kidneys. Calcium oxalate stones. I have occasional kidney stones since then. They seem to pass. What complications from kidney stones would someone expect from this or kidney stones in gereral? I stopped all supplements except glucosamine/condroitin, super B, fish oil and vit D.
Avatar f tn I have a damaged kidney from years ago, and when I get dehydrated, I get little tiny kidney stones that it takes a while to clear. Again, mine is an usual situation, but I did get some small kidney stones while on Diflucan (a rather high dose for several months, which is unusual) and it has taken a while for them to clear. So I think most people would not get that problem, and it's because of my damaged kidney.
Avatar f tn I know how you feel, although I haven't had spasms everyday, I have experienced them on occasion. It is worse than kidney stones. Undescribible pain!! It could be a number of things. Your kidney could be floating, you could have hydronephrosis, your renal artery could be obstructed and the blood supply is cut off intermittantly, and of coarse the old kidney stone is a possiblity. You really need some test done to see what is going on. I know how hard it is to find a good urologist.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. My kidney stone problem is a problem with oxalate. I think I will stop the turmeric for now. I am disappointed, as I thought this would help the arthritis. I certainly don't want kidney stone problems again. The calcium supplement I take is calcium citrate (not carbonate). Since I already take a prescription potassium citrate (Urocit-K), I guess the turmeric would be keeping that from doing its job of breaking down the oxalate.

Avatar m tn Thanks for the response, 33 years, bloody hell, a few years has destroyed me, I had a double hernia op that felt way less painful than kidney stones for me, I have noticed chest pains all across the top of the chest that sometimes spread down both forearms, on the front of my throat and the top of my head, I'm starting to wonder if that's all connected to the kidney stones since I just happen to have had the kidney stone pain not long after the onset of these symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was always told how uncommon it was for a girl my age (first stones were at age 19,I am now 27) to have kidney stones and also plus because I am a woman and women don't tend to get them. I was never ever offered any help even after asking for advice from many doctors on what should I do?? I have had kidney stones at least 3-4 Times a year. But this past month I have passed 10 stones so far and counting. Each time at the ER I am prescribed pain meds and anti nausea pills and sent home.
1341923 tn?1276130446 Dogs with chronic renal disease do better on Hill's K/D than cats, however, I think that there are ways to spruce up this diet and helping to maintain kidney function even more. You can either add to the K/D, use a homemade diet in addition to it, or supplement with holistic canned diet. The most important dietary change is no dry commercial food! Good holistic renal friendly dog foods include: Wellness Senior canned food, Orijin Senior, and Natures variety Senior.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with the diet with which you refer, so I did a quick search... The first thing I find is that it restricts calories to about 600/day, which puts up a red flag immediately for me. Of course, you can probably lose weight on any diet that only allows 600 calories/day, but can you stick with it? And is it healthy? My little bit of research shows that ketogenic diets are a bit controversial as to how healthy they are.
Avatar f tn Looking for possible stones and see if they were working correctly. Right kidney slightly enlarged working at 40%, but told no sign of stones and maybe she was eating too many carbs and not enough fiber. In addition, plenty of people have worse kidney function and don’t feel pain, so the pain is not her kidney…And since blood pressure is low kidneys are probably not the problem. (I know she is not a high carb eater…but took it anyway.
974371 tn?1424656729 Your abdominal symptom may not be related the kidney lesions. Try lifestyle measures, add plenty of yogurt to your diet, avoid all fatty greasy foods, avoid foods that trigger your symptoms and exercise regularly, they promote good bowel movements. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
