Avatar n tn I have been reading many message boards and feel am self educated about kidney stones by my own body. Each kidney stone is unique in severity of pain. The bigger ones don't always have bigger pain. The largest I have passed was5 ml. I just dont know what to do anymore. Im tired of passing them, tired of being in pain, tired of missing work and could be in danger of loosing my job. The painkillers are great , but takes a day or so to get back into functioning mode after taking them.

1832268 tn?1326819610 We brought him home and did twice daily under skin fluids plus standard recommended meds and kidney diet. We then took him to a kidney specialist who was trying to determine at what stage of Kidney disease he was at. Got his levels down a little more a week little later, things were looking promising and his energy levels were increasing dramatically. Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating.
Avatar f tn Is he eating a kidney friendly diet...? Do you have him on any medications? Tell me about your rescue dog...did she also die from kidney failure..? How long ago? I am so very sorry. My heart hurts for you. It is so difficult to watch our loved ones leave us. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
1963554 tn?1325451090 So we put Shaggy on a special diet food for stones...Royal Canin. We did that for a month and a half until he didn't want to eat that food any longer. Then I asked vet what can the next option be and he suggested an ultra sound. At this point his urine was having blood it it. And then the most heart breaking news I got was on Dec. 26. After his ultra sound vet showed us the ultra sound and told me the bad news... which led me to just burst out in tears and tried to fight it.
Avatar n tn Hi, You can ask for an Xray, which would be quicker to schedule and to report, to check for the presence of kidney stones which my cause an obstruction of urine flow, even if only partial, and can predispose to UTIs. WBCs in the urine can be a sign of renal damage and inflammation, especially if accompanied by epithelial cells.
Avatar n tn I am having a problem of kidney stones kindly tell me solution. My USG KUB report says "Left kidney: size normal showing sandy concretion around 4 mm signs mid and lower part and mild left hydrocephalus and tiny calci concretion lower end of left ureter(which patient passed out,as on post void snography it disapeared). right kidney: size normal showing sandy concretion(+). bil tiny renal sandy concretion.
Avatar f tn May of the last year I had a CT scan and they said I had 9 stones in my left Kidney largest one 1cm and 6 in my right. I then had my first cystoscopy. The stent pain sent me to the ER multiple times. Since then I've had 8 cystoscopys, 1 litho., and 1 3 hour Nephroscopy. As of right now I still have 5 stones in my right and so many in my left they can't count them all. ER doc says they look like gravel. All I know do to testing is that I'm low on citrate and my kidneys are spongy.
Avatar n tn 2) On the x-ray kidney stones were detected. So it is more likely to be due to kidney stones and urinary tract infection. UTI is caused by bacteria that get inside your urinary tract. Most bacteria that enter your urinary tract are expelled when you urinate. If the bacteria stay in your urinary tract, you may get an infection. People with kidney stones are more predisposed to UTI’s because any obstruction or blockage in your urinary tract stops your urine from flowing freely.
Avatar m tn Just out of curiosity, have they by any chance done an IVP to check for kidney stones? My father has had MANY kidney stones in the past and sometimes his ONLY symptom is abdominal pain. Normally you would think pain from a kidney stone would be located in teh kidney area, but it does not have to be. My father is now on daily medication that helps keep his body from producing so many kidney stones, but before that he would have them almost every other month!!
1926947 tn?1322990201 Last year I also started having problems with multiple kidney stones. After my first emergency surgery for stones in my left kidney everything went down-hill. I have urethral stenosis, stricture disease and large amounts of scar tissue in my left ureter. The doctor placed a stent that my body rejected and they had to removed it within 4 days. My stones are made up of uric acid however uric acid levels in my blood are normal but in my urine they are sky high.
477616 tn?1211394302 medullary is inside layers of the tissue within and that is WHERE WE FORM OUR STONES .. not like most stone formers whose stones pass out ours sit in the sponge waiting for infections and making pain for us. They are trapped in the sponges. They grow and new ones form. Did the Doc suggest Magnesium at all and low oxalates? Have your stones been tested ? Calcium Oxalate usually is a MSKer's name to fame. And it sounds that way based on your metabollic results you've shared.
Avatar m tn If you have not had an ultrasound scan done of your kidney and urinary tact (including the bladder), it may be a good idea to have that done. You may have kidney stones. Kidney stones can vary in size from as small as a grain of sand. They don't cause any problems until they start to move. Some of the symptoms you mentioned earlier did point to kidney problems and even though there was no urinary infection detected, it does no mean that there is not a problem there.
1981713 tn?1389863765 Blood A small amount of blood in the urine can give it a red tint. Sometimes droplets of blood are seen. A bladder infection, kidney stones or bladder stones can result in urine with red in it. Also, a slight injury to the bladder or kidney can result in bleeding into the urine. Some professional boxers have been known to pass blood in their urine after a fight. If you see what looks like blood in your urine, it is a good idea to go to the doctor to check the condition.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female. I have been having right side abdominal pain for about 1-2 months. It just recently got bad a few weeks ago when I ate out with my boyfriend. Immediately after eating chicken wings I was doubled over in pain. I didn't go to the hospital, and the pain eventually went away. The following days I noticed the pain was there in a constant form. It wasn't as bad as the attack I had, but it hurt. This past Monday I saw my doctor about the pain.
Avatar f tn Hi Alene and welcome to the forum. It is not uncommon for some dogs to eat pebbles and stones. I have no idea why some do this, though there are lots of theories, everything from they are being attracted by the taste of calcium and minerals to filling a period of boredom and, it seems, some dogs develop this as an obsessional trait. It would be wise to try to teach your dog not to eat at pebbles and stones, usinga firm NO if and when you see him doing this.
6320170 tn?1380351097 But was seen on 9/24 and they have scheduled me for surgery to remove the kidney stones 11/25. But I cant get into to see Endo or Rhue or OBGYN until after the first of the year due to me having medicaid and the only specialist who take it are in one facility that has a huge waiting list. Not to mention the fact that even though Ive had all this going on with me. My DR. decides to write all my referals for routine by mistake and didnt fix them until a month later.
Avatar f tn I have Liddle Syndrome, and it is a very rare kidney disease. Very few Doctors know about it. It is passed through families and can be deadly, as I found out a month ago. I would like to get Docs and people to know about this. Kidney Docs usually know but I found out that most MD's don't have a clue. The hospital where I was had to Google it to find out about what I was telling them and then they had to transfer me to a larger hospital to save my life.
Avatar m tn At that time, I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. I have a 25 yr history of kidney stones. About a year ago, my urine started getting progressively darker. I then noticed that there was a sandy, crystal type sediment which has increased in amount over time. About 4 months ago, I started passing a mucousy like substance that almost has a flesh like quality to it with loose skin attached.
Avatar n tn I follow the DASH diet also for my kidney problems as recommended by my Urologist. I wish I could tell you more. Are doctors today that busy to care about an individual? I'm at a loss and trying to harbor anger at them. That just feeds the "beast." I called my gyn's office 2 weeks ago to get a referral for a gyn/onc to be prepared if I get info from the trans/vag US had yesterday. They seemed offended that I was asking.
Avatar n tn I was a very healthy man until around age 30 I was involved in an accident that seems to have been the beginning of my medical downhill slide (though I know the accident didn't cause it all). Even after hearling from bruised ribs, muscle spasms began to mount up and keep me in heightened state of frustration and confusion. My hereditary essential tremor became exponentially worse, and mild, manageable ADD became severe. In 1996 I had double pneumonia with collapse of my lung.
Avatar n tn Few months ago the constant pain, beltching, stomach getting as hard as 9mnth pregnant, felt like someone was sqeezing me around my middle, and the severe stabbing pains started to go around into my back,by right kidney,up into my shoulder.Went to the ER, came out w/UTI.I have had UTI's before never caused so much pain, went back to the Dr another test, Hida scan. Before i went for Hida scan had another attack, so bad, two shots of demerol, and 7 hrs later another UTI.
1358341 tn?1282213443 I would say it could possibly be diet related..You see most kidney prescription diets are actually too low in protein, I have to disagree with professionals that still cling to the old knowledge of "low Protein" for a renal failure cat(I have read that those low protein diets cause malnutrition and muscle wasting)..
1074733 tn?1256235219 Afterwards he had more surgeries for adhesions due to that surgery. He's had kidney stones and a rotator cuff surgery. He is very healthy otherwise and never gets colds or flu. He has a very positive outlook and is always the family cheerleader. He's the positive force that keeps our family going! He's a very avid outdoors man and loves archery. He coaches 4-H and JOAD archery each week. He's still my sweetheart. He asks me out on dates all the time.
Avatar f tn you might want to ask about Kidney stones....those are the kind of symptoms I had right before my 5 stones were diagnosed. (4 of which were during pregnancy ...oh boy!).

Avatar m tn Have healthy breakfast and also see if your mineral intake is proper. Design a proper diet chart for yourself in consultaion with a dietician. Take care!
Avatar n tn I don't understand why we have no rights as patients to be told what they are actually thinking. I saw it in my chart as we were talking, my primary care physcians office refferal nurse indicated that I am "Hypochondrial in nature". Hello. That REALLY ticked me off. I am seeing my chart from my primarys office on Friday. And then that same day seeing my primary doctor too.
Avatar f tn First, I want to thank everyone for their concern, advice & comments. There was something more wrong with Lucky,... he'd gone into kidney failure & his BUN #'s were off the chart!! The normal range is between 7 & 27. Lucky's BUN # was 140 or above - that's as high as their machine would go. We took him to another Vet to get a 2nd oppionion to see if there was anything that could be done.
