Avatar f tn Have you had an IVP test? This is an x-ray with contrast, and is the best test for kidney stones.
Avatar m tn i went back about a month later with same pain, and they finally told me i had 2 kidney stones in my ureter that were blocking my ureter, so my kidney would swell, and thats what caused the pain. the dr sent me to a specialist. i went to see specialist, and he said easy fix, they were gonna put me out, do a lithotripsy and it will be done, quick and easy..... a little while later we find out i'm pregnant! (YAY!
Avatar n tn Recently I've been wondering if there is some occassional liver swelling that causes problems in that area. I've had a few enzyme tests and they have been normal. I wonder if gallbladder can "hide" from tests at times. Is this too low for gallbladder? If it was gallbladder would meds cause pain? Any possibilities outside of gallbladder or liver? Why would a med cause pain? After 2 yrs could pain ever = emergency?
Avatar f tn My daughter is a cosmetologist and she told me the topo causes the hair follicles to close. What has fallen out, wont grow back, but the hair loss should stop when you discontinue the drug. The Topo really messed up my cycle too. I think my adrenals took a hard hit from just two weeks on the drug. For me it was not worth it. I was stupid, depressed and started having panic attacks on it. I would loose blocks of time. Huge blocks.
Avatar f tn This is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to deal with. My beloved Gypsy is dying of kidney failure. Gypsy is a Jack Russell Terrier and she turned 18...yes 18...on Christmas Day. It's just so hard to know when it is "time." I prayed and prayed that she would give us one final parting gift and die on her own in her sleep...but she is SUCH a fighter and refused to surrender to this thing.
Avatar m tn Hello, Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones or diseases like tumors. So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done and a cystoscopy done.
Avatar f tn Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen just below and to the left of navel can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. Since you do not have a lump or a tender hot spot, in all probability it is not a muscle. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia.
Avatar n tn It can also predispose to kidney stones by effecting the same enzyme in the kidney as acetazolamide - therefore the two may be additive in the risk of kidney stones. Kidnet stones can be very painful and have the potential to damage the kidney. The side effects and risks need to be weighed with the benefit with your doctor. You may be ok by keeping well hydrated etc but perhaps their may be a better headache preventative than topamax if you continue to take Diamox.
Avatar n tn Research studies have shown that small bacteria known as Nanobacteria can also lead to placental calcification. This is the same type of bacteria that can lead to kidney stones. As the calcification occurs, the placenta will age prematurely putting the mother and the baby at risk. Other risks for premature placental aging are diabetes and high blood pressure in the mother.
Avatar n tn I had hydrponephrosis twice when I was pregnant with my daughter because of kidney stones, and I was on antibiotics and pain meds and my daughter turned out absolutely fine (delivered at 40wks, healthy weight, absolutely no problems mentally or physically so far...she's about a year and a half old now and very smart and healthy). So I would definitely not worry about the pain meds....taking them is better for her than not taking them.
Avatar f tn This can include kidney disease or kidney stones. Some causes are unexplained. 4) A negative CT scan would make kidney stones less likely. A cytology would make cancer less like, although this is not a very sensitive test. 5) Prostatitis is possible and should be considered if the cystoscopy is negative. 6) Again, cancer is unlikely and has not been diagnosed yet. The cystoscopy would give a more definitive answer. 7) In general, a cystoscopy is a safe procedure.
695104 tn?1442197188 I also have IC-Interstitial Cystitis, and started having kidney stones in my early 20's, have had over 25 so far. I am really having a time with insomnia (can't fall asleep..usually 7-11 am before I do). Of course this makes the exhaustion worse. I also have a lot of stomach issues. One biggie is low level nausea most of the time. Of course this interferes with me eating. And when I do eat, often the "after taste" makes the nausea worse...no matter what it is I eat.
Avatar m tn I get a CT Scan every 6 months and have 4 stones in left kidney and 2 in right kidney. Please read my post about kidney stones (says something like Kidney Stone & this is my story) cause I need someone to talk too or someone that is or has gone through all this agony. You will understand if you go to my post. Thanks for listening/reading. I have been through several urologist & they just don't know.
168348 tn?1379360675 and, thus, don't drink nearly as much as I should and gravitate to the sweeter, more tasty liquids which really is not beneficial to wt. loss or my history of kidney stones. Sometimes really cold with fresh lemon slices .. that is the closest I've come to an answer. So, how do you drink your water plain or flavored and what kind or ideas?
12103503 tn?1423452486 In a perfect scenario we wouldn't have to take anything. I have been taking them for the last couple weeks because of kidney stones. I was worried as well but the pain is unbearable without it however I feel lucky it happened late in pregnancy so major development is finished as there's always a risk. Just make sure to take it only when absolutely necessary and you should be fine.
Avatar m tn Since your wife is prone to kidney stones, she may be prone to gall stones too. In bad cases, they will go ahead and take the gall bladder out even during pregnancy. Have they ruled out any of these three options?
Avatar n tn I don't know of liver biopsies being done to rule out stones in the ducts (isn't that procedure called ERCP?), but I do know they are done to look for all sorts of things - infections, diseases, etc. As far as I know it is fairly common and is not overly risky. Risks are bleeding, injury to the gallbladder & kidney, and collapsed lung according to Yahoo. I would definitely recommend getting it done during your gallbladder surgery.
1601869 tn?1441314348 I've never had a baby but I've had kidney stones and an adult tonsillectomy, both of which were excruciating but I got through it and I'm also not afraid of menstrual cramps. Besides the mirena can be removed if it's not working for you, whereas something like depo has to work its way out of your system gradually and if you're really suffering from bad side effects you can't speed up that process to get it out of your system any faster.
Avatar n tn As the previous poster mentioned, no one lost sight of your question, it is just that we are not doctors, these are issues that need ot be resolved medically, not through conversation. I was recently dx with possible kidney stones, no s/s of an infection, but definite s/s of a kidney stone. It may be too small to see via u/s, there is also a commonly discovered problem during pregnancy dealing with compression of the ureters.
Avatar n tn in fact, be something else -- an abcess, a hepatoma? What is the next step, and -- finally -- are there any risks to laparoscopic exploratory surgery? Thank you very much for any advice or guidance.
231903 tn?1281486184 I have also had a few kidney stones. My gynocologyst mentioned endometriosis, but you cant be sure without a laparoscopy and he said that i should wait till i want to have children before i consider one. BUT, i want to know now, because what if its something other than endo? it could be a number of things. I have went to the same dr for all of my bladder infections, but he doesnt seem to realize how frequently i come. that isnt normal is it?
Avatar f tn I am a 21 yr old woman, and I'm starting to be worried about a few problems I have and I'm wondering what to do and if they are all related. Seeing doctors is not easy because of my "healthy age" and because I have other immediate health issues that take precedence (kidney stones). I have a history of a bit of anxiety following a diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder.
Avatar m tn if it lodges in you heart, it mimics arterial lesions. Calcification or calcium poisoning can manifest as heart disease, cancer, wrinkled skin, kidney stones, osteoporosis, dental problems, bone spurs, cataracts and many other health problems. Calcium deposits in the joints are called arthritis; in the blood vessels it is hardening of the arteries; in the heart it is heart disease, and in the brain it is senility.
Avatar m tn Pullen, PhD Feb 05, 2013 Men who take ascorbic acid supplements daily (approximately 1000 mg) were at increased risk for first incident cases of kidney stones (rate difference, 147/100,000 compared with men who do not take ascorbic acid supplements). This represents a dose-dependent, 2-fold increased risk for kidney stone formation. Laura D.K.
Avatar f tn kidney stones; frequent nausea; uncontrolled projectile vomiting after meals (not self-induced purging, stomach will no longer accept food); hepatic problems (liver); memory loss; perforation of the stomach due to purging; tearing your esophagus (throat); choking or inhaling vomit during purging; coma; brain damage due to coma, electrolyte imbalance, etc.
Avatar f tn (and I have had several kidney stones) The pain was in the middle and right side of my abdomen. My liver enzymes went through the roof and they told me it was a gallstone. Luckily the stone passed but they told me the gallbladder had to come out. Since the surgery all the pain that I had been having over the years is gone. The surgery was painfull for the first few days but the recovery went by quick. Now I still feel a little week but I am ok and for the first time pain free.
475555 tn?1469307939 I thought they determined you to be a stage 2. Is there anything else going on with the gb other than the asymptomatic stones? I like the idea of dissolving than removing. Did the hep doc say you could do any treatment for the HCV?
Avatar n tn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Jennifer, Hydronephrosis is dilatation of the ureter ( the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder ). The common causes during pregnancy are kidney stones and compression from the enlarging uterus. The right side is most commonly affected during pregnancy. This is felt to be due the enlargement of the uterus.
931217 tn?1283484935 [57] Health Benefits of Neutering- Risks of Reproduction - Reproduction itself has potential risks which can be eliminated by neutering.
