kidney-stones

Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn Hi, Causes other than a UTI than can cause blood in urine include, kidney stones, underlying kidney disease, STDs that are not detected on routine urinalysis (chlamydia and mycoplasma infections), increased blood pressure, exercise-induced bleeding, general bleeding disorders, etc. Kidney stones up to 5 mm in size can pass through the urinary tract, though with significant discomfort.
409451 tn?1206900232 I've also been bloated for about 2 months. (Also, my dad has aweful kidney stones) I was referred to urologist, he thinks it's endo, ordered ct scan, but I haven't had it yet...does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues, I'm feeling really lost and confused!!??
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
Avatar f tn 5 years, though I have frequent mild-to-moderate kidney pain, usually in my right kidney. MRI results show at least two 2.0mm stones in each kidney. I passed my second stone (left kidney) a couple of weeks ago, and ever since then, my right kidney has been giving me on-and-off pain. Should I be concerned about this chronic, low grade pain? I always wonder if it's sand passing, but I'm not sure now. The last 2 or 3 urine tests I've had done have all shown a low level of protein in the urine.
15905440 tn?1443866928 we have a long history of thyroid problems (hypo and hyper) that comes from my mother's maternal and paternal side (and includes my mother). My maternal grandfather also has also had kidney stones once that he managed passed his without it causing an infection. Also my mother has a high uric acid level, but has never had any symptoms caused by it.
82861 tn?1333457511 They can become elevated if there is a urinary tract infection, a kidney infection or a prostate infection, or the elevations can be caused by damage to the kidney (either kidney disease or kidney failure). A urinalysis with a microalbuminuria test will determine if it is an infection or kidney failute. Lyme disease can commonly effect the kidneys also causing kidney failure. So if it has not been performed yet I would have your dog's urine tested and perform a lyme disease test.
Avatar n tn Recurrent pain in the flank region after getting treated for urinary tract infections could be due a strong organism causing the infection, decreased immunity inthe patient, any abnormality in the anatomy of the urinary tract, stones in the kidney or ureter, incomplete recovery from previous infection. Did you ever experience these symptoms before? What was the organism which caused the infection? Do you have fever, night sweats, blood in urine, burning sensation?
Avatar f tn I have primary hyperoxaluria type one my liver does not produce and enzyme that take the oxalates out of my body, causing many stones and kidney failure, if your having cronic stones get checked for it, a nephrologist is who u need to see, urologist only treat the the stones effects on you. Not what causes them, I will one day soon need a liver and kidney transplant they will not do only a kidney because it will be destroyed by my liver.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply. I will definitely mention the parathyroid when I have the ultrasound done on Friday. I've actually been to an endocrinologist, urologist and nephrologist and none of them can figure out why I've passed at least 12 kidney stones in the last 4 years and still have "numerous" stones in each kidney. Anytime I mention parathyroid, they all say that couldn't be it since my calcium is normal. I don't know how to get them to investigate it more thoroughly.
Avatar n tn Since there are several posts on Kidney stones, Id like to share my research results that could possibly afford relief to kidney stone sufferers. Magnesium will dissolve kidney stones.... I am a recently retired ICU RN and I did not realize until now how important Magnesium is in our lives. Its important to know whats the right kind to take as well. This knowledge could help so many people out there .. if they only knew so I wanted to help spread the word......
Avatar f tn Hello, Cloudy urine is caused by blood in urine, UTI, bladder infection, kidney stones, gonorrhea and other causes. Glucose can be seen in diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma or it can be transient stress induced.Urobiliongen in urine is seen in UTI or hepatitis. Trace protein can be seen in normal persons also. The presence of 3-5 RBCs in urine can be seen in urinary tract infection; kidney stone etc. and is an indication of further testing. Any test result should be correlated clinically.
3131687 tn?1345115061 My left and right near my stomach feel like it is weighted. Is this really a kidney? I haven't consulted yet with another doctor since my doctor is just a gastroenterologist. I hope to hear words from you. THANK YOU!
278016 tn?1220194704 I have been having multiple health problems for four years shortly after having mono, and kidney stones which were a year and a half apart. Focusing on the kidneys they are constantly sore. When I eat certain foods, especially salty foods, i urinate even more frequently, and leak urine. I have been to a urologist and my bladder is perfectly healthy.
Avatar m tn I have no real past medical history though am bulimic, normally this causes abdo pain, not pain like this (currently waiting for treatment, so please dont lecture me).
635114 tn?1222710503 The ER doctor then did a cat scan to search for kidney stones. He found no kidney stones but did say my atrophic kidney is completely shrived and did not think it was functioning. According to llab results my gfr has decreased by 10% in a year's time. As soon as they did not see infection or kidney stones I was quickly booted out. I reviewed my urinalysis and blood work results when I got home. My ph is 6 and chloride is high at 107.
Avatar f tn I just got back from having a ultrasound done of my gallbladder and the ultrasound tech said I would have to wait til tomorrow til I got my results but she didn't see any stones.. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have been having pain by my right rib now since I've been 20 weeks.. It comes and goes and it always happens after I eat fatty foods.. It's radiates to my back by my right shoulder blade.. It's hard to get comfortable. I'm positive it's my gallbladder but if it's not stones what else is it?
456645 tn?1208679571 That is the more common signs and symptoms are flank pain, blood in the urine, formation of kidney stones and repeated urinary tract infections. In your case, is this a confirmed case of nephroptosis ? What examinations were done to establish the diagnosis? Do you have other associated symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know how you feel, although I haven't had spasms everyday, I have experienced them on occasion. It is worse than kidney stones. Undescribible pain!! It could be a number of things. Your kidney could be floating, you could have hydronephrosis, your renal artery could be obstructed and the blood supply is cut off intermittantly, and of coarse the old kidney stone is a possiblity. You really need some test done to see what is going on. I know how hard it is to find a good urologist.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any problems for awhile, when I was around 15 I occasionally got some pain. I'm 95% sure I get kidney stones and it always seems to be on the right side. Or maybe it's something else with the exact symptoms of stones. I get that kind of pain about once a year. On a daily basis though, I have discomfort now. I just turned 21. It's been gradual and I only started to really think about it recently.
748728 tn?1277297869 My urine calcium was also elevated but not my serum or PTH,however, I have had issues with kidney stones since I was a teen. Go figure. I never went on thyroid medication and tho I sought help from doctors over the years for the above symptoms, my TSH then shifted into the quote"normal range" or sometime's be a little low, even tho I was terribly symptomatic.
Avatar f tn Sounds like kidney stones to me. Go to the doctor for a urinalysis to check for a UTI. If kidney stones are suspected, he/she will probably take xrays.
3183592 tn?1344634338 I squirmed around trying to find any relief, but nothing I did made a difference. I had treated hundreds of patients with kidney stones, but now, I realized, I was the one who was about to wind up in the emergency room. My wife drove me to the hospital where I worked, and I greeted the ER director miserably letting him know that I thought I had a kidney stone.
Avatar n tn Hi, Blood in the urine or hematuria can be due to a problem in the kidneys or other parts of the urinary tract such as kidney or bladder stones; kidney disease following strep throat; infection or inflammation of the bladder, kidney, or urethra; or injury to the kidney. Hematuria, can be classified as microscopic or gross.
Avatar n tn I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY BLADDER,RECURENT INFECTION,SMALL KIDNEY STONES,NOT EMPTYING. MY UROLOGIST SENT ME TO A NEUROLOGIST BECAUSE THE BETHANOCHOL WASNT HELPING. MY MRI OF THE CERVICAL SPINE WAS NORMAL, MY LUMBAR SUGGEST DISC DEGENERATION,LEFT PARACENTRAL DISC PROTRUSION AT THE T12-L1 LEVEL WITH NARROWING OF THE LEFT LATERAL RECESS, COULD THIS BE THE REASON FOR MY LEFT ARM FEELING NUMB AND MY LEFT LEG BEING STIFF FEELING AND A COUPLE OF TIME INTO MY LEFT JAW. WHAT ABOUT MS?
Avatar m tn The common causes of painful urination are urinary tract infection; cystitis, urethritis, kidney stones, sexually transmitted diseases and prostatitis. These are few possibilities. I will advise you to undergo all tests as advised by your doctor. An ultrasound of the urinary system may be helpful. Do write to me again with more details and test results. Best luck and take care!
Avatar m tn It can also be due to other things like cystitis, and kidney stone or polyp in the bladder. You would feel the kidney stone but maybe it is a precursor to it coming through. So there are lots of reasons for blood in the urine. Do you actually see the blood in the urine or did the urinalysis show a few red blood cells. If a few red blood cells that isn't anything to worry about. If a large amount seen on the urinalysis, then it could be a problem.
Avatar m tn So according to test results, I have no kidney infection and no kidney stones because according to my doctor, kidney stones will show some trace of blood in my detailed urine exam. Also note that during the episode of my back/kidney ache, my chest pain was very little to almost gone. Although they came back a little bit but not to the point that i would go crazy.
Avatar n tn Hi, Was a urinalysis and urine culture done? Was any other diagnostic exam done? Urinary stones, an underlying obstruction, history of surgery or instrumentation , and diabetes to name a few may cause some recurrent urinary tract infections .Have these been ruled out? Do keep us posted for your answers.
