Avatar n tn Hello, Nephrolithiasis or stones in kidneys does not cause dizziness but if you are taking any drug for kidney stones, it can be responsible for the kidney stones. You need to consult a physician and get the other causes of dizziness like postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis or compression of cervical spinal nerves ruled out.
Avatar m tn Generally you feel the pain as the stone goes from the kidney, through the ureter, to the bladder. While it just kind of hangs out in the bladder, it causes your bladder to spasm a bit making you feel like you really need to go even though there is not much urine in there. I know it is difficult to do, but try to drink a whole lot of fluid and wait quite awhile before going to the bathroom. Use force when you do go to the bathroom.
Avatar f tn Cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) can be a cause apart from kidney stones. Conditions of the reproductive organs giving rise to pain include endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, fibroids. If you hav ealready consulted a Gynaecologist and any abnormality is ruled out, then it most probably is due to the kidney stones. You can take the medications that have been prescribed for the pain. ref:http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/abdominalpains.

Avatar f tn Peeing out the stone didnt hurt much compared to the extreme pain of the stone traveling out of the kidney itself. Also, find out if he drinks alot of carbonated soda (like coke) or maybe does he drink alot of milk? Those can cause stones to form. Cut back on the intake and that should help too.

Avatar f tn He has theorized that I’m making stones because of infection in the kidney (I have a history of chronic UTI’s, but all of my cultures in the last year have come back negative), a condition like RTA, or my kidneys began hyperfiltrating due to pregnancy. Do these causes sound reasonable? What other tests should I be asking for? How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?
1226479 tn?1267209290 Hello, Presence of blood in urine is called hematuria. Causes include lesions of the urinary tract, disease of the prostate, trauma, tumors, malaria or stones in the urinary tract. In your case as kidney stones are present, so these definitely need evaluation as nephrolithiasis or kidney stones are known to cause hematuria. Moreover it can cause further complications. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I'm not a big fan of chronic pain. I do realize that bloating and water retention is not a symptom of stones, however, i'm hoping that this is the case for me. I'm tired of trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I've had this stone for quite a while now, seems doctors are too busy to listen to their patients, they seem to attribute everything to depression and menapause.
Avatar f tn I have kidney stones about once a year. I had several of my stones analysed and they were made up of calcium. Stones do run in my family, but I know that is not always the case. I have been living with these things for about 10 years. My doctor told me that I am just a stone former, and that I just need to drink lots of water for the rest of my life. If you have never had a kidney stone, then there is no way that you will ever understand the kind of pain it causes.
Avatar f tn I do have small stones in both kidneys but my left kidney never seems to cause me pain. If it's not the stones causing the pain what else should I have my doctors looking for? Thanks for any help any of you can give me.
Avatar n tn Million dollar question - what causes bilateral multiple kidney stones? They keep forming - keep colicing but not passing. Do you go see a urologist, a nephrologist or an endocrinologist? Only had one incident 6 years ago - hyperparathroidism - single adenoma removed, single large stone w/ infection, blocked - had to be removed and scoped out - could not pass even after blasting and stenting.
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.

Avatar n tn recently the problem has become much worse and I have been told I have 2 kidney stones in My left kidney. I had some blood in the urine and pain as well, and may have in fact passed a stone. My concern right now is the frequent urination. Can the 2 remaining stones in the kidney still be causing the urination problem if they are not moveing down the ureter? If the stones are contributing to this problem , would a medication such as Detrol help? Please advise.

Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound, catscan and x-ray done. Also blood test and urine tests. The doctors say it may be kidney stones that they can't see, or it may be a stone that passed which caused swelling of the kidney and the ureter. Someone told me that the swelling may be caused by "parasites" ... Is this true? Please help.
Avatar f tn that if a person with a history or stones drinks 2x as much water as someone with out than we have 1/8 the risk of repeat stones -that it's a cube function. Avatar n tn I'm a 26 year old female, and I am struggling to figure out whether or not I should wait for an appointment the day after tomorrow at my GP or return to the ER (uninsured for another month) Last friday I went to the ER for extreme pain on my left lower flank-- that pain lasted from 7:30 in the morning until 6 at night. They took a urine sample and said there was blood in it, but not a lot and it was probably just a stone.
Avatar f tn Am waiting for an ultrasound to determine whether I have a kidney stone or fibroidsa(due to occasional spotting after intercourse), however the last couple of days the abdominal pain has worsened and I now have an ammonia-like smell in my urine. Could the original thought of kidney stones be the right one?? I can't see where fibroids would affect the smell of my urine. There is no pain with the urination or discolor to the urine. Still have the back pain as well.
Avatar m tn If you are referring to Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) , a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure, this is used to treat enlarged prostate BPH that is causing obstruction. Kidney and bladder stones are usually removed through lithotrpsy or litholaplaxy, It is best that you discuss this with your attending physician also for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
