Kidney stones causes constipation

Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones causes constipation

kidney-stones

Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Kidney stones usually pass out through the urine stream with in 48hours. But this depends upon the size of the stone. A 4mm stone has 80% chances of coming out spontaneously, where as 5mm stone has 20% chances. Stones more than this size usually require treatment. Medical management includes calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers etc. Surgical treatment involves shock wave lithotripsy or percutaneous nephrolithotomy or open surgery.
Avatar f tn Not only what you are experiencing is painful, it is potentially DANGEROUS! Having a bowel movement only every 5-7 days can impact your health negatively in so many different ways. Some potential problems: 1. Toxins and bacteria (including newly produced ones in the trapped stool from the disintegration ) can leak into the blood circulation and cause septicimia. 2.

Avatar f tn Here they tested blood and urine and said no infection could be found but could be kidney stones and would send me for ultra sound to check. They put me on fluids and a drip of paracetamol over night. the next morning i woke up to very swollen hands and face but was told it wasn't bad enough to consider a concern and was forgotten about.
Avatar f tn I have primary hyperoxaluria type one my liver does not produce and enzyme that take the oxalates out of my body, causing many stones and kidney failure, if your having cronic stones get checked for it, a nephrologist is who u need to see, urologist only treat the the stones effects on you. Not what causes them, I will one day soon need a liver and kidney transplant they will not do only a kidney because it will be destroyed by my liver.
Avatar m tn I have no real past medical history though am bulimic, normally this causes abdo pain, not pain like this (currently waiting for treatment, so please dont lecture me).
Avatar m tn It can also be due to other things like cystitis, and kidney stone or polyp in the bladder. You would feel the kidney stone but maybe it is a precursor to it coming through. So there are lots of reasons for blood in the urine. Do you actually see the blood in the urine or did the urinalysis show a few red blood cells. If a few red blood cells that isn't anything to worry about. If a large amount seen on the urinalysis, then it could be a problem.
Avatar n tn Hi, "Three conditions make up the "classic triad" of kidney cancer. Hematuria is the most common. Hematuria is the presence of blood in the urine. Often, the blood can be seen with the naked eye (a condition called gross hematuria). Blood may also be present in microscopic amounts, detectable only by urinalysis. Hematuria occurs in sixty percent of patients. Pain is a symptom in forty percent of cases. The pain is felt in the lower back, just below the ribs, and is constant.
231903 tn?1281486184 Hi Left flank pain is generally due to kidney stones. The other causes could be crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle, periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia, aortic aneurysm, ovary involvement (it is possible you now have on left side), ectopic pregnancy, or endometriosis. Do discuss this with your doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn I think that most pain meds cause either constipation or diarrhea. With me it is constipation. When you finally have a bowel movement it pulls on the adhesions worse than if you don't have to strain. If they cause diarrhea, then you have the spasms, which also pulls on the adhesions that connect the organs. It's a lose, lose situation. My pain is worse, however, if I am constipated than if I have diarrhea.
Avatar f tn My daughter is a cosmetologist and she told me the topo causes the hair follicles to close. What has fallen out, wont grow back, but the hair loss should stop when you discontinue the drug. The Topo really messed up my cycle too. I think my adrenals took a hard hit from just two weeks on the drug. For me it was not worth it. I was stupid, depressed and started having panic attacks on it. I would loose blocks of time. Huge blocks.
661200 tn?1225486613 I have just returned from the vet and fund out this morning that my 12 year old Golden Retriever-Lab called Topaz has an enlarged heart and Kidney stones. Because of the heart condition the vet doesnt want to put him under general anesthesia for kidney stone surgery. I live in New Delhi and the resources are limited. However, I am doing the best I can and praying for a healthy and happy dog.
Avatar m tn I have a history of kidney stones and already have another calcium deposit that has developed in my left kidney (just 5 months after lithotripsy!). I also suffer from low testosterone and GERD and take Testim and Nexium, daily. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there such a thing as a hernia that can't be seen on ulrasound? Can a back injury cause these symptoms (the middle of my back has hurt during all this time, but only when in certain positions. Dead center, on spine.

Avatar m tn So according to test results, I have no kidney infection and no kidney stones because according to my doctor, kidney stones will show some trace of blood in my detailed urine exam. Also note that during the episode of my back/kidney ache, my chest pain was very little to almost gone. Although they came back a little bit but not to the point that i would go crazy.
Avatar n tn Just wondering if somebody can tell me if this sounds like something that could be caused by kidney stones. My thoughts immediately turned to some sort of cancer since I thought they usually used an ultrasound (not a CAT scan) to check for stones. Any help appreciated for a very worried wife. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women (cysts, hemorrhage, tumor, torsion—torsion is a medical emergency and a long standing pain is not due to this), ectopic pregnancy in women, mesentry (a thin tissue that carries the blood, nerves and lymphatics for the intestine) involvement low blood supply, enlarged lymphnodes, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle (these two are unlikely
Avatar n tn Pain and discomfort on the lower left side of abdomen just below and to the left of navel can be due to several causes such as Crohn’s disease, colitis, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, adhesions, IBS, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle. It can also be due to inguinal hernia. Your husband would need to see a doctor to find out the cause of pain. If it is due to gas then walking around, taking some antacids and medication for gas may help.

1930941 tn?1400111122 I do have a past of kidney stones. About 9 months ago, I had a xray...showed no visable stones. Does anyone know what could be causing this pain? I have never had it like this before. I did not pull a muscle.
Avatar f tn Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower left abdomen pain. It could also be a periumbilical hernia that has got trapped resulting in small bowel obstruction or mesenteric ischemia. An ultrasound or CT scan of abdomen is definitely required. Aortic aneurysm too can present this way.

Avatar f tn Other causes of back pain like diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney infection, kidney stones, and bowel problems like constipation, pain arising from muscles and skin over left side abdomen. Any history of trauma to the chest should be noted down. You need to undergo radio imaging (MRI/CT), urine analysis and as well as ECG (cardiac causes) to rule out the above causes. I suggest you to consult physician and get evaluated. Take care and regards.
