Avatar n tn The cramp like feeling could occur due to the renal stone, GU infections, GI causes, neuro-muscular causes etc. You could try taking some OTC anti-spasmodics and see if it helps to relieve the pain. If the pain is sever, a visit to the ER may be considered. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hello, Nephrolithiasis or stones in kidneys does not cause dizziness but if you are taking any drug for kidney stones, it can be responsible for the kidney stones. You need to consult a physician and get the other causes of dizziness like postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis or compression of cervical spinal nerves ruled out.
Avatar f tn I donot trust that this pain can be of stones as usually what I have heard and read is that stones causes too severe pains that are intermittent. Please suggest which other tests I should take and what this could be..can this be a gastric problem. Any idea would be helpful.
Avatar f tn When I got the kidney stones, they can test them or analyze them to see what type they are and what causes them. I believe there are 3 types of stones. My stones are caused from too much calcium in my diet so I am suppose to watch that! They say once you get kidney stones you are prone to them. I know in my family history my dad had kidney stones, then me, my two brothers and my sister ended up getting them. Then my niece and nephew had a bout with them also..

Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).
1226479 tn?1267209290 Causes include lesions of the urinary tract, disease of the prostate, trauma, tumors, malaria or stones in the urinary tract. In your case as kidney stones are present, so these definitely need evaluation as nephrolithiasis or kidney stones are known to cause hematuria. Moreover it can cause further complications. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.

Kidney stones are more likely to occur if you make less than 1 liter of urine a day. That's slightly more than a quart. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001493/ I have had chronic kidney stones since my early 20's so I am familiar with the pain involved, not very pleasent.
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn Million dollar question - what causes bilateral multiple kidney stones? They keep forming - keep colicing but not passing. Do you go see a urologist, a nephrologist or an endocrinologist? Only had one incident 6 years ago - hyperparathroidism - single adenoma removed, single large stone w/ infection, blocked - had to be removed and scoped out - could not pass even after blasting and stenting.
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar n tn recently the problem has become much worse and I have been told I have 2 kidney stones in My left kidney. I had some blood in the urine and pain as well, and may have in fact passed a stone. My concern right now is the frequent urination. Can the 2 remaining stones in the kidney still be causing the urination problem if they are not moveing down the ureter? If the stones are contributing to this problem , would a medication such as Detrol help? Please advise.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound, catscan and x-ray done. Also blood test and urine tests. The doctors say it may be kidney stones that they can't see, or it may be a stone that passed which caused swelling of the kidney and the ureter. Someone told me that the swelling may be caused by "parasites" ... Is this true? Please help.
Avatar f tn I have been struggling for the past several years with 7 kidney stones. I have successfully passed 4 of them to be told there are 5 more to go and a kidney cyst to boot! Avatar n tn What would the probable main cause of Kidney stones in a 50 Year old female, considered to be in general good health? What treatment should be considered once the stones are gone?

Avatar f tn Anyone suffer from kidney or gull stones in 3rd trimester what did u do to treat how bad was it did u still work?
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Kidney stones usually pass out through the urine stream with in 48hours. But this depends upon the size of the stone. A 4mm stone has 80% chances of coming out spontaneously, where as 5mm stone has 20% chances. Stones more than this size usually require treatment. Medical management includes calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers etc. Surgical treatment involves shock wave lithotripsy or percutaneous nephrolithotomy or open surgery.
192055 tn?1263559137 Hi, Kidney stones may be due to dehydration, diet, chronic stress, genetics, and even cadmium poisoning. If one parent had kidney stones, there is an increased risk in his or her children.Kidney stones tend to be recurring, typically reforming within seven years. In serious cases of kidney stones an ultrasound that breaks down the stones may be advised. I hope this helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Parathyroid which also causes depression, mood swings, kidney stones, calcium overproduction, etc. Think about it.
Avatar n tn I'm a 26 year old female, and I am struggling to figure out whether or not I should wait for an appointment the day after tomorrow at my GP or return to the ER (uninsured for another month) Last friday I went to the ER for extreme pain on my left lower flank-- that pain lasted from 7:30 in the morning until 6 at night. They took a urine sample and said there was blood in it, but not a lot and it was probably just a stone.
Avatar f tn It's only considered pre-existing if you have been treated for an ongoing problem with your kidney. Individual kidney stones cannot be considered pre-existing. Get a ct scan from a doctor then talk to a urologist if it is a kidney stone. I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok.
Avatar f tn The foul smelling urine doesn't fit, unless there's a coincident urinary tract infection along with kidney stones, which may be seen in struvite kidney stones. Ultrasound is the safest investigation to figure this out, as there's no radiation involved. If your pain still hasn't gotten any better even after a few weeks I would see your doctor to make the ultrasound urgent, as symptomatic kidney stones left too long can cause problems for your kidneys.
