Avatar f tn Hello! I am 23 yo female and I have always had Kidney problems/bladder problems. I can not count how mnay UTI's and Kidney infections I have had. The past four weeks I have had a really bad pain in my kidneys, I sleep like 15 hours a day, and I have no appetite. I have also lost 10 pds in about 4 weeks. I went to the doctor today and she said it was kidney stones but I need to go see a Urologist.
Avatar f tn Hi, Kidney stones often do not cause any symptoms. Usually, there is extreme pain, which begins suddenly when a stone moves in the urinary tract and blocks the flow of urine. If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain continues as the muscles in the wall of the narrow ureter try to squeeze the stone into the bladder. As the stone moves and the body tries to push it out, blood may appear in the urine, making the urine reddish.
Avatar n tn Since having kidney stones currently and knowing what they feel like not being pregnant, I can safely say that I have had stones at least 3 other times between the ages of 17 and 27 (pain at that time was diagnosed as most likely a cyst -- when pain was severe - shortly thereafter went away - they said cyst burst - i am confident that the pain was kidney stones). With that being said, I'm tired of getting the kidney stones (as well as the tiredness, soreness and moodiness).
320576 tn?1204087293 7 million and elevated ALT/AST) Unfortunatley he has been in and out of ER all weekened for what they think is Kidney Stones. At first they said lots of blood in urine but CT show no stones so they were going to admit. Then they come in and say they found a 3mm kidney stone, gave him a ton of meds and said to follow up with PC. But they also said he is developing an ileus which is some sort blockage or something and his liver felt enlarged and stiff (we go for Ultra Sound on Nov 19th.
Avatar m tn I'm VERY sorry that you are having so many problems with your kidney stones. I imagine that they would be VERY painful!!! Here on MH - Med Help - we have a Forum that is devoted entirely to Kidney Disease and Disorders. I think that they might be able to give you more complete answers when it comes to the diet you should be following. I think if you will re-post over there you will be able to get even MORE help.
Avatar n tn I have had numerous kidney infections and stones over the past few years. I had a stent recently put in because of a narrowing at the UPJ. I am having alot of pain from the stent. My Uro. said before he put the stent in that I would be able to resume a normal life while the stent is in place. I have frequency, I have to go about 30 times in a 24 hr. period and I am taking ditropan xl 5mg. I am also on pryidium plus 2x's a day.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.0mm usually move out on their own with a high % of non-complications, etc.
Avatar f tn There are other types as well ( cystine, struvite , uric) Kidney stones may hold a genetic predisposition. In your case, the presence of kidney formers in the family may explain the onset of kidney stones at an earlier age. It is best to open lines of communication with your physicians. At this point, you may discuss on whether a referral to a pain management specialist may help.Continue following physician's advice regarding diet, fluid intake and exercise.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with kidney stones almost 3 years ago but I did not get them removed as my Dr told me they could not kill me or cause any life threatening diseases, but recentley I have noticed a little bit of stomach discomfort, I would like to say pain but it doesnt hurt , it kind of feels like something is there like gas, and my stomach gurgles a little bit and once in a while I will feel a little bit of a slight pinching pain in different spots over my belly , it feels like its through the b
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar m tn Some doctors also recommend Tamsulosin to speed the passage of stones Lithotripsy is a good option for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Simple kidney cysts usually do not affect kidney function, but if it is causing symptoms or blocking the flow of blood or urine through the kidney it may need to be treated .Without knowing a detailed medical history it may be difficult to determine whether the cyst is causing stones. It is best to discuss your concerns with a nephrologist.
Avatar n tn Hi, Causes other than a UTI than can cause blood in urine include, kidney stones, underlying kidney disease, STDs that are not detected on routine urinalysis (chlamydia and mycoplasma infections), increased blood pressure, exercise-induced bleeding, general bleeding disorders, etc. Kidney stones up to 5 mm in size can pass through the urinary tract, though with significant discomfort.
Avatar n tn Abdominal CT scan, xrays or ultrasound of the kidneys will confirm the diagnosis of kidney stones. Menstruation problems are hormone and stress related. It would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Pregnancy test would also help rule out pregnancy. Drink plenty of fluids and over-the-counter pain medications may also help. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn he examined it and he said it's fine and told me to have a urinary test, blood sample, ultra sound to find out any problems in my kidney. ( i reminded him that i had a high calcium oxalate level so probably thats were he got his conclusion from). the thing is when i got home, my urge to urinate lessened to my surprise. why is that? i didn't take any medications and could it possibly be from the rectum examination? and is all this check up like the ultra sound necessary?
Avatar f tn I have two kidney stones in one kidney and two stones in the other. They are two big to pass (6 and 7 mm) so the doctor is putting me on a medication for the next three months in the hopes of dissolving them. He did say they are non-dissolvable, so I am confused. I have blood in my urine, which triggered the ultrasounds of my kidneys and bladder. I don't understand why he didn't give me the option of a lithotrypsy. I am trying to get pregnant, so I don't know if that was a reason.
409451 tn?1206900232 I feel like I'm sitting sitting on glass before my period and a little into it so I always know when I am going to get my flow. Endo and kidney stones can cause bladder problems however endo doesn't produce blood in your urine not that I have heard of anyway but don't quote me on that. Most cases when there is blood in your urine is when you have a uti or kidney stones.
Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
Avatar m tn I have had one ultrasound, confirmed a kidney stone. Then I had a CT scan which confirmed a few kidney stones. I felt alot better. Stomach problems went away. Fast foreward a couple weeks later and I am in alot of pain again. Horrible bloating, Nausea, Horrible stomach and back pains. I went to the ER on Friday, Doc gave me a CT scan, blood work, urine sample. Everything came back good, no blood in urine, no infection present.
Avatar n tn Weturner, there IS a connection between "bipolar" and kidney stones. His 'bipolar' symptoms and kidney stones are very possibly caused by the same thing. It is called Hyperparathyroidism. Most people have never heard of PARAthyroid glands. But we all have four of them. Please have your husband's parathyroid checked out by the best expert you can find. I was put on medications for years for mental things such as bipolar, I was also getting kidney stones a lot.
Avatar m tn - calcium oxalate struvite uric cystine The rarest form of kidney stones is Cystine stones. Cystinuria is an inherited condition that affects the amount of acid that is passed in the urine. Struvite stones are caused by recurrent kidney infections. Uric stones are caused when there is too much uric acid in the urine with rheumatic conditions like gout. Calcium oxalate stones can from with too much protein in the diet, too much calcium and Vitamin D and through dehydration.
Avatar n tn I suffer from what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (google it) which causes chronic kidney stones. Many people have this disease with no signs until they are much olde. When their kidneys begin to fail them. Diarrhea is related because when the stone is stuck in the ureter ( the tube leading down to your bladder from your kidney) this sends a message to your entire digestive tract to stop.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had kidney stones w/o having blood in urine? My daughter had stones in Feb. Has had other problems since. Still following up on all of that with dr. The last several days she has had severe abdominal pain again on/off. Went to dr yesterday just for a urine ck, no blood they said. She was fine for the rest of the day. Then in the night woke up with terrible pain. I had to give her pain meds from when she had the stones before. Any advice is appreciated... Thanks.
Avatar n tn doesnt combo treatment in general cause some kidney problems? i guess if it keeps hurting ill have to go see the doc. anyone got any input on this? thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Kidney stones and ejaculation problems may not be related. Kidney stones are formed due to the deposition of minerals salts within the urinary tract. And frequent ejaculations could be hormone related. I would advise you to consult your primary care physician for evaluation. He may do blood counts, urinalysis, lipid profile, and measurements of creatinine, liver enzymes, and free testosterone in the blood. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
