643805 tn?1243968843 It depends on the size and composition of the stones, how easy they are to get rid of them, home cures are Lemon and Olive Oil, and drinks loads of mineral water and avoid caffinated drinks.
1165078 tn?1338655745 I've been on Keppra for over 3 yrs now, other than gain weight as soon as I was put on the drug, I've had numerous UTI's and kidney infec. as well as Kidney stones, I reduced my dosage by half (1000mg/day down to 500mg/day) over a period of 4 months last yr, still szr free, and blood levels come back with in therapeutic range (something my Neuro can't quite explain yet isn't making me go back up to the 1000mg/day). But I'm having more kidney issues.. am I alone on this?
Avatar f tn From the symptoms you have mentioned, he seems to be having a serious kidney infection which may have been caused or aggravated by obstruction due to the kidney stones. Reddish and cloudy urine indicates that there is hemorrhage somewhere along the urinary tract, if not from the kidney itself, and this can be accompanied by pus cells in the urine.
Avatar n tn Would that present the same symptoms as a kidney stone? I have had confirmed kidney stones in the past and this feels the same. Tomorrow I am supposed to get an x-ray of my spine. Any suggestions?????
Avatar n tn kidney stones develop by dehydration, weight loss, exercise and diet, if they are not treated they can grow and just cause more and more pain if you dont get them treated the pain may go away but it will come back believe me i have had them myself and the treatment is absolutly nothing well worth having it doent hurt its just lazer treatment which sounds scary but isnt its just like someone is tapping in the same spot repeadedly for about an hour and thats it.
Avatar n tn May be wise to have your labs checked Creatinine and BUN and GFR for kidney function.
Avatar f tn t seem to figure out what was causing it, my mom chimed in and MADE them check for kidney stones and lo and behold, that was it!!! So don't let your docs tell you that they're not going to check for kidney stones or that you can't have them just becuase you don't have the "typical" back pain for them. It can and does happen. Blood in the urine can be one of the symptoms of a kidney stone also, but again, does not have to happen.
Avatar n tn I had a stone that blocked my kidney and even after blasting would not come out without being scooped out. This was in my left kidney. Kidneys were both checked out thoroughly for damage and other stones - neither of which was found. Questions are...Since it has been two months and I haven't passed any stones are they likely to just stay put? If the larger one gets stuck after I have my surgery will they be able to go in and get it out without cutting me or screwing up the TVT?
Avatar f tn I have only been on Topamax for my migraines since November 2010 and by January I had four kidney stones. One in my left kidney and three in my right. Now I have been taken off Topamax and it was so far the best medication for my migraines I was on 100mg of Topamax and went from having a migraine everyday to once a month. I miss Topamax but the pain of my kidney stones was much worse.
Avatar m tn A few points in response to above to myself----kidney stones take a few months to form. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have not had the elevated calcium that long--so now I think maybe it's not the calcium that caused my issue. I also mentioned above that I dropped 90 pounds in just a few months. I have read that rapid weight loss leads to acidic urine, which can lead to stone formation. That was news to me.
Avatar f tn Hi - are you talking about your weight loss tracker? You have that set to "private" so only you can see it. Are you having difficulty finding the tracker, or are you wanting to re-set your goals? We'd love to help, but I'm having trouble understanding what you're wanting to do. Any additional info you can provide would help.
Avatar m tn Emerg visit this month showed (big surprise) on CT, two left kidney stones 2-3 mm, one in kidney and one between bladder and kidney. This is the first time CT has been done laying on stomach. If part of this has been kidney stones all along, why might I be getting severe abdominal bloat with these episodes? I have not passed stone yet (week 3) but put on Flomax 3 days ago and bloat seems to be reducing. Thanks for your suggestions.
Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
1010757 tn?1279441304 Hi there, I went into the ER today for suspected kidney stones, and the DR ordered a CTSCAN- The scan came back that I have a teratoma (dermoid?) cyst & stones (yay for me! lol). He sent me home with pain killers (enough for 2 days wtf!) and told me to follow up with my family Dr. I don''t HAVE a family doctor, so I guess I have to contact amy old gyn/ob to follow up with and pray he sees me because this pain is BRUTAL ON to the questions..sorry I know..
1045176 tn?1253403447 a popular seizure medication has the side effect of giving some people kidney stones... and, as everyone knows, kidney stones are VERY PAINFUL!!! Now, not everyone who takes the seizure medication will get kidney stones, only a few people will.
Avatar f tn I am a 400 lbs woman. I have kidney stones that range from 3cm to 4cm and up. The one i have now is 4cm. I have stones in both of my kidneys.I also have been to 3 -4 different doctors. They all have said that I am too fat, they are unable to take care of me. The stones are calcium phosphate. What i would like to know, besides loosing weigh, how can they be destroyed? I have been watching what i eat, that has calcium in it, and i still get them? Please let me know what i can do.
Avatar f tn I wonder if anybody else has experienced diarrhea with kidney stones? I have had upwards of 40 kidney stones in the past four years but somehow still have no answers as to why my body is producing these or how to relieve them. And i never fail to turn up new symptoms or troubles. I have been having dark urine and a lot of kidney pain lately and I'm sure I have another stone working its way out of my kidney...
Avatar f tn How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger? Are these stones causing damage to my kidneys? They don’t seem to be causing any blockages based on the ultrasounds that have been done, but I still have had frequent flank pain and blood visible in my urine prior to the surgery. Is there any hope that I will be able to be stone free and prevent more stones?
Avatar m tn m 19 years old and I have been having intense pain in my kidney area on both sides for about 4 months, and I have been to 2 urologists. While they have diagnosed me with kidney stones and they said that I have a couple of small stones in each kidney, but they are not blocking anything so they are not the cause of my pain. I have also been to a physical therapist who said it is not musculoskeletal. I have also been having hematuria for at least 2 months.
Avatar m tn Has anyone here with kidney stones tried vitamin B6 and magnesium to prevent new stones from forming? I read a study that concluded that taking 50 mg of B6 daily with 300 mg of magnesium oxide (one of the least absorbable forms of magnesium) will prevent future kidney stones. I also read that potassium and B6 does the same. Perhaps the magnesium works because potassium is better absorbed if there is sufficient magnesium.
Avatar m tn kidney stones can be very recurring and can start very young, although ive never heard of someone getting them in their early teens.. usually early 20s, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen earlier. it sounds like you will have to sit in some pain until you get insurance again. you can try to seek out clinics, but theyre not very good at helping. get your insurance back and go to a dr, because if you have them so often, you might have something else going on.
Avatar f tn Thx for your response I have passed one of the stones in the hospital a few days ago still have another in my right ureter and a 7mm in my right kidney and several small stones 35 wks pg now and they are going to induce me in two weeks due to the kidney stones causing contractions and wanting me to have lithotripsy after her birth. I was told I wouldn't be able to pass the 7mm stone without intervention what are my chances with that they said its in the middle of the kidney.
