Avatar n tn I have done this for 11 months and had no UTI's and no kidney stones since then. I was always getting 'burning and smelly urine and no infection. Now I get none of that and if I miss 2 night of taking them, the smelly urine is back and the slight burning. My Doctor says that Cranberry is not toxic either and that we urinate what we dont need like most other vitamins. Allow 3-4 days before seeing some effect. Worth a try....
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.0mm usually move out on their own with a high % of non-complications, etc.
Avatar n tn kidney stones need assessed by a nephrologist and also sometimes may be a calcium disorder and endocrinologists see this as well.
Avatar n tn I am 21 weeks pregnant and went to the hospital a few days ago in severe pain. Ultrasound revealed that I had water around my kidney and a blockage, which was caused by a kidney stone. I was given an epidural and a stent was inserted, which alleviated my immediate pain. I am now home, and the stent is very uncomfortable; I cannot do any activities because of the pinching and aching it is causing me. I was not given any pain medication or was even told what to expect.
7808984 tn?1406684565 Because i still felt them through the pills. Water, water, water, lay off the caffeine and calcium based foods i.e., milk, ice cream, until you can find out what the stones are made of. I had one dr tell ask me if i eat alot of spinach, which i do, and he told me to lay off that as well, for awhile. Just q funny note....i had no medical insurance at the time and ended up paying cash when i ended up in the e.r., and i told the dr upfront b/c he wanted to admit me. I was like noooo way!!
Avatar n tn Do you agree that it was kidney stones? And that we are doing the right thing with the cyst..taking the wait and see approach?
Avatar m tn The doctor said that I have nothing to worry about, that these are just salt deposits that will go away if I drink enough water and take some pills for a month. I've searched the internet and found that kidney stones and salt deposits are the same thing. He said the pain in my abdomen was probably due to one of the deposits passing. He said that the pain that I 'think' is in my right kidney is more than likely my back. Can somebody please help me?

Avatar f tn It took a while but the pain I was having was finally diagnosed as a kidney stone and I have another symptomatic one in the other kidney. But I wonder if kidney stones cause anemia because I suddenly became anemic just over a year ago and we have not been able to find a cause. Although I had occult blood in my urine due to the stone, it was not a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this too or if anyone might know if stones can cause anemia?
Avatar f tn However they weren't able to see any stones. Ultimately they sent me home with morphine pills and a strainer to pee in and told me if the pain doesn't improve or worsens in a week, come back. 2 days pass and the pain improves but still haven't passed a stone, I developed a new very annoying symptom.. a very strong constant urge to urinate.
Avatar f tn MRI results show at least two 2.0mm stones in each kidney. I passed my second stone (left kidney) a couple of weeks ago, and ever since then, my right kidney has been giving me on-and-off pain. Should I be concerned about this chronic, low grade pain? I always wonder if it's sand passing, but I'm not sure now. The last 2 or 3 urine tests I've had done have all shown a low level of protein in the urine.
Avatar f tn Since there are several posts on Kidney stones, Id like to share my research results that could possibly afford relief to kidney stone sufferers. I am a recently retired ICU RN and I did not realize until now how important Magnesium is in our lives. Its important to know whats the right kind to take as well. This knowledge could help so many people out there .. if they only knew so I wanted to help spread the word......
Avatar m tn Hello, i am a 20 year old student and recently found that i have two kidney stones. I believe they have both moved from my kidney to my bladder and was wondering how long it takes to pass them through my urine once they are already in my bladder. These stones are 1mm and 2mm and also i was wondering to what extent the pain is going to be when i pass them?
Avatar n tn Nurse talked to me about the symptoms and said it might just be muscle/ligament pain or kidney stones. She told me to take Tylenol and they would check me out at my next appointment, next TUESDAY morning. (they did offer an emergency spot for me today/thursday but it was during class that I couldn't miss even though it meant that I was sitting there in tears during the test). She told me if it got too bad to go back to the ER. Anyways. tylenol isn't touching the pain.
Avatar n tn Since then, the pain has continued and my urologist cannot find any stones in my ureter through x-ray and IVP. He believes that the small stones in my kidney cannot be causing the pain and the stone in my ureter must be gone. He is now telling me to have my ovaries checked. I do not believe for one second that it is anything but a kidney stone. You ALL know the pain. It is the same as it has always been.
Avatar f tn Stories like this make me so mad!! As for what can help you, I dont know..ive never had kidney stones but my mom and brother have and nothing helped them when they were in the worst of it either. The only thing i can suggest to you is this... can you get them removed /crushed via ultrasonic waves? I think they call it lithotripsy (sp?). THats what my mom had done..she sat in a hottub and ultrasonic waves thru the water shattered her stones.
600139 tn?1219682372 Please keep in mind that glutathione in any form breaks down in the GI tract when taken orally and is poorly absorbed. There is no benefit from these pills and this is why medical doctors use glutathione intravenous injections instead on their patients who are in need of the antioxidant glutathione to help strengthen their immune system, patients who suffer from cancer, HIV/AIDS, ADHD, etc.
443757 tn?1217554790 For my first few months of treatment I probably didnt drink nearly enough water and too much caffeine, but for the last 2 mos have drank plenty of water and hardly any caffeine. Could the kidney pain be due to taking too many Riba pills and not drinking enough water? Has anyone else experienced this while going through treament? The pain is very intermittent and is not severe whatsoever, but I feel it. I will talk to my GI at my next appt about this.
Avatar f tn Each time at the ER I am prescribed pain meds and anti nausea pills and sent home. I am passing stones again and last trip to ER after cat scan I was told I have so many stones in both kidneys they didn't even bother counting. I finally have a appt with a urologist today at 2:30. My questions are....for the past 3 days I have been on a all liquids diet. Always two gallons of water by my bed to suck down. I have not drank anything but water.
Avatar f tn If I end up back at the Drs surgery I will be sure to mention kidney stones and see what he says
Avatar f tn We were shuttled around several doctors and treated for different disorders such as kidney stones, hernias, bladder and kidney bacterial infections and peptic ulcers to no avail. Some thought we were crazy. Ultimately, a worm ova (for Schistosoma) was found in both our urine sediments and we were treated with praziquantel. There are other medications specific for different parasites.
Avatar n tn I take atenelol and Cenestin (HRT) and I also have IBS and have been diagnosed with (since I have no gall bladder) having problems with bile. I have noticed several, several times that I pass my pills on particularly sensitive days for my stomach. Sometimes they appear to be in a capsule form, other times they are barely covered by a 'gel' like substance but I can clearly see what they are - even with gloves, getting them, I can break into them and see my pills.

Avatar f tn Could i have kidney stones? people say the pain pills might effect it because my kidney filters out the toxins from the pills.
470425 tn?1246926200 Hi, Gallstones and kidney stones are two different disease entities and there seems to be no association between these two. Although, when one reviews the mechanisms involved in stone formation, the condition of supersaturation ( that is more concentrated urine or bile ) plays a role for both structures. In kidneys, stones form given the right conditions. Dehydration plays a role, which concentrates the substrates for stone formation ( eg calcium).
Avatar f tn Since I started going to my nephrologist and getting medication (potassium and water pills) I have found that I have alot more good days than I used to. My past experience with urologists has made me decide that they are only a last resort for treatment.
Avatar f tn I was pretty sure it was my kidney, because friday I had a lower UTI and saturday night I was having painful spasms in my side and back that was bringing me to my knees. When I went to the doctor he noticed that there was a lot of infection in my urine. He had a CT Scan done to check for any other organs that may be causing the pain.
