Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms of feeling to urinate associated with kidney stones can be due to strangury. It is painful, frequent urination of small volumes that are expelled slowly only by straining and despite a severe sense of urgency. Get the size of kidney stones evaluated. Drink plenty of water and talk to your nephrologist regarding the treatment of kidney stones which include pain killers, trying avoiding taking calcium rich foods. If the symptoms persist then surgical intervention is needed.
Avatar m tn I am very, very fatigued, feel like i have the flu and i'm i have edema in my legs and my stomache is bloated and distented. is the edema, fatigue and flu like symptoms related to the kidney stone. i'm have it crushed next week so i can pass it, and i'm hoping all these symptoms will pass along with the stone.
Avatar m tn Every time I urinate ( which is like 20 times a day) it feels like I'm passing blades and I get a sharp pain in my kidney. There is also blood present that I can see, but not every time I urinate, mostly in the mornings and later in the evenings. I must admit that the pain is getting better everyday. My question is, are all these symptoms normal and when can I take the pipe thingy out?
Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.
Avatar f tn When I got the kidney stones, they can test them or analyze them to see what type they are and what causes them. I believe there are 3 types of stones. My stones are caused from too much calcium in my diet so I am suppose to watch that! They say once you get kidney stones you are prone to them. I know in my family history my dad had kidney stones, then me, my two brothers and my sister ended up getting them. Then my niece and nephew had a bout with them also..
Avatar n tn im having problems of kidney stones and im suffering dizziness is it one of the sympthoms of kidney stones?? I feel dizzy when my kidney is having pain.
Avatar f tn An accurate diagnosis is only possible based on detailed examination, including history and physical signs and symptoms. From the symptoms you have mentioned, he seems to be having a serious kidney infection which may have been caused or aggravated by obstruction due to the kidney stones. Reddish and cloudy urine indicates that there is hemorrhage somewhere along the urinary tract, if not from the kidney itself, and this can be accompanied by pus cells in the urine.
Avatar f tn Water may wash out the crystals before they build up leading to fewer stones and keeping the kidney healthy.
Avatar f tn I have a 15 yr. history with kidney stones. I had my most recent attack 3 weeks ago and it was one of the longest enduring of any I've had, with the most severe flank and ureter pain lasting almost 12 hrs. The last couple hours of the horrible pain, I experienced what I would almost call spasms very low down, and I've never had that before in any of the other attacks. I had waves of pain and the urge to urinate every few minutes.
Avatar f tn UTI can also be due to the polycystic kidney disease as well. Kidney stones and kidney failure are late-stage symptoms of the disease. I suggest you an immediate urologist’s evaluation. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option. Also her renal functions need to be studied.
Avatar m tn i have been to see my gp a month ago with kidney stones, painfull cramps ,the pain has gone but im passing alot of blood when i urinate and it also stings when i urinate which is about 20 times a day im male and 29 years old any help please
997798 tn?1250093033 Hi. I have had stones for over 30 years and only over the past 5 years had the symptoms you describe. Is the stone exiting the right kidney? <<<<"along with the pain I now have on my right side" = FLANK PAIN. Please google it and see if it matches up to the pain on the side. Is this your first stone? You need to do 24 hour urines and have the stone analyized, VERY important. DRINK DRINK DRINK ALL THE WATER YOU POSSIBLY CAN FORCE IT.
Avatar n tn you probably passed the one on the right without knowing and new one formed on the left. Also a kidney infection will have the same symptoms as a stone, the only reason you have pain is because of blocked urine flow and swelling of the kidney which happens in infection and stones. If you haven't already you should really be seen by a doctor and have a CT scan done to tell which it is.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I went into the ER, l was having horrible pain on my right side right under my rib. They did a cat scan and xray and told me that I have tw kidney stones one in each kidney. I still have no pain on my right side and am wondering if I ever will or if it will just disappear? Secondly the pain on my left side got worse over night, it has moved down a little and wrapped around to my back. The pain is bearable and then out of nowhere unbearable and worse in my back.

540521 tn?1221703306 I have not yet passed the stones and i am still getting pain and the stones will not pass. The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get? I don't know what else to do , I am at a loss, any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You..
Avatar f tn as long as you have a normal kidney on the other side. Certainly the pain your having could be from ureteral stones, and ureteroscopy is preferred in lower ureteral stones in child-bearing age women because lithotripsy may bruise the ovaries if used for lower ureteral stones. Infection is unlikely as infection and an obstructing stone usually leads to a high fever and is an emergency.
Avatar f tn If a stone that is blocking urine flow is left untreated it can cause damage to the kidney or ureter. If the stone is relatively small (5 mm or less) pain medications and increased oral fluid intake may allow the stone to pass on its own. However, if the stone is large, or continues to cause problems or appears infected, a referral to a urologist who may elect to perform a procedure during which a small tube is placed in your ureter via a scope.
Avatar f tn I've asked a couple specialists about it and they haven't been able to give me the WHY, though I do know there have been studies about abnormal plasma renin and aldosterone activity in dysautonomia, both of which relate to kidneys, so I surmise that may be somehow related. (??????) Sorry you're having kidney stones! I've missed you and I'm glad to see you around!! I hope you're feeling better now! :-) Heather.
Avatar n tn I have done this for 11 months and had no UTI's and no kidney stones since then. I was always getting 'burning and smelly urine and no infection. Now I get none of that and if I miss 2 night of taking them, the smelly urine is back and the slight burning. My Doctor says that Cranberry is not toxic either and that we urinate what we dont need like most other vitamins. Allow 3-4 days before seeing some effect. Worth a try....
Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn Hi, Kidney stones often do not cause any symptoms. Usually, there is extreme pain, which begins suddenly when a stone moves in the urinary tract and blocks the flow of urine. If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain continues as the muscles in the wall of the narrow ureter try to squeeze the stone into the bladder. As the stone moves and the body tries to push it out, blood may appear in the urine, making the urine reddish.
Avatar n tn I have had numerous kidney infections and stones over the past few years. I had a stent recently put in because of a narrowing at the UPJ. I am having alot of pain from the stent. My Uro. said before he put the stent in that I would be able to resume a normal life while the stent is in place. I have frequency, I have to go about 30 times in a 24 hr. period and I am taking ditropan xl 5mg. I am also on pryidium plus 2x's a day.
Avatar f tn I was tested for an infection many times during the time I had the stones, and even again, at a follow up appointment after the stones were gone, and the tests all said no infection. Now, my doctor is treating me for one, since the WBCs are still showing, which doesn't make sense to me (she also sent my pee away for further testing AGAIN, but I won't get those results until later this week).
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.0mm usually move out on their own with a high % of non-complications, etc.
Avatar f tn I live with kidney stones and have been for years. Does anyone know what is good to eat to help prevent stones? All I can find online are foods that I can't eat.
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with kidney stones almost 3 years ago but I did not get them removed as my Dr told me they could not kill me or cause any life threatening diseases, but recentley I have noticed a little bit of stomach discomfort, I would like to say pain but it doesnt hurt , it kind of feels like something is there like gas, and my stomach gurgles a little bit and once in a while I will feel a little bit of a slight pinching pain in different spots over my belly , it feels like its through the b
