Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones and reflux

Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
Avatar f tn I know if I go back to eating lots of produce and greens that and the reflux will stop. I also take milk thistle which helps with nausea and the gall pain. Good luck!
196896 tn?1189759421 I happened to find information on the about the correlation of kidney stones, high calcium levels, and Hyperparathyrodism. Check it out! Hyperparathyroidism is also known as "moans, groans, stones, and bones." The symptoms: Loss of energy. Don't feel like doing much. Tired all the time. Just don't feel well; don't quite feel normal. Hard to explain but just feel kind of bad. Feel old. Don't have the interest in things that you used to.
Avatar n tn tiny stones) in my kidneys and have been drinking lots of water and using kidney cleanse supplements. They are helping. I drank lots of caffeine and little water for many years... How are you doing? --J.
Avatar f tn I am having my kidney stones removed on Friday by lithotripsy. They are extremely painful, cause scarring and reflux and will continue to damage the kidney until removed. You are NOT a freak, nor were you born one. This problem happens to many, many people and please make sure you're persistent with your own care. As far as things helping, I try to avoid meat and spinach which makes it worse and also drink alot of cranberry juice and water. I really hope this helps !!!!
Avatar n tn She started to have kidney infections at the age of about 4 then they sent me to a specialist and she had reflux number 5 and they could only find one kidney and they gave her the surgery and she has been infection free so far but she has crystals in her urine also but no blood yet and she is 11 years old now.Your daughter doesnt have hearing problems does she?
Avatar n tn I wonder if acid reflux has anything to do with it. Then again I didn't have acid reflux when I was in high school (the first time I discovered one of these nasty stink balls). It seems to be a mystery, even to doctors that I have asked (most haven't a clue what I'm even talking about).
Avatar n tn Any decrease in fluid intake can predispose you to infections and development of kidney stones. If you have had any family history of renal stones, and if your life style has seen any recent stressful changes, it is possible that you could have developed new kidney stones that are predisposing you to UTIs. Have you had any imaging done to rule out kidney stones since this infection started?
Avatar f tn I'm a woman in my early twenties with GERD, ovarian cysts, annual kidney stones, lactose intolerance, and pellet stools. I began having lactose intolerance when I was a kid. I have had pellet stool since I can remember. Everything else appeared when I wasin my senior year of college. I've been on Nexium for 2 years. I do not take it everyday bc I know it's bad for you. I feel fine if I just take them 2 times a week. Tums and Prilosec does not work.
Avatar f tn I would like to stop the medications because of long term health concerns.... I do have 5 kidney stones,I discovered it 2 years ago and still they are still there .What am I suppose to do..thank goodness I don't have pain because they are not moving ,,,I gues they are happy...
Avatar n tn I too suffer from pvcs and heart burn/indigestion. My GP, cardiologist and EP all believe that reflux is a trigger. I have tried many acid meds and the one that works best for me is Omeperozole.
Avatar n tn but not because of acid reflux but because of kidney stones ... can you believe that!~ and when one is moving about in the kidney and not completely stationery not only do I get pain in the kidney (bursts of stinging sharp pain) the fruit juices and coffee will do a number on the pain. All is ok with your kidneys right? Just an off the wall thought bcz I can relate to the fruit juice.
Avatar n tn Still sounds like something with the kidneys. Are you on any medications? Some medications can cause kidney pain, even after you have been on them for a while and have been fine. Some acid reflux meds can do that. Best to be checked out by a Dr. Also examine your lifestyle. You may be abusing yourself with something, food, drugs, alcohol, etc. Everyone has a different tolerance.
Avatar f tn kidney pain..well i had no ins and was on a gov. health program and was able to see their doctors and come to find out i have stones in my kidneys that can never be passed nor labs were done and my calcium was high..sodium high..b12 low..they checked my thyroid and came back every yr they had me do a 24hr urine collection and labs and every result came back the same as above noted...
Avatar f tn Then 3 weeks later high fever comes back and then the Kidney infection will show. Right now we are on day 8 of antibotics and still running a low grade fever. I carried her back to the Dr urine test was negative white blood count was 15,000 . Is there some other test that cam be done to find out what is wrong. We oallow the same pattern every time. The highest her fever has gotten was 106. No other symptons just fever and lower pain. But a kidney scan showed no stones or blockages.
Avatar n tn Could this be why for the past 13 years i have had repeat infections and stones??? and a constant ache in that here!! and angry actually as i have really suffered and no one as ever told me!!
Avatar f tn I didn't have any problems for awhile, when I was around 15 I occasionally got some pain. I'm 95% sure I get kidney stones and it always seems to be on the right side. Or maybe it's something else with the exact symptoms of stones. I get that kind of pain about once a year. On a daily basis though, I have discomfort now. I just turned 21. It's been gradual and I only started to really think about it recently.
Avatar n tn the corresponding figure in children is unknown. Among patients with kidney stones, hypercalciuria may occur in 40-50%, and recurrent gross hematuria may occur in 10-20%. Although no evidence indicates that risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) is higher in patients with medullary sponge kidney, up to 5% of males and 35% of females have a UTI.
Avatar f tn We were shuttled around several doctors and treated for different disorders such as kidney stones, hernias, bladder and kidney bacterial infections and peptic ulcers to no avail. Some thought we were crazy. Ultimately, a worm ova (for Schistosoma) was found in both our urine sediments and we were treated with praziquantel. There are other medications specific for different parasites.
Avatar n tn Calcification in the kidney may be due to cyst(s) or stones. First, try to ask the doctor, what he thinks it is. The only thing I can say at the moment - try to drink enough, so urine will be diluted and stones won't be able to create. Blood test and urine test would also be needed for diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Pylori virus via urea breath test which was negative. My CT scan was normal except for a few small kidney stones and my ultrasound again revealed the same 3-4mm size gallbladder polyps. My doctor said I should have my gallbladder removed and referred me to a general surgeon. Since my polyps has not increased in size in 7 months I am worried weather removing my gallbladder is the right move since there no gallstones. Should I wait and further test for GERD or gastritis?
1444053 tn?1365460415 Hi have you tried a very low residue diet? Which does not consist of many fruits and desserts because those result in acid reflux, Also you should take tums(it's a myth that if you take too many you'll get kidney stones), sleep propped up instead of down to prevent back-flow, have you tried stress relievers prescribed by your doc?
5285867 tn?1365996892 Hi there! The decision of taking or not taking the thyroid pills is best decided by your treating endocrinologist after an evaluation. Bile does not have anything to do with gastritis. Limiting fat intake can limit bile secretion; though with GB removed fat is best limited to prevent malsorption despite having no effect on bile secretion. For gastritis/ lowering acid production, it is advised to take the medications as suggested by your treating doctor.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if I could possibly have ureteral reflux. I have a history of kidney stones, but I don't have any stones now. I have pain that is in the RLQ and sometimes sharp pain on the right side of my bladder. I know it's usually diagnosed in childhood, but can an adult develop it? Thanks.

Avatar m tn So I stopped for a month and started taking it only when I felt acid reflux. Cleared up the leakage, diarrhea and fatigue. But recently I got kidney stones. This all started in my 20's taken Nexium and in my early 30s with kidney stones. Read a lot of info online stating that Nexium can cause kidney stones. Believe it's true because I drink 1 soda once a week, but drink water all the time. Anyone else experience kidney stones while on Nexium?
5285867 tn?1365996892 It says that acupuncture can help with Gastritis, insomnia, reflux and a lot of our symptoms and more. They give tea to you that will help with symptoms. In Colorado they have a chinese acupuncture school that charges $20.00 for visit. I have not tried Ginger or Tumeric because my stomach is really sensitive. Prop your pillows at night and don't eat anything 3 hours before bed. My stomach is very sensitive. I eat a bite here and a bite there. No big meals.
