Now he is loosing 11 gms of proteins when he undergone protein loss check up. His legs, stomach and face is completely swelling.
Avatar n tn I've wondered that myself. I have kidney stones and gall stones, but I haven't read any studies showing heppers have a higher likelihood of either.
1025106 tn?1251861070 in easy words ur microvessels of kidney are sclerozed enough to cause proteinuria and complicated by stones. best way to manage is to take BENAZAPRIL which controls high blood pressure in turn saving ur kidneys. If with benazapril BP is not controled u can ask for some ACE INH or DIURETICS from ur GP.and then change ur diet and lifestyle u will be amazed how much difference that can make. hope u have a better life ahead.
Avatar f tn I have had kidney stones before and I wonder if they may have caused permanent damage to the kidneys and therefore are causing the protein. And for turberculosis I dont have any other symptoms that would point to tb. Not that I am aware of anyways. Right now the only symptom is chronic trace amounts of protein in my urine. On the dipstick I think its usually between a plus one and plus two. My doc does not want to investigate until I am no longer pregnant.
Avatar n tn I have frequent UTIs that I take long-term antibiotics to prevent, but I still get UTIs sometimes, which have gone on to pyelonephritis several times, always affecting my left kidney. I experience a strong pain and a sensation that something is turning inside out or twisting sometimes when I urinate- I can tell if a particular urination is going to result in this pain because there is a delay before the flow starts.
Avatar m tn I had all the above plus blood in my urine as you did and it turned out I had a 1cm kidney stone lodged in my urethra and my kidney was under distress. I had to be operated on right away.
Avatar n tn Hello, Cloudy urine can be due to diet and certain foods, pus or proteins in urine, bladder infection, cystitis, urinary tract infection, kidney stones,Proteinuria and kidney conditions. I would suggest a urologist’s evaluation and getting a complete examination along with urine and kidney tests to confirm the diagnosis. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn The exact numbers depend on a variety of factors such as medical history, symptoms present and how the kidney functions- the creatinine and GFR levels. Proteinuria in excess of 3.5 g per day warrants further evaluation by a kidney specialist to rule out nephrotic syndrome. Additional diagnostic tests such as glomerular filtration rate, renal ultrasound, and possible intravenous urography and serological screening for autoantibodies and complement level. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago we took our son to a new doctor and she said he needed to see a kidney doctor. We took him to see kidney doc on 02/16/2011 and was told our son has stage 2 kidney disease. We are still trying to process it all.The doctor scheduled an ultrasound for 03/31/2011 and said that my son will need a biopsy soon after the ultrasound. My husband and I are completely devastated because we thought the protein was a result of having high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I make kidney-stones big and fast, and I require surgery about once a month on average to have them removed as they're too big to pass naturally. Sorry for the bad news Sister. There's a 50/50 chance your children will come out with what you have. Now, the decision is yours... do you want to take the chance? I didn't want to...
Avatar m tn Hi there, I have always had bubbles in my urine, at least for the last 8 years. Recently I went to the doctor for a urinalysis because I read about the correlation between kidney disease and proteinuria. I'm unsure as to whether my bubbles are caused by protein. My test results indicated that no proteins were present in my urine specimen. My creatinine serum is 1.0. My GFR is 97.6 ml/min/1.73 msg. I'm wondering- will my GFR hold steady in the 90's?
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? The presence of protein in urine (proteinuria) is due to failure of kidney to filter the body fluids. This can occur due to infections to the kidney, hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, nephrotic syndrome etc. Although a single measure of protein in a urine sample has less significance. I would suggest that you get a 24 hour urine collection and estimation of protein in that. This is a reliable method to assess the condition.
Avatar n tn An abdominal CT scan including the kidney, ureter and bladder will be able to help.Aside from infections, kidney stones and previous repeated instrumentations, structural abnormalities in the urinary tract may cause hematuria. A close follow up consult with your physician is necessary. A referral to an internist for further blood tests may be done to check kidney function ( BUN and creatinine levels). Continue to take plenty of water and exercise daily to improve circulation.
Avatar f tn Approximately two years ago I was diagnosed with spilled protein in urine and blood in urine. In the course of diagnostic tests for the kidney disfunction a CT Scan was performed and liver lesions were found. A slew of tests were performed. It was determined the lesions were thankfully benign. The spilled protein has persisted to the point that a 24 hour tests indicates 3850 in spilled protein. All other kidney and liver function tests remain normal.
440941 tn?1243648084 It can be due to medical conditions of the kidneys like tubular necrosis, cystitis, glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis ,kidney stones or tumors. It can also indicate chronic kidney disease. I would suggest a nephrologist’s consultation and further investigations to confirm the cause. I hope that helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The commonest cause for proteinuria is an urinary tract infection. Have a culture and sensitivity test done to find out the correct antibiotic that the infecting organism is sensitive to and taking this medication for the required amount of days may help to clear urinary tract infection. It could also be due to diabetes. The cyst may need further evaluation. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor.
Avatar m tn Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. The most common causes of repeated UTIs are kidney stones and diabetes mellitus. Get a urine culture, serum creatinine and an ultrasound kidneys to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn We were called into the office and advised that my son has proteinuria and that he has to get further tests in both his urine and blood and then most likely see a kidney specialist and possibly have a renal biopsy done. Of course, I'm very concerned over this. My son appears to be in excellent health, is very atheletic and his intial bloodwork was fine. No blood was found in his urine.
Avatar f tn I was being seen in the pregnancy by urologist for the protein and blood. Had an u/s then and they saw the right kidney was enlarged and both kidneys had something in them, possibly stones. Being pregnant he said we will just watch and address after baby. Well, my labor was intense cause I developed pre-e and my liver enzymes went up and my plates were low.
1527017 tn?1291671470 Urine protein testing is used to help evaluate and monitor kidney function, and to help detect and diagnose early kidney damage and disease. If the level is high, the doctor may order a secondary test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Greater than 1200 appears high. However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones?
Avatar n tn urine often indicates proteinuria, there can be other causes. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and retrograde ejaculation are 2 that come to mind. With your recent urinary symptoms and back pain, a UTI is most likely. In men, the most common source of the infection is the prostate gland (prostatitis).” Refer: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/foamy-urine/AN01702 http://en.allexperts.com/q/Urology-Male-issues-989/foamy-urine.htm It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar m tn = 60ml/min/1.73m2 does not always exclude kidney disease, especially if proteinuria, abnormal urine sediment or hypertension are present. ( eGFR is less reliable in patients with extreme of body weight, muscle disease or server liver disease). C reactive protein: 1.6 mg/L (0-5) CRP may be used either as a marker of inflammation in unwell patients or as a CVD risk marker in currently healthy patients as follows: 3 Increase (x1.5-2 ) risk CK: 163 IU/L ( 60-220) Troponin T <0.
4503521 tn?1400858886   Your midwife will add your proteinuria levels to your maternity notes. The lowest is marked as a trace level, and anything higher is marked as one or more pluses. Ask your midwife to explain the result if you're not sure what it means for you. Depending on the proteinuria levels, your midwife may bring forward your next antenatal appointment. She'll check again to see if there's still protein present, and whether the amount has increased.
