Avatar m tn Sounds like kidney or urinary tract infection. Call doc, see if you bring in a urine sample. If it is an infection, only antibiotics will help, nothing over the counter unfortunately - but believe me I love my heating pad. I even bring it with in the car with a power converter. I've had several kidney issues, and now am recovering from surgery for nutcracker syndrome and pelvic congestion syndrome (found both in men and women). Good Luck.
Avatar n tn Let me begin by saying that I have a kidney condition known as FSGS. My kidney function has basically normal (stage 1-kidney disease). I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing.

554628 tn?1362777919 Hi, nausea, headache and kidney pain can be related with nephropathy (kidney disorder), urine test and blood urea and creatinine are usually done for diagnosis. Kidney stones do cause similar kind of symptoms; ultrasound is quite diagnostic for stones.
Avatar m tn I recently got my urine test done with the military and they sent me a letter asking for a family doctor to re-interpret the results and/or do a new urine test. On the info sheet, 3 lines were highlighted and the results were given beside then: Protein - 1+ Ketones - TRACE Bilirubin - 2+ I'm stressing a bit because I did some research online and the articles said that it might be a kidney problem. With me trying to get into the Air Force I need to be physically and mentally healthy.
Avatar n tn The most common cause of red blood cells in the urine is a bladder infection. Other caused such as kidney stones, menstruation contamination of the sample, kidney disease, and bladder of kidney cancer. A microscopic urine analysis is usually done to confirm the presents of red blood cells and urine culture is often done to rule out infection. If red cells are present in significant numbers, a CT scan of the kidneys and bladder are done.
Avatar f tn It take two days for the antibiotics to work so she should be feeling better. As long as she is drinking plenty of water it should have started clearing up by now. It is very important to flush the kidneys out very well if you have an infection. Not drinking enough even while on antibiotics will not help flush her kidneys out. Her pain may also be from straining to urinate or frequent urination.
Avatar n tn I think this is an infection that has developed over the last decade. It started from an infection of my penis, the symptoms of which included: burning when urinating, pain after urinating, and the veins became more visible. The first two symptoms have gone, but now urine isn't fully expelled from by body and i need to force it out by massaging the skin behind my scrotum. I have gone to the doctors several times. The first time i got antibiotics and the UTI i had disappeared.

Avatar f tn s a kidney problem since my albumin is low, however I think I may have some kind of infection considering my liver enzymes are high, my absolute eosinophils are at 1163....15.3%, and in my urine test my leukocyte esterase is 2+, WBC are 10-20, and there are a few bacteria. What are your thoughts?
Avatar f tn Ive already been in the hospital once before because i had blood in my urine and my kidney was hurting me. Question is should i just wait it out and see if it goes away or should i go back to the er? I have this pain frequently and some days its hurts more then others.
Avatar f tn A kidney infection is just the result of an untreated bladder infection. I had a kidney infection two years ago and it was awful. The medication you get should knock it out if it is an infection, or stronger ones if it doesn't work.
Avatar m tn kidney damage, infection, or failure, displacement of the stoma and infections to the urinary tract, fever, hernia, urinary problems, chills or blood or pus in the urine. Aside from the increased fluid intake and emptying the bag often, Vitamin C supplements can prevent infection- and odor-causing bacteria from accumulating in the urine. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It could be a urinary tract infection. This needs to be treated before it turns into a kidney or bladder infection. You can drink more (lots more), use something like Ural which neutralises the urine to stop it burning, drink cranberry juice or cranberry tablets. But if you are getting no relief within a short time of doing these things you probably need to go and see a doctor.
Avatar m tn Nothing in your urine suggests that you have an infection. You can get infection ruled out (or confirmed) with a blood-test. Call your doctor and see if they'll perform a blood text and check for infection. I would, however, suggest that you talk to a Urologist about the elevated Calcium Oxalate levels in your urine.
Avatar f tn Interestingly urine odor changes in menopause too. Urinary bladder infection and kidney infections do produce strong smelling urine. Another reason is dehydration. Strong ammonia smell is due to protein breakdown. A routine urine examination along with a urine culture will be able to detect the problem. Drink plenty of fluids and water and see if that helps. Also if you are on crash diets etc then protein breakdown can cause an ammonia smell. Also diet rich in protein can be the cause.
9062499 tn?1426957962 I'm 19+4 weeks. I have never had urine infection in my previous pregnancies. I have had it for the past 2 months and now for the past couple of days I'm really itchy down there. Just wanted to know is it itchy due to the urine infection? I have been prescribed antibiotics by the midwife to clear it up. Need to start them today.

Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is possible to still have a kidney infection after rounds of antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin? Every time I go to the ER they tell me that my urine is free of bacteria but contains white blood cells. I have extreme flank pain and abdominal pain.
Avatar n tn Check for a possible urinary tract infection. Do a urine culture and if the fever persists, perhaps you should do a blood test as well. My mom had a UTI and the only symptom she had was high fever... she had a blood test and the results showed an increased number of white blood cells that indicated an infection... she also had a urine analysis and a urine culture and it confirmed that it was a UTI.
