Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, yes, kidney infection can be related to the pyelonephritis. Urinary tract infection can be due to infection involving any part from kidney to urethra. Infection may be pyelonephritis (involving upper urinary tract), urethritis, uretitis, cystitis (lower urinary tract) etc. Presence of Anatomic abnormalities resulting in obstruction, stasis, or reflux of urinary flow all predisposes towards recurrent urinary infections.
Avatar f tn Even if you think you have a urinary tract infection or kidney infection the best thing to do is call your doctor all they need is a urine sample when tou get there
Avatar m tn kidney damage, infection, or failure, displacement of the stoma and infections to the urinary tract, fever, hernia, urinary problems, chills or blood or pus in the urine. Aside from the increased fluid intake and emptying the bag often, Vitamin C supplements can prevent infection- and odor-causing bacteria from accumulating in the urine. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn The infection can move up to your kidneys quite quickly. Urinary tract infection is not serious in females, but in males it is.
Avatar f tn I have a question for those of you with urinary tract problems. I have had several UTIs and seem to be retaining urine. Also, my bladder and kidneys hurt. As many of you know, I do have Lupus. The question I have is should I be going to a urologist? I have talked to my GP about this and I have even mentioned being tested for Lupus Nephritis, but he just tells me that anytime he has checked my kidneys they have been fine.
Avatar m tn What are the symptoms of an urinary tract infection? Does creatine make you urinate a lot?
Avatar f tn My daughter (21years old) was treated for a severe urinary tract infection and he said the infection may be in her kidneys. The symptoms of the UTI are gone, but she continues to have significant pain in her back on the left side. She has been taking the antibiotic since Wednesday night. Is it normal for her to still have the pain?
Avatar m tn Sounds like kidney or urinary tract infection. Call doc, see if you bring in a urine sample. If it is an infection, only antibiotics will help, nothing over the counter unfortunately - but believe me I love my heating pad. I even bring it with in the car with a power converter. I've had several kidney issues, and now am recovering from surgery for nutcracker syndrome and pelvic congestion syndrome (found both in men and women). Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Hi there, In urinary tract infection backache is very common. Bladder infection, pyelonephritis are other causes of lower back ache. You may take a muscle relaxant for pain relief. An ultrasound scan may be helpful in detecting if there is any kidney stone or anatomic /structural problem with the kidneys. Other causes of backache are injury or overuse of muscles, ligaments, and joints. It is suggested to get evaluated by your attending doctor.
18533109 tn?1465640552 UTI may be cause of Bladder cancer but not manually kidney stones . A history of urinary tract infection significantly elevated the risk of bladder cancer, particularly in individuals who reported three or more infections .
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be due to urinary tract infection or prostatitis. Symptoms of UTI are frequent urination, burning sensation during urination, passing of blood in urine and even fever. The most common causes of repeated UTIs are kidney stones and diabetes mellitus. Making a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection includes performing a urinalysis test, which checks for the presence of pus, white blood cells, and bacteria in the urine, which point to a urinary tract infection.
Avatar n tn A urinalysis, urine culture, kidney, ureter and bladder scans may help rule out an infection or urinary tract stones. Kidney stones leading to kidney infections may lead to fever, nausea and vomiting. I suggest you seek immediate consult since you may need oral medications. Do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My doc/midwife just diagnosed me with a urinary tract infection :( and now I'm a little worried about pre-term labor, i guess my question would be has anyone been diagnosed with same thing, if so what was your experience?
Avatar m tn Hi, it is immaterial which came first or last as kidney stones gets formed not because of infection or any obstruction in urinary tract induced by enlarged prostrate. Similarly, urinary tract infection occurs without stone formation too. Hence important is to treat accompanied infection and enlarged prostrate.
Avatar m tn Sounds like a urinary tract infection. Might need to see a physician to get an antibiotic to treat it. Blood is not normal either. Kidney stones might cause similar symptoms too. Keep well hydrated and add the old standard cranverry juice too! Good luck and don't delay too long in seeing a physician. Emergency clinics might be an answer if you don't have a regular family doc.
Avatar f tn Urinalysis and urine culture are definitive diagnosis of a urinary tract infection. This may respond well to antibiotic management. The choice of drug and length of treatment depend on your medical history and the urine tests that identify the offending bacteria. Many doctors prescribe antibiotics for a week or two to ensure that the infection has been cured. Other tests such as intravenous pyelogram may also be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was checked into the hospital for a kidney infection and that was when I found out I was even pregnant in the first place! Weird thing is , it all starts with a urinary tract infection. I didn't even know that you could have one of those without feeling the burning sensation when you pee, because I definitely did not feel it. But if you're peeing constantly and barely anything is coming out then I would seriouly suggest seeing your doctor. I'm lucky I went in when I did.
Avatar n tn Painful urination is most often caused by an infection or inflammation somewhere in the urinary tract. This could be a bladder infection. A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is an infection that can happen anywhere along the urinary tract. Urinary tract infections have different names, depending on what part of the urinary tract is infected.
Avatar f tn UTI's are common in pregnancy because of all the pressure that goes on down there. They could lead to a bladder or kidney infection if untreated for too long. Symptoms are burning while urinating & never feeling like you've completely emptied your bladder. If you're having kidney pain, it could be the infection or a stone. I had one in my 12th wk & it felt like someone had it in a vice, twisting it in opposite directions.
Avatar f tn Im 90% sure that I have a urinary tract infection but I have additional symptoms that I dont usually have. My partner and I had sex several nights ago and I developed the usual symptoms: painful urination general discomfort frequent urination urine is cloudy and pink What is unusual is that I have clumps of something when I pee. They are pinkish is this a possible symptom that will pass just like the others?
Avatar f tn Do you have an abscess in kidney detected by CT scan or ultrasound or is it that you have a urinary tract infection and want to know the treatment. Kidney stones too can cause infection of urine. Kidney abscess is a serious problem. Any infection of the urinary system is treated with antibiotics, pain medications and fluids. However it is not something that can be treated at home. There are various tests like urine examination, ultrasound or CT scan that need to be done to diagnose.
Avatar f tn Symptoms Vesicoureteral reflux may present before birth as prenatal hydronephrosis, an abnormal widening of the ureter or with a urinary tract infection or acute pyelonephritis.
