168348 tn?1379357075 Do you have any information or recommendation how to help those with kidney stones who get recurring UTI's from what our Urologists have told us is because of likely biofilm infection deep inside kidney stones which are produced by those who have MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) on an ongoing basis? The stones are a by-product of MSK and are deep within the medullary and take a long time (if ever) to pass out.

Avatar m tn Hello, had CT scan for abdominal pain and my GP found that a very small stone in my left kidney which is unrelated to my stomach infection. I am scared more on kidney stone and its recurring chances in future. I am ready to change my diet and habit. Should I be worried much about this kidney stone? If i take lot of fluids in future, what are the chances of kidney stone coming back in future?
192055 tn?1263555537 When should I see a doc? For the last 6-7 months, I have been dealing with 'kidney stones'. I say 'kidney stones' since the docs are unsure what is wrong with me. Last 6-7 months, I have had a varying amount of blood in my urine (varies from a little to a lot when I visited the doc 4-5 times)... but normal CT scans. I am going through further testing soon...
Avatar m tn Hi, I understand your concern regarding this and kidney stones. Recurring kidney stones is indeed possible especially with your history. Risk factors such as not drinking enough fluids, family history, gender, presence of co-morbid conditions, consuming a high-protein, high-sugar, high-sodium, low-fiber diet diet and even certain types of medications may be contributory. Cutting out calcium from your diet is usually not recommended, unless your intestine absorbs too much dietary calcium.
Avatar f tn Hi, I seem to have recurring bouts with kidney/bladder infections every couple of years that take 10-12 weeks to clear up. I was also diagnosed with a double ureter on the left side. Could the double ureter complicate these infectons or make them last longer than normal? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn I have had numerous UTIs an Kidney infections I have almost lost my R kidney about 5 times. I end up with pylinifritis around my kidneys. Avatar m tn With fever and anemia, kidney should be reassessed for infection. Kidney infection cause anemia. A urine examination should be done and if RBC are detected in them, then complete kidney function panel should be done. Leukemias, liver infections, parasitic infects of gut like amebiasis and giardiasis and SLE can all cause anemia and fever. Do discuss this with your doctor and get your father examined in this line. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Elevated white blood cells may be caused by infection and may be associated with the slight reduction of kidney function. Mildly reduced kidney function may require observation, as well as control of blood pressure and risk factors. If the symptoms persist, it is best that you check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn One of his kidney enzymes is elevated, and this may indicate early kidney disease or kidney infection--a urinalysis and urine culture are needed to investigate this, since a chronic kidney infection could cause weight loss. His low Na/K ratio can be an indication of Addison's disease, which is when the adrenal glands do not make enough cortisone, and this can be evaluated with an ACTH stimulation blood test to test the adrenal function.
Avatar f tn For the past several years I have had recurring bladder and kidney problems, including consistent UTI's. This past summer I had extreme abdominal pain and was treated for kidney stones and/or ovarian cysts, but now for the past several months I have been experiencing extreme foul-smelling urine. Each time, my doctor(s) have given me a urinalysis which sometimes comes back positive for bacteria and sometimes negative.
Avatar f tn One of the things that can go along w/ hydronephrosis is UTI. This is because the urine stays in the kidney too long and causes infection to build up. I would think they could esil etect this with a urinalysis. In all hnesty, tey just don't get too excited about mil hydronephrosis. But th least they can do is monitor it from time to time and treat any UTIs that come long.
1403754 tn?1327998912 December of 2010, I had a UTI that turned into a kidney infection. After multiple courses of antibiotics I was finally free of infection, but I still deal with chronic kidney pain. I was sent to a urologist to see if he could find a source for the blood and protein in my urine. He could find anything wrong. Because the high pain levels made me nauseated, they had me on anti-nausea meds. I finally jumped through all the hoops to get Medicaid and was referred to a nephrologist.
Avatar n tn thank you for the response. had urinalysis and the doctor said there is an infection UTI, also did sonogram of the kidney this the result: abdominal & retroperitoneal ultrasound: real time examination of the abdomen demonstrates normal size & echogenicity of the live without fatty infiltration or dilaration of intrahepatic ducts. the sagittal diameter of the right lobe of the liver is 10.2cm without focal parenchymal abnormalities.
Avatar f tn I am being treated for the infection. At the same time as the appendicitis I went to the emergency room for kidney stones. I had lithotripsy done for that 1 week ago to remove the stone. Over the past year I have experienced the following symptoms... I have been to many different docs and the emergency room and don't know what to do. All of these symptoms may not be relevant, but I thought more information the better.
Avatar f tn s disease to leukemia, strep, hepatitis, mono, cat scan, ultrasound, bladder, kidney infection, chest x rays. At times her white blood cell count is high and sediment in her urine but further tests do not provide diagnosis of bladder or kidney infection. We are at our wits end. She is miserable and in so much pain so often, we just do not know where to turn any more. Has anyone dealt with an illness with similar symptoms? Any advice?
Avatar m tn but i got recurring urinary tract infection twice out of the blow and they suggest a mri to see if i have kidney stones but i have gone yet.i just wonder if kidney infections can be the cause of my headaches and lymph nodes.been two weeks since my last lymph node..
Avatar n tn I have had this for a long time and wonder if I could have possibly been born with a minor abnormality causing it or the chronic anxiety not letting the muscles relax enough to empty my bladder. I am constantly told I have a bladder infection by doctors and think this might be the reason. I do experience a tiny burn at the end of the stream but no other bladder infection symptoms.
Avatar f tn HI MY NAME IS TEBOGO, A MONTH AGO I STARTED EXPERIENCING PAINS ON MY LOWER BACK AT THE LEVEL OF MY KIDNEYS AND HAD A URINARY TRACT INFECTION TREATED BUT NOW THE PAINS ARE BACK AND MY URINE HAS BLOOD AND A BURNING SENSATION I WENT TO SEE MY GP AND HE DID AN X-RAY AND TOLD ME MY KIDNEY IS SWOLLEN.I ALSO HAVE RECURRING ABDOMINAL PAINS AND CAN'T HOLD URINE FOR LONG.DO I HAVE A KIDNEY DISEASE AND AM I AT A RISK OF HAVING RENAL FAILURE?
Avatar f tn I think you should definately see a doctor to be sure you dont have a kidney infection. that can be very serious. The other thing you might have going on is ovarian cysts. They are quite painful, but not dangerous. they detect that is by an ultrasound. there is really nothing they can do for them but provide you with pain meds or low dose birth control pills can help the amount of cysts you develope.
Avatar f tn Has anyone one had recurring kidney infections after finishing treatment. I will get my 1 year after treatment in June 2013 in the past 6 months I have had this like 4 times.
