Common Questions and Answers about Keppra generic name

keppra

Avatar n tn He was put on keppra and had about 3 seizures the first year and then I fought for name brand instead of generic. When he started name brand he was seizure free for 15 months. I was so thankful then out of nowhere he had 2 grand mals in less than a week. His dr.increased his keppra to the max of 3000 mg. A day. He also gave me the choice of adding depakote we but said the increase in the keppra would take about 2 wks. To reach max .
564491 tn?1320360393 I was prescribed Keppra for my chronic headaches. I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and depression, secondarily. While taking Keppra, my mood was very erratic, irritable, depressed (very), and a lot of other unpleasant psychological side effects. I'm wondering how often this happens with Keppra. I have since stopped taking it. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have no health insurance. I was finally got a really basic coverage, but it doesn't cover keppra. i've been taking keppra for a 2 months. I was switched to phenobarbitol for when I run out. since keppra is not on the charity's formulary. I hope to God that I cant find some source of keppra before I run out. The phenobarb is scary. So I'm excited about the links here: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/index.php http://www.needymeds.
7486852 tn?1410352184 I am sorry but I can not give you any insight into keppra or depakote, both of them did not work for me. I believe that I maxed out on keppra. Dilantin worked for about 8 or 9 years before it started to not control mine anymore. I am afraid the only way to see if depakote or any other drug is is just give it a shot. There is no other way to know if it will work for you or not.
593589 tn?1219100761 My daughter is still on Keppra - she lost her benefits for a short while and is set to lose them again. We found Costco has a great deal on generic Keppra - and we were assured by her neurologist that the generic works just as well as the real deal however her headaches increased. Back with Kaiser and Keppra - until end of year. No seizures for a few years now but she will remain on Keppra forever. She has lost some weight, is getting regular exercise but still has stress like the rest of us.
640548 tn?1340553355 She has had a very hard case of epilepsy she has been on all the drugs and has now been on Keppra for about 6mnths. Out of all the drugs Keppra at the top the trileptal the others all have really bad side affects for children. Keppra has been used for years and the only side affects that they show is drowsiness and moodiness. If and when you have to use the drug I would definetly recomend Keppra. It is the best anti convulsant out there. I understand the stress and heartache you feel.
Avatar m tn its been 8 months since my mothers TBI- she had a seizure yesterday-she has been off keppra for 1 1/2 months-the side effects of keppra are aweful-they ask her questions and wonder why she is out of it and doesn't know her last name-(after they gave her keppra in the hospital) what can she take that is less evasive to her health and recovery??
1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
Avatar f tn But anyway Keppra was wonderful and then she was switched to the Generic and all hell broke loose. Her Auras kept coming frequently and is still happening. She's off Keppra now and and on Banzel and Vimpat and that is not helping her at all. She needs to be put back on Keppra and not that Generic. I'm doing the best I can. We are suppose to see the Speech Therapist tommorrw. But with the long wait she started talking better. We'll see how things go tommorow.
641243 tn?1235752084 Thanks for the great research Ginger. I confess, I have no idea what foreign companies are good or not when it comes to pet meds since I've always obtained mine from our vet. Kate - will you please let us know how Wentworth does with the keppra? My nephew has fairly severe epilepsy and keppra never seemed to help so they're weaning him off it now. What it DID do was send him out into the ozone and turn him into a drooling idiot, and he still had daily multiple seizures.
1994124 tn?1422574099 Is anyone taking AEDs here? If so, whats your dosage and whats the name of ur med?
Avatar f tn I am on keppra and lamotrigine (sp?) Lamotrigine seems to help with the anger issues keppra was causing.
Avatar f tn what is a generic drug?
Avatar n tn 0 down to 0.
Avatar f tn found no cause for the seizures. He has been put on Keppra and the Generic brand ever since. Me and my husband will both admit that he does not get the medicine like he should. My husband just says that because of him not getting the med like he should that the reason he is acting the way he is. He will barely eat. When he does, he puts it in his nouth but then spits it back out after feeling how it feels and tastes. He gets a very bad temper. Constantly wants his cup. He won't drink water.
Avatar f tn Yes it's totally legal. If you want more information there's a guy on the internet who outlines the process, whether you travel abroad or order online. He actually wrote a book and started a blog on it. He also started a buyer's club but no need to go that route. His name is Greg Jefferys, google his name for more information.
479255 tn?1208116148 I work in the medical field and my neurologist put me on Keppra. I was still having seizures on 1000mg per day so he increased the dosage over the phone from 1000 to 2000 mg per day. I still have problems so I called him back..............he told me to see a shrink. I feel like the keppra is making me have mood swings that are totally crazy! I am usually very laid back and mellow and now get upset over the littlest things for no reason................
Avatar n tn I also take Keppra but have never had any problems at all. I suffered with depression for 11 years and came of the medicine fully just before I went on Keppra, and yes I have days where I do feel depressed but with any illness you do have days where you feel depressed even suicidal. So my advice is don't necessarily put it down to Keppra. Talk to the doctor who prescribed Keppra to you and see if you can be referred to a Psychiatrist to talk it through and find out if it is the tablets!
1596950 tn?1297352500 aggresion is a side effect of keppra, doctors sometime call it the "keppra rage". i didn't have the aggression, but i had the learning problems. bad memory and lack of concentration was the worst of it. it was so bad because i'm at varsity and you're basically just a number so they don't really care.
538782 tn?1213809348 I'm new to this website. Question, I'm soon to be taking my third dose of clomid. I haven't picked up my prescription yet but, i'm lost.. I don't know whether to take the generic or name brand. Ive been taken the generic(clomiphene citrate) for the past two cycles with no luck.. Dr said he would rather me be on the brand name. It is more expensive. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn My question concerns Synthroid. On Dec 04, 2006 at 12:00AM, Mark Lupo, M.D. said in answer to a question: "Levoxyl is another brand -- there is no advantage to Synthroid. Protecting the brand has advantages over generic regarding consistency of levels. the generic is levothyroxine". Huh? What on earth does that answer mean? "Protecting"? "consistency of levels?
Avatar n tn What is the generic name, chemical name, classification and contraindications for Lyvoxil?
Avatar m tn It took about 6 months to find the perfect dosage and the best pharmacy for the generic version. But I have to tell you that keppra changed all of our lives. His seizures diminished in severity and frequency until he may have a petit seizure a couple of times a year. However, he only had 3 grand mal seizures since the keppra and he is now 10 years old. Keppra is surely hard on his liver and his life span may be shortened by a year or two.
Avatar f tn ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid... I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel. I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.
