Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain causes ringing

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn I have pain in the lower right jaw around where the jaw curves close to, but below, the ear. I recently went to the dentist and xrays showed no problems, and there is no tooth pain. I do not have my tonsils and my glands are not swollen. Are there nerves that feed through this area? I can't understand why this pain is here. It seems to go away for a few days but then comes back without cause. Very tender to the touch. Do you have any idea what I can do or who I should see for this problem?
Avatar n tn I have had ringing in the ears for quite some time. I have pain in my left jaw and ear. Both ears seam "full". When I talk I can hear myself like when you have a cold. I have been diagnosed with TMJ and I am now going to a special physical therapist for TMJ. THis is starting help the jaw pain. Prior to that I had seen a doctor who gave me a mouth piece to wear to help align my jaw and help the TMJ. Another symptom I have is the loss of smell which in turn gives me a loss of taste.
Avatar f tn Could also be from your dental work. Your jaw could have been thrown slightly out of line, which causes it to click. Neck injuries can also cause odd sensations and noises. If I turn my head too far to the right, I feel like I am not getting enough oxygen to my brain, and start hearing the "swooshing" sound of my heart. I thought it was high blood pressure and went running off to the doctor the first time it happened!
Avatar f tn Although I still have tightness and pain in back of neck, more chronic problem has become constant pressure in ears (mostly right ear) and ringing in ears. Maybe I had the ringing all along and was too distracted with all other discomfort. Pressure in ears very uncomfortable. Also, occasional aching in jaw bone in front of right ear. Some clicking in right jaw bone when massaged up and down.
Avatar m tn ve been paying more attention to things that affect the ringing in some way, and discovered that when I put pressure on the left side of my head above my ear, the ringing gets louder in my left ear, and when I put pressure on the right side, the ringing gets louder in my right ear. I guess this is in the same vein as when I said it gets worse when I bite down hard. Does this mean anything? Is it possible the ringing is pressure related?
Avatar n tn A dangerous sound is anything that is 85 dB or higher. But with this you should have hearing loss. The pain could be due to other causes like infections or inflammation in the ear. Sometimes it could also be referred pain, like temporomandibular joint (jaw joint) pain. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation, who may then refer you to an ENT specialist. In the meantime you can take OTC pain medication Ibuprofen.
Avatar f tn About 2 years ago I went through a lot of jaw pain while eating, then suddenly when I lay down, my right jaw clicked out of place and ringing in the ear began. I thought it would return to position, but did not, and the ringing continued. I have arthritis, high bp and am 56 y o female. I had appointments with two jaw specialists, ( prior to having the MRI), with basically no positive outcome- advised by one to get a splint made, went to my dentist who is up to date and helpful.
Avatar f tn Pain below ear/in jaw began about 6 months ago. Tongue pain is recent, ear pain and sinus pain/congestion have increased from allergies but were present prior to allergen exposure. Lymph nodes in neck are perpetually swollen but worse in the last couple months (again, possibly allergies?). Other relevant/potentially relevant info: have reflux for which I am on Prilosec.
1446980 tn?1286838538 yes many of us have reported jaw pain as well as eye pains...ear fullness too. With the ears I also get ringing , buzzing, and even what feels like an ice pick jabbing pain..... I also asked my dentist to rule out TMJD....as many times we r told that is what the pain is from...mine was not.

Avatar f tn My haemoglobin has been low for many years(atleast) and becomes okay after a 3 months iron supplement. It will become low again. I was diagnoised with TMJ jaw problem(jaw pain, ringing in the ears) 8 monthd back. I wear a splint for it. My TSH as of now is 18.26(ref range 0.35-5.50), free T3 is 2.10(ref range 2.3-4.2) free T4 is 0.87(ref range 0.89-1.76) and haemoglobin 11.4(range 12.0-15.). My muscle pain is extreme that I cannot carry even a small bag.
Avatar n tn I have heard the jaw shares the same nerve with the ear. If the TMJ is sore/spastic that the pain can be referred to the ear. Does anyone have experience with this situation? I also have pulsatile tinnitus (ringing in the ear to the rhythm to my heart but don't believe it is related as I have damaged my ears from earplugs/ipod music.

Avatar m tn The first onset of his symptoms were two years ago and the symptoms that began were pain in his jaw and swelling in a tooth. (He has had several root canals through the years and he regularly sees a dentist twice a year) A root canal was done at that time and a few weeks after the root canal he developed "severe" pain and jaw tighness and muscle spasms and was again seen by our dentist who gave him a diagnosis but I can't remember the name and gave him some strong pain medicine.
Avatar m tn I have a constant ringing in my ears for the past few months. The volume and intensity fluctuates a great deal from jet engine loud to low level pulsing and has been getting progressively worse . On a scale from 1-10 is can fluctuate between 3 and 9.5. It is usually loudest when I wake in the morning. It pulses with my heartbeat.

Avatar n tn The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present. None of the doctors I have seen can give me a strtaight answer.
Avatar m tn Sinusitis, refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, TMJ, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache due to infection or impacted wax can cause similar symptoms. Needless to say, a persisting headache should be investigated. Please consult a headache and migraine specialist to rule out these causes one by one. Take care!
Avatar m tn and jaw clicking (w/o pain), the neck pain and the fact that moving my neck increases my ear ringing, was associated to the ear issues. I went to a TMJ specialist who is a Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is putting me on Occlusal Splints starting Friday after taking several impressions. My question is: Has anyone with tinnitus due to TMJ actually improved after TMJ treatment?

Avatar f tn I think ringing ears very possibly has something to do with anxiety as I have been experiencing it on and off for years. Mind you, my husband has it too and he doesn't have an anxiety disorder. It could very well have something to do with air pressure, also...but I think we (people with anxiety) are more inclined to have it because we are very sensitive to everything.
Avatar f tn I have been sufferring with really bad GERD lately with attacks of ringing ears, heart pulpitations, dizziness, stiff neck, headache, aching joints and tiredness.
