The exact cause of a person's TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine. Your pain may be due to a combination of factors, such as genetics, arthritis or jaw injury. Avatar n tn I started having soreness in my lymph nodes (right jaw line, right arm pit), and right back jaw pain about ten days ago, and now I can't close my jaw at all, and I'm pretty wiped out. I have been having chronic sinus infections over the past six months, and had assumed it was another infection that had moved into my ear. I saw an ENT, was tested for bacteria, Epsten Barr and HIV - all negative. She has made a referral to a TMJ specialist, which I will try to see in the next few days.
Avatar n tn The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present. None of the doctors I have seen can give me a strtaight answer.

Avatar f tn It occurs on my torso, rib cage, shoulders, back, neck, and sometimes even my jaw line and face will hurt. The pain begins about 24 hours after I start drinking and I found it only is relieved after I sweat, ALOT. The following night when I go to sleep I will sweat buckets and wake up drenched and the pain will be gone. Has anyone experienced this before or know what could be causing it?

977806 tn?1249067346 Took 2nd shot this past Wednesday. Have actually had jaw pain off and on but really thought it was a dental problem but am thinking more along the lines of Sx now because it is in both jaws. I emailed my doctor earlier today. Has anyone else had jaw pain. Both jaws have been effected and right now it is throbbing a bit. I emailed to ask my doctor if I should go and see a dentist anyway even though it may be due to the drugs.

Avatar f tn Sometimes i can barely open my mouth in morning to brush my teeth. It sometimes locks and sometimes causes ear pain. My dentist has referred me to a jaw specialist in London. Still waiting for the letter.
Avatar n tn s know if you have ever had braces before, but if so, or if you grind your teeth, there is a very good chance you might have TMJ. It causes severe jaw pain because the jaw is not aligning correctly. If it is, you generally can not open your mouth as far due to tightening or sometimes you can even feel or hear it pop.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I had an incident shortly after where I was trying to open my mouth to eat a cheese burger (tall homemade) when I got terrible pain in my jaw, like a dentist needle in my jaw. Since that incident, I have had pain everyday. I cant even eat right. The pain is worsening daily, yawning is extreamly painful. Swallowing has even been painful at times. I am now getting pain inside my throat, in my neck, my right side is the worst so my right ear goes muffled.
Avatar n tn This website has the best explanation that I have seen. http://www.aafp.org/afp/20050815/623.html Yes, your tests indicate you are hyperthyroid. Now you and your Drs. need to determine the cause. When I had a hot nodule, my biggest complaint was pain in my tooth, jaw and ear. I don't think that dental work caused the thyroid condition. I do believe that my enlarged thyroid put pressure on a nerve causing the pain. It seems a strange coincidence about the crown though.

Avatar f tn My jaw bacame sore in the beginning I thought I was having a bad toothache and had my dr call in an antibiotic but it didn't help. I guess its because our joints are loosening up and that causes the pain. Even in our jaws. Mine didn't last long maybe a week in a half.
Avatar m tn m thinking it could be TMJ - which is a disorder of the jaw joint. It can cause many symptoms, including ear or jaw pain, as well as headaches, etc. Do you ever catch yourself clenching your jaw? Does your jaw crack or catch when you try to open it wide, such as with yawning? I would suggest starting with your family doctor - just to rule out any infection in the ear, however, if it is TMJ, the best person to treat it would be yoru dentist or oral surgeon. Best of luck!
