404682 tn?1324583418 At any rate he is scratching and or licking himself frequently and I'm wondering if it could be a food allergy? I am feeding him IAMS puppy food and have been thinking about switching to something all natural. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn you could be experiencing a food allergy. These typically cause red itchy hives to spread all throughout your body for 12-24 hours. If the problems go away, then you're fine, if not, see a dermatologist at your earliest convinence. In the meantime, try using some type of lotion that can provide itching relief since it can be bothersome.
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. Pls take some antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin.Apply some calamine lotion when the rash appears or some mild steroid cream.
17019243 tn?1453087383 Doctors suggest me to find the cause of allergy but it's quite difficult. My skin become red and itchy. Mostly on bed time. It makes me sleeplessness and causes headache and other problems. Is there any solution for this problem?
Avatar n tn It sounds like the antihistamine may be drying your skin or possibly you have allergy skin. You may have a food allergy contributing to your allergies. You could try eliminating common offenders, such as milk, soy, wheat, citrus, etc.

Avatar m tn I have avoided eating prone to allergy food however, this thing just suddenly pops up on my body again. What will I do?
5555315 tn?1369799643 If it does you can then start to add back other food items one at a time to see what else you can eat. Of course if you have an allergy to one or more vegetables.. this approach would not work. Here I assume cutting out sea food and chicken helped, at least for a while. There are other limited diet approaches you may what to research. The method that seems to work (the best?
Avatar n tn Hello, What your mother seems to be having is cooking oil food allergy. Vegetable oil is usually a blend of oils. The refining process removes proteins from the oil. Since it's the proteins in oils that can cause allergic reactions, sensitive people probably won't react to refined oils. Some speciality oils, such as sesame and walnut, aren't refined and can cause allergies. I suggest you to consult an allergist for your mother and get food challenge test done to confirm the diagnosis.
16185611 tn?1445952814 Itchy skin is not necessarily due to an allergy. It is a hallmark of liver disease, among other disorders. You need a full in-person work-up by a primary care physician.

Avatar n tn Generalized itching can be due to allergy. Common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, synthetic fiber, food, cosmetics (powders, soaps, shampoos—see if anything was recently changed) or drugs. Food allergies like to gluten, lactose, sea food, and alcohol etc too should be looked into. It could also be due to new soap, talcum powder, clothes etc. You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to.

Fungal infections like tinea corporis and tinea cruris too cause whole body itching along with genital itching. Liver problems too can cause generalized itching. Hypothyroidism too can be a cause.
Avatar n tn Applying a moisturizer and using only soaps that are gentle on the skin is helpful in this case. Hypothyroidism too causes dry skin. Please get your thyroid function checked. It could also be due to overuse of AC and heaters. If you have blisters at tip of fingers and dry skin then you need to rule out certain conditions such as diabetes, psoriasis, hypothyroidism, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis and malnutrition.
Avatar n tn It could be an allergic reaction, more so if the symptoms have occurred with the consumption of the same food. Maintain a food diary and note down and monitor your symptoms. This may help to narrow down the search. The diagnosis of allergy is difficult to prove or refute. Clinical suspicion and trial of elimination diets are used. An allergy specialist might be able to help you. If the present anti histamines are not very effective you can consult your doctor for long acting ones.

Avatar f tn Why does my skin itch and feel like I am getting bitten by something. I have gone through food allergy testing (i have none), been to a dermatologist and been given advice on what to use for soap etc. But nothing has changed. I am concerned that it may be something serious. However I do not feel ill just annoyed. It is a horrible feeling. A tiny prickly feeling all over on my face, arms, neck legs. Any ideas or do I need to go in for yet more test.
Avatar f tn A month ago, I got these little red dots on my back and stomach. they're really itchy. suddenly, they've transferred into my arms and legs. after sometime they're gone, my skin became "chicken skin". and now when I feel itchy and scratched my legs, red itchy bumps will appear. They're like mosquito bites. But when I stop scratching, they will be gone after few minutes. What could these be? I have been to dermatologist, she gave me ointment and oral med, but still they're not gone.
Avatar n tn Education of the allergy patient is therefore vital, but it is not where food allergy management ends, in fact it is where it starts. Armed with knowledge the food allergic person can be constantly vigilant about what they eat, and they need to be!

Avatar n tn Is it possible to get a rash just on my face from a food allergy? I have had a horrible rash on my face for almost a year now. I use Elidel and a cortisone cream to keep it at bay. I have been tested for all products I use and other ingredients that are common in cleansers and lotions. I wasn't allergic to any of them. They tried treating me as if it was rosacea, a yeast infection etc. It is small hivey bumps that itch so badly.
Avatar n tn The whitehead pin-head pimples have also started being extremely itchy. My skin feels oily, but after a few days, it gets very dry and starts flaking. I am now wondering if there is something else that I'm allergic to - whether the allergy is food. The rash only appears on my face, as described above. It has appeared only once on my chest and upper back - and it is unsightly! Should I be patch tested again? What could it possibly be?
Avatar n tn I had food allergy testing (Prime Test) and it SAVED my sinuses - get this test if you have allergies/asthma/sinusitis. Certain foods are triggers for these symptoms and you can find relief from staying away from these foods. There is a doctor's post on here that called food allergy testing "unnecessary". I can't believe it!! I had 3 Polyectomies and was sick every day of my life until I found out which foods to stay away from.
Avatar n tn It started about two weeks ago. Never had skin problems before (I've a mild allergy against pollen in spring, but that just effects my nose and eyes). Fist I thought it's bugs or lice or something. Then I discoverd that I got them mostly around my waist. I'm running about three times a week and thats when it gets worst - so I thought maybe it's the synthetic cloths that I wear. They dissapear within a few hours.
176741 tn?1295237589 htm Has a great list of foods and the family they are in as well as other food in the same families. Was the food allergy done by blood test or skin test. I would highly recommended a food allergy blood test, because it actually takes into account how you digest the food. I have 12 food allergies that only effect me if i eat them because its how my body breaks them down that i have problems with. http://www.cookingallergyfree.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it is generally not possible to make a diagnosis of a skin disorder in this forum but I very much doubt that your rash is a reflection of food allergy. Rashes on this part of one’s body are often related to excessive moisture, especially during the summer months and keeping the area as dry as possible might help. As you suggest, contact dermatitis is another strong possibility and you should keep searching for a cause that might not be readily evident.
