Avatar n tn In fact, experts say that having itchy, irritated legs during exercise is fairly common. Certified personal trainer Max Hoyt said the symptoms are actually caused by inactivity. "The capillaries in your legs, they contract and expand rather easily, but if you're inactive they lose elasticity, so they don't expand as readily as they used to," Hoyt said.
Avatar m tn FOr a couple of weeks now, my penis has been itchy. Especially where the ring of skin goes around the head, and where my penis touches my balls all day long. I have had oral sex with another guy lately, but nothing else. I have tried Lamisil, Cortaid and others to hopefullly get it to heal and go away. What is it? I hope it is just jock itch and not herpes! What do you think? I have a Dr. appt for next week, but was wondering what others thought. Thanks for the help.
Avatar n tn During the last year, my scalp has begun to be quite itchy also when I am not engaging in any of the activities (Exertion, Exercise, Embaressment, or Blushing) which used to trigger the itching. This itch is much less intense that the itching triggered by body heat, but is still extremely discomforting, since it's almost always present. The steroid cream did not help in remocing this itching.
Avatar n tn I've been trying benadryl lately, and it seems to shorten my episodes but I think thats just because it calms me down so much. I know exercise will dramatically increase excretion of histamines on the skin, too, and exercise helps big time. I know that in terms of histamines, those two statements contradict one another, but they're interesting observations. Obviously it makes me think so much that I sometimes become irrational and start to entertain ideas that don't make sense.
Avatar n tn In that case, taking bath with cold water after staying in the sun or applying cold wet towels may help. If your legs are itchy during or after exercise, with no relation to heat, you may have exercise urticaria. In such cases, antihistaminics and not exercising on warm or humid days may help. You may apply calamine lotion and cool compresses on the legs. It may help. You may also take some OTC antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin.
Avatar f tn If I resist scratching, like while I'm at work, they fade back to light bumps that can be faintly seen just under the skin. It has spread a little, and I now have another area further down. At night, I unconsciously scratch and find damp drainage spots on my underwear over the area. I've tried anti itch creams, peroxide, alcohol, but nothing works.
Avatar f tn Added fiber will keep your stools softer, smoother so they don't catch or cut into the skin. If you continue to have problems please consult a doctor in the internal medicine field as these symptom could also appear for more serious problems such as Colon cancer. A colonoscopy will tell if you have more serious problems. It's a simple outpatient procedure where you'll be placed under anesthesia while they insert a colonoscope into the large intestine and can look and take biopsy.
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be due to eczema, dermatitis, bacterial or fungal skin infection, diabetes, some medications, etc. Keep the area clean and wear clothes washed in a few drops of chlorhexidine preferably and dried in the sun. You could take oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications for the itching. Apply calamine lotion at the sites. Wear lose comfortable footwear. Maintain good personal hygiene. You could take over the counter medications for your heartburn.
Avatar n tn Hi It seems you are having hives with cold and physical stress/exercise acting as the trigger factor. Itchy red blotchy skin on exercise may be due to a condition called Exercise urticaria characterized by itching, or hives on the legs, arms, chest or neck during or after exercise. You should consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
Avatar f tn When your blood vessels dilate during exercise, histamine is released from the cells, and that's what causes the symptoms -- exactly like an allergic reaction. I did not go very deep into it, but one article suggested taking an antihistamine before exercising. Another article suggested that the condition may be related to food allergies; in other words, something you eat causes histamine to build up in the cells, and then when you exercise, all the histamine is released at once. Good luck.
Avatar n tn i think the problem is spreading as now my other thigh is starting to show same symptoms and is itself itchy but not as bad as the left one. I think ive got a skin disease but darnt go to see the doctor. i had a similar issue on my left wrist although this has cleared up becuase i left it alone long enough. Im at my wits end, i itch in my sleep and it makes my wife unhappy with me moving around and fidgetting all the time.
Avatar f tn I don't know if I am affected by the lack of sunlight and coldness (plus the stress of the Christmas season), my itchy joint and skin are acting up. My face feels buring and cracking. When I googled itchy joint, it popped up autoimmune disease. Wow. this is so right on. Whether it is stresses from food, weather, emotion..., our bodies are so sensitive. I hate this. I go for massage once a week, and I find it helps. Thanks for this forum.
97615 tn?1212682189 mastocytosis?? sarcoidosis??? the dr called it exercise induced anaphylaxis?? it isnt just exercise though. i could use some answers.
1826037 tn?1320340914 been very anemic so i was told not to exercise at all by my dr.. i usually exercise at least 1 hour every surf or hike... i miss it so bad.. i miss being outside.. does anyone know what a safe hgb level would be to start exercising a little bit again.. i know i cant surf cause of the potential for bruising and possible drowning cause im so weak..(haha) anyway ..i cant get a straight answer from my dr ..normal for me was 14.
315094 tn?1201393650 If you've got bad anemia (anything under 11 in my book) and feel like sh!t I wouldn't do any aerobics. I didn't exercise a lick during my treatment and I didn't feel guilty about it either. The only exercise I did was just prior to gettijng my blood sampled, I'd run up and down the hospital staircase (5 stories) a few times until I almost passed out (HGB around 10 at the time).
Avatar n tn Of course, you would not want to keep your brain in very hot water for long, but in the shower/bath heat, he has found it effective. He used to have a constant patch of itchy dry red skin over his nose and eyes....he no longer has that if he continues this therapy on a regular basis.
Avatar n tn Symptoms are restricted to the skin and cause an itchy red ring that when scratched gets worse and more itchy. It is irritating and will drive you crazy and often people scratch off the skin leaving themselves open to infection, but it is not considered a life threatening problem. There is no systemic involvement with ringworm. Your symptoms of stool, throat and other problems are not generally caused by ringworm.
Avatar n tn Hi: I know itchy skin doesn't sound like a big problem, but my legs and arms itch like they were about to fall off everytime I take a shower. I don't have dry skin and I use Aveeno body lotion everyday to make sure I get enough moisture. The itching is like an intense tingling only on my arms and legs (mostly on my legs) and it's so bad that sometimes I just want to run yelling into the street.
Avatar n tn of course that didnt work.. i have tried tanning because they say that is good for itchy skin.. and that didnt work.. im begining to think that i am going to be living with this for the rest of my life! i wish there was a doctor out there that can tell me what this is... my finger hurts so bad that i cant bend it all the way.. thats partly because its swollen too.. and if i bend it the skin will crack.. i try gloves with cream at nite... but everything is just an endless hope!
Avatar m tn Atopic eczema is a relatively common skin condition affecting about ten percent of children in the United States. In the mild forms the skin is dry, hot and itchy. In its more severe manifestations, the skin may become broken, raw and bleeding. The double-blind randomized placebo-controlled study published in Lancet involved 159 pregnant women with a family history of allergies.
Avatar n tn I have similar sounding problem. Very itchy and dry looking skin round the eye area, including the bridge of my nose. One eye is worse than the other. I have tried vaseline, aloe vera gel, even steroid cream which the doc prescribed after diagnosing blepharitis. I don't think it's blepharitis as a lot of the symptoms don't match, eg I don't have crusty or sticky eyes in the morning any more than is normal. Have trawled the net and can't find anything other than an allergic problem.
Avatar n tn Hi, Hives are red, itchy welts or swellings on the skin that often come in clusters. In doctor speak, hives are known as "urticaria."They most often occur as part of an allergic reaction. Hives usually appear suddenly and go away on their own in a matter of days, hours, or even minutes.
Avatar m tn She was mystified by the condition and suggested it was an allergy to some new shoes. After about a week the blisters had dried up and formed patches of dark brown skin that fell off in the course of another week, and briefly everything was fine again. However yesterday the itching returned and during the day the blisters all came up again. I have burst them myself and applied the same cream, but they are more painful this time around.
Avatar m tn Is it associated with the HPV or could it possibly be HIV?? I don't feel bad just have increased acne and an itchy scalp? I know that HIV can be asymptomatic for a long time and before I got the genital warts I did have a flu-like symptom and even a canker sore. I am going to get tested again for HIV because it could have been false negative since its too early to tell, but that is still a while to wait. Anyone have this or know why this is happening to me???
