I'm afraid that the hair loss doesn't stop until after TX ends, though it can lighten up a little at times or worsen at times. You can't really stop it but it will bug you less if you don't see it always in the brush, the drain, floor after blowdrying,so less blowing, brushing and washing.
Some people experience thinning of their hair during treatment but it doesn't usually fall out in the same way a cancer patients hair does (ie alopecia).
You may find with a little extra care and attention, and not too many chemical processes the thinning may not be noticeable to anyone except yourself.
I would be more inclined to wait and see what happened before buying a wig - you can wear scarves and hats to tide you over if it becomes necessary.
I am a licensed cosmetologist and let me tell you; dandruff is caused by a FUNGUS. Dry skin & dandruff are two completely unrelated hair diseases. I have experienced exactly what you are going through right now and you must treat it as dry skin not dandruff. Selsun blue won't do you any good because it contains a medication used for treating the dandruff fungus. Head and shoulders may help because it is targeted for dry, itchy scalp.
My friends sister-in-law lost all of her hair during her pregnancy a few years ago. She had to get a wig until her hair grew back in. It took about 8 months. Good luck mamma.
Lol I do follow a strict diet.. And no I'm not under stress.. It may not be withdrawal related cause I feel pretty much back to normal other than that. If anything the itchy scalp is causing stress haha.
I am still loosing hair and my scalp is so sore I could not wear a wig right now. The PA said this could continue as much as two months from now due to the i/2 life of the meds. I just keep plastering my head with triamcinolone acetonide cream RX the PA gave me (on the $4.00 rx list at walmart in the 80 gram size). It is allowed on the study and it really seems to help for a little while, then I just reapply.
I have had a flaky dry yet oily scalp for a little over a year now and have been under alot of stress lately. Three days ago I noticed small spots on my scalp that look like scabs. I have tried head and shoulders, tyea tree oil shampoos, vinigar and even peroxide and nothing has helped the flakes and what not. Now I am a suspicious about the scabs. Please help!
6 years after ending Chemo, I have less than half of hair regrowth, plus itchy scalp acne (or whatever anyone wants to call it). I wish everyone luck with getting their hair back. I never expected to not have regrowth. I wear a wig maybe once a week for a couple hours.
m 18 and I have red spots at the back bottom of my head near my ears where my ponytail is and the doctors say my scalp is dry an itchy they gave me products for it like t gel , nizoral , alphosyl and nothing seems to work I only notice today wen i took a video of the back of head that the spots have expanded more around and it has become sore it hurts when i brush and put a bobble in my hair is long as passed my hips its very thick and curly when this hot weather comes it makes my head heat up a
Your photo doesn't show anything that I can tell but a blinking eye. Having a bug in your ear isn't that unusual, really, if you're outdoors a lot, but a bug isn't a parasite or a worm and they don't fly. So not sure what you think happened. And sorry, but anything that is infecting your scalp wouldn't infect a synthetic wig. It isn't alive. It can't be infected. So if this is real you need to be a whole lot more clear about what you think is happening.
