itchy

Avatar f tn It burned and tingled my scalp, but afterward my scalp problems were gone for about 4 weeks. No itching, flaking or soreness. I have no idea why, and i don't want to repeat that hair colour, just the results. any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am of Indian - asian origin, male and 19 years of age. I often find my scalp quite itchy and when I do go for a good scratch, I usually on average find that the source of the problem is a hair follicle or two which I would find uprooted in my hands with some kind of a deposit where the root should be. I was wondering if this is normal or whether there might be something causing irritation to my hair roots.
Avatar n tn Hi, I've had a rash? on the top of my scalp for a while(more than a year), not itchy, but it is dry and flakes when I scratch it. It is roughly round shaped, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and red but seems to get lighter colored or darker from time to time. Another thing I noticed is that if I do scratch it hard and hold a tissue over the area there is a clear fluid on the tissue, and if i put alcohol on the area at any time it is more sensitive than the rest of my scalp.
Avatar n tn You might have seborrheic dermatitis on your scalp. I have it and if i don't shampoo my hair daily my head itches and gets alot of flakes. My derm suggested that I buy a shampoo containing ketoconazole. I use Nizoral, It doesn't clean very well but seems to deal with the flaking fairly well.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a small patch of pink skin on my scalp that is tender and has previously been slightly itchy. There is no flaking, no rash (bumps or spots), and no hair loss. It has been going on for months, but has only become bothersome in the last few weeks. I have tried dandruff shampoo and have taken a dose of oral diflucan (for an unrelated condition) since I first noticed the problem, and neither have helped.
Avatar m tn I regularly get spots (like face spots) on my scalp which can be puss filled or just red aswell as some itching and alot of flaking. I have no idea what is causing it however the symptoms appear to be at their worst after my hair has just been washed and dried. The spots and flaking then become a real problem. At first I thought the flaking was dandruff, so I started to use Head and Shoulders Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.
Avatar f tn The first time she got it was a few months ago, it started off with a severe itchy scalp and red itchy spots on her neck/back, then she woke up with a shock, her scalp was covered in yellow crust, it was awful she was so distressed, i had to get it out with a nit comb. That time she was suffering from stress. Now once again it's happening, the weather here in England has been 30c and she works in a School kitchen with no air con so you can imagine how hot it is for her.
Avatar f tn I used Clobetesol solution (prescription) for my scalp. I had an itchy scalp which was associated with a rash on my scalp. It worked great.
Avatar f tn s rosemary mint and it totally changed my hair and scalp. No more flakes or itchy scalp for this lady (; the scalp benefits has even helped people with psoriasis. I went and bought the big bottles with the pumps but if you're unsure you can try a smaller bottle for a lesser price. They're pretty close to all natural and extremely good smelling, I definitely recommend it! I can't not wash my hair or I break out and get extremely oily.

876805 tn?1240185863 s pretty much for scalp issues such as oily scalp, dry scalp dandruff, psoriasis..) and then this conditioner called american classic tea tree conditioner.. it's absolutely amazing, the first time i used it i could FEEL the difference, it was like such a relief to my scalp. The first one whatever is in it soothes my scalp and then the tea tree oil does something else that helps, no idea what but it feels so much better. Hope that helps a little bit!!
Avatar n tn My son out of the blue has horrible flaking and his skin is so thick on his scalp it almost reminds me of when he was a baby and had cradle cap. Does anyone know what this is? This condition was a quick change just between haircuts. Should I take him to the doctor or is there an over the counter remedy?
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms this problem of dry itchy scalp can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar n tn I am a licensed cosmetologist and let me tell you; dandruff is caused by a FUNGUS. Dry skin & dandruff are two completely unrelated hair diseases. I have experienced exactly what you are going through right now and you must treat it as dry skin not dandruff. Selsun blue won't do you any good because it contains a medication used for treating the dandruff fungus. Head and shoulders may help because it is targeted for dry, itchy scalp.
Avatar f tn My scalp is currently burning and itching, I'm sitting here running a brush through it because it just won't stop, my head has been kind of itchy for the passed couple weeks but I didn't think much of it since I thought it was just dandruff, it wasn't too bad until tonight, and now it's affecting my neck but not as bad my head. I haven't changed hair products, and my scalp has no signs of a rash/bumps/lice. Please offer me your best advice! Thank you!

Avatar m tn Over the past couple of days my scalp has been flaking more than usual. But over the past day or two, my scalp and the back of my neck and my tops of my shoulders feel like it's gotten a light sunburn, but I haven't been out in the sun. I also noticed that the back of my scalp is red in a very splotchy (medical term...I know) fashion. Could this just be stress? I've been under alot lately...or is this actually something?
1516332 tn?1360765586 Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
710218 tn?1230645978 t think it is seborrheic dermatitis, I had no flaking and it went away pretty fast, plus it was only on the forehead, just red bumps. I am leaning toward sweat dermatitis, can you provide any more details of what that encompasses? I lean this way because I was sweating profusely at the time and after I cooled down and stopped sweating, it mostly cleared up just leaving behind some very small skin colored bumps that are now going away, but never flaked. Thank you for your valuable input.
Avatar f tn The red areas are not flaky or raised, just noticeably red and itchy. This does not affect my entire scalp, but only specific areas mentioned above. I do notice my hair is thinner in these red patches which is very disconcerting. I've consulted with a dermatologist and I was told it's likely seborrheic dematitis. I was given a topical solution, Clobetasol, and also capsules of Mimocycline. I've consistently used both and have had no improvement to my scalps health.
Avatar f tn My dermatologist prescribed steroids and the rash went down, but the itchy scalp and flaking and hair loss are still going on - three weeks later. I want to know if this is hormonal and stress-related (my job is requiring me to work 12-hour days and is a stressful PR position AND I work a job on the weekends because my PR job doesnt pay what I owe in student loans) - this on top of having to deal with becoming pregnant (unplanned) and then losing that pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Help. About 4 months ago, I developed an itchy scalp (no flaking), eyebrows, eyelashes and soon itchy bumps all over my face. Now, it's slowly moved to chest, shoulders and back. I've noticed it's where I sweat. Also, it clears up as it moves around. In other words, my face and chest are much better, but shoulders and back are new. I work out 5 days a week. Two one hour sessions of cardio make me sweat in all of these affected areas.
