Avatar f tn However, it should at least help to stop your scalp itching, and you may even experience an increase in hair growth? You can buy it in Wal-Mart and many other stores. Also, in Canada you can purchase a stronger version without a prescription which is not sold in the U.S. http://www.dermadoctor.com/article_Nizoral-Shampoo-for-Hair-Loss_198.
Avatar n tn All my life I've been told that I have thick hair. I'm 21, Asian, male; for the past few years I've been noticing that I have thinner hair on the right side of my scalp. When I run my hand gently through my hair I notice that hair falls out WAY easier than the left side of my head. I'm not shedding clumps of hair, it's just my right side of the scalp sheds more in comparison to the left. Is this something normal? I've been stressing about this a lot!
Avatar f tn I have had the same problem!! After a couple years of itchy scalp I had a big bout of hair loss it's didn't have patches but thinned out a LOT, then it stopped, I switched back to Pantene because it gave it more support and started biotin for hair growth ... now I am having all over itchy skin!! Going crazy btw... look into over growth of yeast!! Try a good digestive cleanse and see a naturopath Dr... my boss swears by the "eat right for your blood type" diet.. check it out!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I had been taking Doxycycline for 4 months to treat Blepharitis (an eye condition). I noticed the same as you, itchy scalp and dramatic hair loss. Worst of all I suffered extreme oesophageal injury including and ulceration and became incredibly unwell. I stopped taking Doxycycline 1 week ago now and am really hoping that my hair will stop falling out in clumps now and that it will regrow.
Avatar n tn Recently I have been experiencing a burning and faint itching sensation on my scalp line. I have lost some hair and new hair growth comes in with a crinkly dry texture. My scalp looks healthy and I wash and condition my hair daily. Any ideas.
Avatar f tn I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I have had a small growth on my scalp for years, it never bothered me too much but I always wondered what caused it. It's not noticeable because my hair covers it, it's never itched and I can brush over it. I do have to be careful where I part my hair though and I'm sure it's getting bigger. I asked my GP about it and he said it is a wart, and I could get it taken off easily but it would leave a small bald patch so I may be better off to leave it alone.
Avatar m tn The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. Get it evaluated from a trichologist to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn My dermatologist prescribed steroids and the rash went down, but the itchy scalp and flaking and hair loss are still going on - three weeks later. I want to know if this is hormonal and stress-related (my job is requiring me to work 12-hour days and is a stressful PR position AND I work a job on the weekends because my PR job doesnt pay what I owe in student loans) - this on top of having to deal with becoming pregnant (unplanned) and then losing that pregnancy.
Avatar m tn 3 months ago, I noticed a bump or growth under the skin in my scroatum. it looks like a white ball-like substance. What should I do?
1142540 tn?1261368153 Hundreds of people have blogged and complained about how the acne drug; Doryx, is linked to losing huge amounts of hair on the scalp. I'm experiencing the same problem. had very thick coarse and pretty hair. Now it's becoming thin stringy and nappy. I am freaking out big time and really sad. I'm 22 years old and my dermatologist has had me on this drug for a couple years and at first this did not happen, now it comes out in clumps and I shed everywhere.
Avatar m tn Hi Barb, I'm so sorry you have had limited hair regrowth following chemo--but very happy to hear that you are 6 years out from your course of chemo!! As you probably realize from the old thread referenced at the bottom of your post, hair after chemo may be thinner, a different color or texture, may be changed from curly to straight or from straight to curly, or, unfortunately, in some cases, may not grow back at all.
Avatar m tn My 11 year old daughter has 1 hair-like growth on her scalp that is about 5 mm long and about 10 times thicker than her normal hair. It is hard and hurts if pushed or tugged on. It seems to point the same direction as the hair as it emerges from the scalp. She just noticed it today. I'd like to identify it and find out what to do about it. I have found terms like hardened hair, sclerothrix, sclero trichosis. I have searched things like huge hair shaft and gigantic hair shaft to no avail.
Avatar n tn Try using t gel by neutrogena, that does sound like psorosis. T gel is very helpful, and it's not expensive I use it because I get acne on my scalp from using hair spray And it works wonders even though it is made for psorosis. It's main ingredient is coal tar so it doesn't smell pleasant but it's worth a try. Also if you had lice you'd see it crawling.
Avatar f tn I put my hair half up half down (mine is long) so I get it on my lower scalp (above my neck, on scalp behind my ears etc) and crown/top of my head. You really dont need it on your hair, just scalp so splitting my hair works best. Only wash it every two days. Dr can prescribe clobetasol for itchy spots if it gets worse. Water, sunshine and keeping stress low also helps a lot:) I hardly have issues anymore.
5255779 tn?1414034937 Hi, yes I am only 5 weeks and have really dry itchy scalp which is a first for me, but it is normal due to the hormonal change.
422994 tn?1206974066 My head itches and has kind of a tingly feeling like I can feel each hair follicle falling out. My hair is very thin and wispy. A women at my job asked me why my hair was standing straigth up. You know I hadn't even noticed it. I guess I have new growth or broken off hair that is only an inch or two long and it wants to stand up. I went into the bathroom put water on it to lay it down (mistake) LOL. Basically, my feelings were hurt and I was very sad for awhile but got over it.
Avatar m tn i have a similar problem. the skin itches at scalp as soon as it starts sweating a little. that means if i step into the sun for a minute, it starts to itch really bad. and i can feel the flakes sticking to the roots of a10-12 hair, holding them together. it is as if it was a wet flaky paste that settled there and then dried up. i have to scratch it away really hard to get it off the scalp. also, the hairline is receding and the redness is evident in all the scalp wherever i scratch it.
Avatar f tn I also have a regularly itchy and dry scalp with white or yellow flakes everywhere. I lose a lot of hair during combing and when washing it so have reduced to washing my hair only a couple of times a week or at the most 3 times. Also I often find 'scabs' on my scalp which itch like crazy till I pick them off (gross, I know!) and there are even some small 'bloody' bits in places. My hair strands always have something whitish-clear stuck to them like glue (oil?).
Avatar f tn When I wake up my skin is so oily and my hair is also. Why?? Anyone else having this problem and if u are, what's the sex of the baby? I read oily skin and hair means boy! Is it true?
Avatar m tn ive been dealing with hair loss for quite some time now but ive giving myself scalp messages n it seems to be working real well they are realy short right now and little bit thinner than the other hairs is there something i can do to make them grow faster?
Avatar m tn Those hairs look healthy and thick, thinner hairs are rare.and i have no receding hair line its just thinning mostly on the top, sometimes i get the itchy scalp on sides and back and im able to pull out hairs easily without pain.I have also noticed that my eyelashes/eyebrows and chest hair can be easily pulled out. What pissed me off is that im only 21 and my hair is thinning,is this MPB or something else ?
Avatar f tn t have scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin; just itchy scalp and some pimples. I also have had no hair loss; if only I could on my legs and underarms, ha ha. That's why I asked if it could be related to rosacea. Has anyone every heard of rosacea spreading to the scalp; I know it can affect your eyes.
Avatar f tn It doesn’t grow but 1/4 inch a month. I use a variety of hair growth oils every other day, and no matter what I do, I can’t seem to get that tingly sensation in my scalp that hundreds of reviewers of these oils are making claims of getting; along with claims of extreme hair growth. Does this mean I am not getting enough blood circulation to my scalp or something? Also, my hair at the ends is real thin. So tell me, why do I never have a tingly scalp, no matter what I put on it?

7827642 tn?1396958758 15 weeks and 5 days and my scalp has been super itchy here lately as well as parts of my face and my forehead. Sometimes others parts of my body will itch but not all the time. What could be going on? I don't see the doctor again until Tuesday of next week.
