Avatar n tn There are two kinds of hair loss. There is hair loss with visible scalp disease and there is hair loss without scalp disease. In your case, the hair loss may be associated with both the fungal infection and another underlying condition of seborrheic dermatitis. At this point, there is really no effective medical therapy for hair loss. If your hair loss is associated with tinea and seborrheic dermatitis then the underlying disorders need to be addressed first.

Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms this problem of dry itchy scalp can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.

Avatar n tn Hi Hair loss due to dermatitis, itchy scalp, dandruff, oily scalp etc will reverse by treating the condition. You could be having the hair loss if your hair oil or shampoo does not suit your scalp. You can try a combination of boiled tea leaves (2-3 teaspoons in a glass of water and do not strain) with lemon juice. Apply to scalp and leave for 3-4 hours. Rinse using a mild shampoo. Repeat twice a week. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.

Avatar f tn The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck.
