Common Questions and Answers about Itchy legs and pregnancy

Avatar f tn I'm on my third pregnancy - 9 weeks - and my legs have been incredibly itchy, starting a week before I found out I was pregnant. Is this at all related to being pregnant? I never had this with my other two but I can't stop the itching - especially at night!
8526246 tn?1405605476 I've noticed when I shave my legs they become extremely itchy after and weird enough my leg hairs don't grow as fast as they used to and I always try somehow to put cream on them as well. Is this pregnancy related? Anyone else?

Avatar n tn Occupations that involve a lot of standing, such as nurses, beauticians, teachers, and factory workers. Obesity. Hormonal influences during pregnancy, puberty, and menopause. The use of birth control pills. Postmenopausal hormonal replacement. A history of blood clots. Conditions that cause increased pressure in the abdomen including tumors, constipation, and externally worn garments like girdles. Please see a surgeon for this. Let me know if there is anything else.

Avatar n tn Hi, Pregnancy related allergy reaction are known and seen anytime in pregnancy. They present with lesions anywhere in the body and are relieved with end of pregnancy and anti-allergics. How are you doing now? Have you consulted an allergy specialist for your symptoms? Have you had any benefit from calamine lotion and antihistamine medications? This could be related to hormonal changes associated with the pregnancy and postpartum period.

1885735 tn?1322379216 What I started doing was taking lukewarm showers instead of hot, using Eucerin calming shower oil and then immediately after the shower lathering on tons and tons of Eucerin calming cream and letting it soak in for 5 minutes before rubbing it in. If you can, wait to put on clothes for a half hour or so until all the cream soaks in (I found that the cream acts as a barrier to the clothes, otherwise as my pants touch my legs the itching starts all over).
384896 tn?1335297931 I'll get comfortable, then have to move all around trying to itch my back or my legs or my neck, sides... etc, and it's driving me aswell as my fiance NUTS. Anyone know what might be going on?? I'm gunna be 4 months on Wednesday if that helps.
Avatar f tn It was on my legs, arms, and under my belly button. If it is PUPPPs it either goes away after delivery or simply on its own. But your doctor can prescribe you with a safe antihistamine to help with scratching. I recommend witch hazel throughout the day, Cortisone 10 after drying off from a shower, and coconut oil in the shower as a body wash. Baths don't help it, this is something that needs to be dried out.
Avatar n tn I was super itchy for weeks and just had a blood test done and found out my liver isnt funtioning properly and I am now getting induced next week so I would bring it up to your doctor!
5441854 tn?1371191094 Ur not alone a few weeks back i was itchy to bad i was scratching my legs to the point where they wer bleeding. Also itchy belly, back and boobs. I found cocoa butter helps.
676912 tn?1332816151 Ya know when you shave your legs and you do it too often and get little bumps, that or from a dull razor and you cut yourself in a few little spots where hair is? That's what my legs look like. I thought it may be dry skin, but it doesn't look that way. I thought it may be from a new body wash, but I stopped using it and I'm still itchy. Any advice??? I have hydrocortisone and I don't want to take benadryl.
Avatar f tn After two baths the redness and hives were almost gone and by 3 they were totally gone. I have one every few days and the hives haven't come back. Its worth a try for you. Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath is what I used.

Avatar f tn Itchy skin is very normal during pregnancy, and will be even worse duringthis time of year due to the weather and temperature. I've been going threw it as well. I recommend the cocoa butter at least 3x a day and drinking at least 3-5 bottles of water a day.
Avatar f tn I never had this b4 until about 6 months ago when I was in the latter stages of my pregnancy and now I am 3 months post pregnancy and still have it. I am perfectly healthy and do not have dry skin. She gave me steroidal cream to try but it doesn't work. This is an odd affliction and I hope we can all work together to find out the cause and find a cure. This discussion is related to Itchy legs, no sign of rash or irritation.
431894 tn?1216659546 I am in my 25th week of pregnancy and am starting to suffer from really bad dry, itchy skin on lmy upper legs, mostly thighs and buttocks. Its so dry that the skin is cracked and leaving brown shaded marks where the skin has become very dry. Am using E45 cream wash and lotion, the past 3days which has helped soothe the itch but the dryness seems to be getting worse and spreading to my lower legs. Feels as if all the moisture in my skin has been sapped away. Help!
Avatar f tn Yes I've had it most of my pregnancy. Baths with oils help and lotion.
Avatar f tn I don't know if it's from the cold weather or from pregnancy. Usually during winter my legs itch, but nothing else really. Now, it's my legs stomach, and breasts. It gets worst at night and when I wake up I find scatch marks on me not realizing I'm scatching myself. I do put lotion on and it really does that work that well. Is anyone else experiencing this??
