600619 tn?1219707750 Rubbing Alcohol Is way too strong for ears. It actually will burn the tissue and begin a peeling effect much like a sunburn. Thus, leaving the ears wide open for infection to set in. There are many ear cleaners available, but I prefer the more natural ones with NO alcohol in them. Your Vet should be able to suggest a good ear cleaner for your dog. They usually cost about $12-$14 dollars, but last along time. Good luck and hope this helps..................
626278 tn?1221946201 He recommends 2 parts rubbing alcohol (70%) to 1 part white vinegar. Fill the ears to overflowing, massage gently for 15-30 seconds and allow the pet to shake out the excess. You can also use a dry cotton bell to help mop up excess fluid. He says the alcohol helps cut through the was and dry the ears while the vinegar lowers the pH in the ear environment, making it more acidic and thus tougher for bacteria and yeast to gain a good foothold.
Avatar f tn (Letting gravity take over by laying on my side, chewing gum while laying on my side, hydrogenperoxide, rubbing alcohol, rubbing alcohol with vinegar and even over the counter swimmers ear drops.) My ear canal is sore and still nothing has helped. It’s annoying and things that friends have had worked aren’t working for me. Help!
Avatar f tn I hear rubbing alcohol works sooth the itchyness try that.
Avatar f tn I have tried peroxide, baking soda, tea tree oil, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, various lotions (such as cetaphil), and Hydrocortisone cream. None of this has worked. The hydrocortisone cream was prescribed by a doctor as my 'last chance' to figure out what is wrong. I had also been presrcribed some other type of cream that I can't remember the name of... I think it started with an I. It was also a steroid cream and didn't work.
Avatar n tn This has since cleared but ever since then i have had issues with my ears. It started off just as itchy and flaking inside the canal with a bit of clear weeping when it was really bad. Then a few weeks ago the itching got so bad and i started to feel terrible pain in both ears and down into my jaw. I could hear fluid crackling and bubbling around in my ears. I used dozens of Q-Tips which would come out moist and black - like they were covered in charcoal!
Avatar f tn Maybe ant bites or other insect bites. I would put rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and apply it to the bites. The sting helps with the itching and the alcohol starts drying up the poison. Try not to scratch - it only makes it worse.
Avatar n tn I wipe down the effected area at lest a few time a day with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol kills all the bacteria, cleans everything and evaporate to not leave any moisture for more bacteria to grow on. It did it in a few weeks and got better in days.

Avatar f tn its an astringent and it works wonders for itchy or irritated skin. You can find it near rubbing alcohol. Apply it after a shower with cotton or a paper towel...whatever works for you. It dries up quick like alcohol and I would let it set for a few mins then apply a different lotion.
5009178 tn?1369953775 My tummy is super itchy and I don't want to scratch it and make my stretch marks worse but it is so unbearable at times... also my breast has dry patches on it and no matter how much I put cream on it it doesn't go away..
Avatar f tn Is there any help out there for itchy legs? I have been reading about other people suffering with symptoms like mine. It doesn't sound very encouraging. I have been suffering for several years now. I've tried different lotions but nothing seems to help. Mine seems to be worse during the winter when I have to wear long pants. There is no rash to be seen but I have to scratch sometimes making my legs bleed. It keeps me awake at night.
Avatar m tn i did w/o any complications. but i put everything in rubbing alcohol to kill all germs. used cotton balls to clean ear and hole.
Avatar n tn t regularly wear earrings, the holes sometimes can fill with sebum and dirt that will have a foul odor....Cleaning with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide will get all the junk out.
Avatar m tn After having sex I washed off in my car with water and hand sanitizer that burned like crazy which makes me believe I had rubbing abrasions from the lap dances I had at first. I also washed off at home with soap and rubbing alcohol. About 2 and half weeks later I noticed a very itchy rash under my arms on my sides and a little bit on my stomach. I actually itched all over, but the rash was on my sides. I cleaned the rash with rubbing alcohol and the itching and rash went away after 4 days.
Avatar f tn Today I came home, cleaned my apartment, scattered boric acid all around my apartment, sprayed my sheets with rubbing alcohol (as the bug guy suggested). After all that I finally felt safe to take a nap, but I woke up with a brand new bite on my elbow! I have not seen a single suspicious bug. I used to find carpet beetles, but haven't seen one in weeks. Any ideas what could be causing this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated- can't take the itching anymore!
Avatar n tn My son is 11 now and he has rubbed ears since he was a baby. I even catch him rubbing his friends ears sometimes when he is not thinking about it. LOL! They are just used to it now. It started when he was a baby and I would give him his bottle. He would rub our ears as we were feeding him. Thought he would grow out of it by about 3, but nope, still doing it.
Avatar f tn Next day there are more bumps, spread out to the middle of my back, and itchy as all get out. So i sprayed 99% rubbing alcohol on it. Needless to say it burned like hell, but the itching stopped for a little bit. The next day there were more bumps but some of the ones that were already there felt crusty. Still hurts when scratched, but now it hurts when not scratched too. Weekday is going on)?
Avatar m tn I recently applied (rubbing) isopropyl alcohol to my skin and got a reaction. My skin went red and itchy and then turned purple with a red border, eventually it stopped feeling strange. After about 12 hours it became a blister which has been growing larger and larger to cover the purplish area. I haven't noticed any symptoms other than the blister swelling more. What are the possible complications or things I should look out for?
Avatar m tn Roughly 31/2 weeks later I got a rash by my upper rib cage that was very itchy. I applied rubbing alcohol to the rash and went away only leaving marks that are fading now. I went to a Dermatologist yesterday and she told me that the rash was a fungal infection and prescribed a topical medication. Could the rash have come from sex, or body contact?
Avatar f tn I too have a sore anus and butt crack, so i washed it and applied rubbing alcohol to dry it out,and applied the anti fungal cream terbanafine hydrochloride 1% i immediately felt relief!...
Avatar f tn Usually this is from touching the eyes and transferring bacteria from the hands. If you have itchy eyes from allergies or dry eyes, you could be rubbing them a lot. Rubbing the delicate eye tissue causes wrinkles, so there are many reasons to avoid it. Also wash your hands, including the nails on both sides of the nail as a lot of germs hang on there. Another cause of eye discomfort is dry eyes. Consider whether you eat too many simple sugary foods and processed foods.
