Common Questions and Answers about Itchy ears in toddlers

itchy

Avatar f tn The thing to remember is that they can fluctuate throughout the day and day to day. So in the morning he may appear deaf, but in the afternoon he is covering his ears. This demonstrates an inability to perceive sensory information at the same 'typical' level and the fluctuation in perception causes them distress/pain or they are unaware of their surroundings.
Avatar f tn Is this pregnancy related or not im constantly getting really itchy ears like right inside i know i shouldnt but the only to help is use a cotton bud and really get in it but this only helps for a short period of time.
Avatar f tn I think there is a Cat Community too, that may be a better place to ask. There must be some home-regiments that can be tried, but as my experience is with dogs I'll not suggest any here... may be much the same. Cleaning is the best first step, not sure what to use on a cat/kitten. I'll refer to the moderator for possible move to a Cat Community.
Avatar m tn Some times I will see a rear foot inside the ear. How can I tell if the itchy ears is dirty ears or mites? Is it safe to put ear mite insecticide into a cats inner ear. ? I put Advantage on my cats every month for fleas. My cats are indoor and outdoors cats. I do not let my cats outdoors when it is dark out. Only in the day light.
Avatar n tn I have a 4 month old cockapoo who has chronic itchy ears. We've been to the vet twice who says there is no infection or mites. I have been using witch hazel ear wipes that don't seem to help. I'm thinking it is allergy related. What are the ingredients I should be looking at eliminating? She is very finicky. I've yet to find a food she likes. She doesn't like any treats, other than cheese. Could the cheese be an allergen? Any help would be appreciated.
1582358 tn?1296583097 Dogs will shake their heads excessively in trying to alleviate the pain or itching in one or both ears. The ears are itchy or painful or both due to an ear infection most often secondary to allergies to foods or allergens in the environment or parasitic ear infestation. Once the capillaries are broken in the pinna or flap of the ear and blood fills in the space it cannot get back out and will have to be drained by a vet.
Avatar f tn However, if that behaviour continues and is accompanied by other behaviours such as scratching at his face, spinning, flapping his hands etc, as well as difficulties with speech (either talking or understanding what is said to him), and problems with playing with other children or not appearing interested in other children, as well as appearing deaf or covering their ears - then you need to get an opinion from his paediatrician.
304970 tn?1331425994 It was so hard to watch him be anesthesized last time, and I am just wondering if it is normal to need tubes again so soon? I would have posted in parenting toddlers, but there is never any "action" in that forum.. Thanks.
Avatar n tn My boyfriends 7 yr old daughter likes to rub my boyfriends ears, whether it be while watching a movie or wanting to snuggle at bed time to sleep with us. She likes to rub his ears and he doesn't do anything about it. I am finding that it makes me very uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn I have had itchy, flaking, draining ears ever since swimming in a pool down at DisneyLand 25 years ago. I would use the prescription antibiotics drops, which would relieve the problem for a little while, but then the whole thing would start over again. Recently I have used two new product that seem to be the answer. Don't laugh but there is a non-prescription otic solution used on dogs with the same types of symptons called ZYMOX with hydrocortisone (Amazon.com).
Avatar f tn It looks like black, sticky gunk in the ears. What do the inside of the ears look like? Does this sound familiar? BTW, I have also seen hair loss on the ears, but it was nothing major. Fleas caused that! Please share with us a few more details!! I hope that someone else responds that have seen something like this! The details will help us a whole bunch!
Avatar m tn I am a 14 year old male. I have had very itchy ears for a few years and I always rubbed and scratched them. This irritated them, and in recent times I have noticed a slight decrease in hearing. Every now and then I have a ringing in my ears. I think it's caused by the damage I caused to my ears. I'm scared and am trying to stop irritating my ears so no more damage occurs. But it just itches so much! How do I deal with the itching? Is there any way to heal the damage caused?
Avatar f tn Take sticky candies to chew (or gum if they like it). Chewing can help relieve the pressure in their ears from altitude changes. Sippy cups are good for that too. Bring busy books and activities that are fairly quiet.
Avatar f tn I get itchy ears if i been out in the wind. Make sure you wear a hat.
394610 tn?1326725395 My face on the right side - cheek, ear inside, down to the corner of my mouth had gone numb June 19. I had a ringing in my head since--- Oh, Jan or Feb, I guess. My eye (right again) twitched back in Feb & Mar -- then stopped. But when My face went numb, I started seeking answers. Finally got to a neurologist in Aug who did an MRI and found the Schwannoma. Okay, big major surgery down the line, not right now, but tracking it.

Im 22 years old and im kinda getting worried that i might have cancer.
Avatar f tn For quite a long time, at least 3 or 4 months, I've had a very itchy sensation in my right ear. It comes and goes but sometimes gets really annoying. I keep trying to scratch inside with my finger and will sometimes manage to get some whitish/yellowish wax out but I never use any foreign objects to clean my ears such as bobby pins or q-tips. Sometimes the ear seems very dry and sometimes it's wet inside.
Avatar f tn Hi, you have the exact symptoms I have now, the scaby neck and behind the ears, the scabby itchy ears and the pin pricks on the end of my finger which looks like splinters but isn't. Did you find out what this was!? Or has anyone else had the same??
Avatar f tn Hi, for the last three months I have been feeling dizzy, so i went to the doctor and was told I have vertigo, and that it will come and go. I went again to the doctor yesterday as my ears have been itchy, he told me I have mild excema in the ear, I've also had cracking slightly in the ear. Then last night while washing my face I noticed a small marble size lump near my ear and jaw. It doesn't hurt but isn't normal. Any ideas. The doctor didn't pick this up.
Avatar f tn They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin.
Avatar n tn I have itchy ears in general. It was no different to me that my ear was bothering me. As I laid on my side to get to sleep, I had a squeak in my ear and it felt like something was draining out. I had never felt that before. It did it two more times (squeal and draining feeling). When I lifted my head up a few minutes later, there was a tick on my pillow. My husband thinks it came from the cat (who was not far away). I had never experienced that sensation before.

Avatar f tn Itchy head, in the hair, around the ears only. I have no visible irritation on my scalp. The itching feels more like an occasional crawling than an itching on the skin's surface. This itch is not constant, but occurs consistantly throughout the day. I use hair color. I have no health problems aside from 2-3 migraines monthly and mild anemia. This has been happening for about a year. Any ideas as to what I should check into for a remedy? Thanks in advance for the help.
