zyprexa

Avatar m tn OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.

1082697 tn?1260064616 Zyprexa can be effective for depression when combined with an antidepressant. My Psychiatrist was thinking about it for me, but I told him no and that he would have to be more creative with his meds. (I'm just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety.
1082697 tn?1260064616 i am taking it to help with my depression along with celexa . i have been on the celexa for years. the zyperxa is making me hyper. but a good hyper. i have been taking it for over a week now. now this drug is suppose to make you sleepy. well, it is working the opposite for me. the doctor told no one she has ever had on zyprexa had this reaction to it. if anyone can help me with this, i would appreciate it. i am not feeling so depressed .
Avatar f tn Because wellbutrin is the most stimulating antidepressant out there and is not recommended for those for whom anxiety is a problem. Doctors usually only combine an ssri with wellbutrin if you're having sexual dysfunction or weight gain if anxiety is a problem. Here's what probably happened: you had either a common reaction to antibiotics, or the antibiotics have killed off your beneficial organisms.
874521 tn?1424116797 s depression which is responsible for the acknowledged 20% mortality in BP whether in BP1 or 2 especially the latter very pronounced. Now lamictal is good for depression so is seroquel which is often used as a monotherapy because it has an antidepressant effect. In mania seroquel is best, don't say lithium or tegretol, remember that in lithium NOT only drink a lot of water but plenty of water with flush it out, too cumbersome. Seroquel is best.
628714 tn?1268238196 Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors.
Avatar n tn However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.
Avatar f tn Personally, I am not a fan of EITHER of those meds for the treatment of anxiety. Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic and can be used as an adjunct treatment (along with an antidepressant) in treatment of depression and anxiety that hasn't responded well to just an antidepressant. Again, just in my humble opinion, I think there are better options out there, especially to START with. Have you tried any other medication? Therapy? How long have you had anxiety issues?
1082697 tn?1260064616 the zyprexa is working so well. i am the only one she has on zyprexa that is not sleepy. she is amazed at how good it works for me.
Avatar f tn I am just curious how freely is Zyprexa prescribed for anxiety disorders outside Australia? I will certainly discuss this with my doctor when I see him next, but I welcome anyone who has more knowledge on this matter. Thanks.
Avatar n tn It has been almost two weeks since I withdrawn from zyprexa and it looks like it is getting worse everyday. I have used this medication for 1.5 months and my highest dosage was 10 mg that I took for 7 days. Im feeling very weird, not alert or not conscious at all. It feels like Im some kinda zombie without emotions. I canĀ“t even sleep well at night, Im a sleep but awake at the same time. I get panic attacks because Im scared I will be like this forever.
Avatar m tn Zyprexa is classed as an "atypical antipsychotic" medication. It can be prescribed to treat many different mental illnesses and mood disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression. Have you been diagnosed with a certain disorder, or is this med being recommended for your mental state during w/d? There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids.
874521 tn?1424116797 Hi Opus88 I hundred per cent agree with IL. I hate zyprexa, although an atypical AP and very strong MS but very sedating. I read they give it as a strong mood stabilizer too but it will make him tired. Depakote (valporate) is good for mania rather than depression. The meds given will not elevate him up on the contrary will make him slip down, as a matter of fact i would be astonished if it didn't. BP is a physical mood swings.
Avatar n tn I also take lexapro for the depression. I gained some weight at first on the zyprexa but am gradually getting that back off. I was slender to start with. Thanks for your thoughts.
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with Major Depression with psychotic features. He has been on 20mg of Zyprexa, 100mg of Wellbutrin, 60 mg of Prozac for three years. Is this a normal course of treatment?
Avatar m tn seroquel doesn't come in the dissolve form but can be used as needed as is very good for some people with agitation and things like that. I use it for when everything gets to much and it makes me sleep it off.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 24 I've been diagnosed with bipolar, depression, severe anxiety and OCD. I'm taking 100mg of Zoloft (for about 8 years now) It was recently 200mg, but my Dr was going to change it, but while weaning off them I got so depressed and started having suicidal thoughts and started cutting again. I think I should go back up 200mg because I 'm still not coping well. I also take 5mg of Zyprexa daily. I feel there is something else wrong though.
401554 tn?1270213756 I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
Avatar m tn She went in the hospital for a month and they started her on meds and ECT treatments which seemed to help quite a bit, but it is a difficult treatment to go through and is only used in really really bad cases. She has underlying issues that cause her depression. Do you have any unresolved issues? Are you in counseling at all? I would suggest that. Your on Remeron which is a great severe depression medication. My girlfriends mom was also put on Zyprexa.
Avatar m tn My son is stopping zyprexa because he said it has never helped his depression. He is on 2.5 mg a day. He went off each pill one week at a time because he gets dangerous withdrawl symptomsms. He is off a pill on friday, saturday and monday. He is still on the 2.5 mg of zyprexa on tuesday, wednesday, thursday and sunday. Which would be the next pill to get off of? The program he is on refuses to take him off the medicine now and he went to the hospital to get off it.
