OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.

i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.

My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?

i resently became very depressed. the doctor has aadded zyprexa to it. it is for bipolar but is also used to boost your antidepressant. it is working well. i feel totally back to normal i do not have any of side affects .it does make me very hungry but i watch what i eat. anyone else taking zyprexa? or celexa?

Zyprexa can be effective for depression when combined with an antidepressant. My Psychiatrist was thinking about it for me, but I told him no and that he would have to be more creative with his meds. (I'm just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety.

i am taking it to help with my depression along with celexa . i have been on the celexa for years. the zyperxa is making me hyper. but a good hyper. i have been taking it for over a week now. now this drug is suppose to make you sleepy. well, it is working the opposite for me. the doctor told no one she has ever had on zyprexa had this reaction to it. if anyone can help me with this, i would appreciate it. i am not feeling so depressed .

the zyprexa is working so well. i am the only one she has on zyprexa that is not sleepy. she is amazed at how good it works for me.

It has been almost two weeks since I withdrawn from zyprexa and it looks like it is getting worse everyday. I have used this medication for 1.5 months and my highest dosage was 10 mg that I took for 7 days. Im feeling very weird, not alert or not conscious at all. It feels like Im some kinda zombie without emotions. I can´t even sleep well at night, Im a sleep but awake at the same time. I get panic attacks because Im scared I will be like this forever.

Hi Opus88 I hundred per cent agree with IL. I hate zyprexa, although an atypical AP and very strong MS but very sedating. I read they give it as a strong mood stabilizer too but it will make him tired. Depakote (valporate) is good for mania rather than depression. The meds given will not elevate him up on the contrary will make him slip down, as a matter of fact i would be astonished if it didn't. BP is a physical mood swings.

I also take lexapro for the depression. I gained some weight at first on the zyprexa but am gradually getting that back off. I was slender to start with. Thanks for your thoughts.

seroquel doesn't come in the dissolve form but can be used as needed as is very good for some people with agitation and things like that. I use it for when everything gets to much and it makes me sleep it off.

Hi, I'm 24 I've been diagnosed with bipolar, depression, severe anxiety and OCD. I'm taking 100mg of Zoloft (for about 8 years now) It was recently 200mg, but my Dr was going to change it, but while weaning off them I got so depressed and started having suicidal thoughts and started cutting again. I think I should go back up 200mg because I 'm still not coping well. I also take 5mg of Zyprexa daily. I feel there is something else wrong though.

I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. My son is stopping zyprexa because he said it has never helped his depression. He is on 2.5 mg a day. He went off each pill one week at a time because he gets dangerous withdrawl symptomsms. He is off a pill on friday, saturday and monday. He is still on the 2.5 mg of zyprexa on tuesday, wednesday, thursday and sunday. Which would be the next pill to get off of? The program he is on refuses to take him off the medicine now and he went to the hospital to get off it.
