flomax

Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?
Avatar n tn Having done some research before recieving your reply, I did come across information regarding the use of tamsulosin, also known as Flomax, being used for orgasmic pain. The only problem is if you are on Viagra therapy you cannot take Flomax because of the interactions. You can stop the Viagra but then taking Flomax will be of no use if you are not able to acheive an erection without Viagra.
1831849 tn?1383228392 Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3. So far so good. I think it's allowing me to better empty my bladded.
Avatar m tn In animal models, it was shown to affect testes size and shape. It very well could be the flomax. But worth it to reduce the prostate. Any ejaculation issues?
Avatar m tn Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.
Avatar m tn Not everyone who is on or who has taken Flomax develops IFIS (intraoperative floppy iris syndrome), but it occurs with the fluid currents in the eye during the emulsification of the cataract nucleus, or the irrigation-aspiration of the cortex. Fortunately, we have good ways of dealing with IFIS, such as intraocular epinephrine, viscoelastics, and the Malyugin Ring pupil expander.
Avatar f tn Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I? History- Irritable bowel syndrome, (past)stomach ulcers, smoker, and just diagnosed with Fibrous Dysplasia (still finding out more information and getting more testing, health problems with this also started in Feb.
Avatar m tn t summon any pre-ejaculate will usually end up causing me a lot of discomfort, whereas actual sex or at least state of high arousal followed by a satisfying climax, will often make my symptoms feel better, as if the prostate is getting flushed. When I was taking a muscle relaxant, my ejaculations were weak, and I had CONSTANT prostate issues. The doctor I saw was rather hurried and it was hard to ask him any questions.
2143924 tn?1545284130 Hello, For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax)to speed the passage of stones. The size and location of ureter stones are the most important factors for predicting the spontaneous passage of the stone. Lithotripsy is a good option for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Consult a nephrologist for more queries and assistance. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn t taking Flomax (tamsulosin), you might ask your doctor for it -- it dilates the muscles of the distal ureter and helps stones pass quicker. If you were my patient and needed ureteroscopy, I would not be likely to leave a stent. Studies show that in an uncomplicated ureteroscopy, a stent is probably not needed.
Avatar m tn 9mm, it is passable without surgery, and the most effective medication to help it along is called tamsulosin (Flomax).
Avatar f tn d be in the bathroom constantly. As it is he is in here every hour and still has urine retention which greatly effects his comfort level. Urologist isn't doing much to help him. Do people with MS have to use catheters as a rule, or is this a unusual problem?
Avatar m tn The catheter is in place, and the leaking/flooding/voiding is around the catheter. The urine that is coming out in this manner is usually around 20cc each time I feel like voiding, and the color is cloudy and has white floaty stuff in it. I don't have a spinal cord injury. I don't now about bladder spasms. Usually I just relax the muscles and the urine comes out. In the past day or so it's been a little uncomfortable as if the muscles were pushing it out or something.
Avatar m tn My private GP has prescribed me a 4 week course of Tamsulosin (Flomax) thats when I discovered CPPS on the net. I havnt started taking the course yet. What is your opinion on this medication and is this prescribed for CPPS sufferers? I could not find the CPPS information from Stanford Univ dept of urology. Could you please paste me a link? Thanks again Doctor, this forum has been a great help and it is an absolute privilige to be able to gain access to experts like yourself.
Avatar f tn the semen is directed into the bladder rather than down the urethra. Retrograde ejaculation is described as being painless and harmless. The diagnosis is made by finding the "missing" sperm in the next urine void. Also, the urine may appear cloudy from the addition of semen. It can be caused both by neurologic abnormalities (MS, diabetes) and as a side effect of some meds and Flomax is one.
Avatar f tn For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax) to speed the passage of stones. A person with a larger stone, or one which blocks urine flow and associated with pain, may need more urgent treatment. Consult. Early diagnosis and treatment will be helpful. This is only an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. a nephrologist for more queries and assistance . I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Regular ejaculation, about 3-4 times a week, has been considered ideal for keeping the prostate healthy. This is based on the capacity of the average prostate in producing semen and may vary from individual to individual. Ejaculation too infrequently or in excess of the prostate gland's capacity to produce semen can result in prostate irritation and can predispose to infection. Regards.
Avatar m tn It can take as little as 1-2 mins and as long as... well, a long time before the bladder empties itself. There have been times when I sit on the loo with a full and bursting bladder and only a little comes out and although its just a drip, the discomfort is a little less. Soon enough the feeling will come and I'll again go to the loo to urinate. In short, my bladder may empty in one 'sitting' or over 2-3 'sittings'.
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
Avatar n tn Iam going through the same and have been since 2005.x-rays,cat scans, three different doctors and waiting fo number four doctor to make appointment. He is supposed to shoot me with water and alcohol in the inguinal tube to supposedly kill that nerve? wished I had my hernia back and that doctor had that mesh mess sewn to his nuts!
