SHe has white spots the size of an eraser on each side of her throat and her throat is almost swollen closed. I took her back today and they gave her clindomycein and prednisone which she had last year for mono. He honestly said "I don't know what to do with you?" and walked out? SHe can't eat and she can't swallow and white spots are getting worse. WHat do I do next? Obviously not go back to the same pediatrician.

Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers.... Ive tried everything from no juice to flossing with no luck. Is this an indication of a bigger problem?
i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?

My sodium level was low and my white blood count and granulocytes were very high and my lymphocytes were low. The Dr. put me on Omnicef for 10 days. I went back to the doctor a few days ago, and everything else turned out normal except now I had high Calcium and High Total Blood Protein. My Total Protein was 10.6. I am worried about the possibility of a Parathyroid Tumor with Cancer or something serious.
Toddlers tend to put their hands in their mouths alot ( and my son ***** his thumb when he is sleepy).I wash his hands often but he still gets these throat infections. Except for a period when he went about 4 months without any problem, he gets the infections about every three to four weeks or so. On occasion, if his throat is only a little red, he will get over it on his own. But more often that not, his throat is very infected and ulcers develop so that he needs an antibiotic.

and she was diagnosed with Strep Throat (She normally gets strep at least 3 times/winter).She was given omnicef for an antibiotic (she is allergic to Zithromax) About a week and a half later she was diagnosed with Pnemonia, and given anther omnicef perscription. One week later the pnemonia was getting worse, and she was hopsitalized for 2 days with IV antibiotics. We left with an additional 5 days of omnicef. Through out this time, she continues to run fevers any where from 99.5-105.

And strep is notoriously resistant. They now use higher doses of things and antibiotics have additive agents to help them stay potent in killing the bacteria. So, if you took the full course and are still sick, follow back up with your doctor for the next step. Knock this out hopefully soon!

I remember the day before not feeling too good and my mom making me eat poached egg on toast for dinner the night before. I think I had strep throat or was coming down with it. That is my professional opinion as a clinical microbiologist The only other thing is are your lymph nodes swollen? Could these be what you feel when you swallow? You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.

So she explained to me how ambien was very addictive, and she did not won't me to trade one problem for another so she prescribed me rozerem 8mg. I took one about 10:30pm, fell asleep at about 1:00am, woke up at eleven. Oh my gosh...I feel great..
This fall he has been exposed to strep and he is now doing toe curling tics and finger cracking over and over. It is going on six weeks since they started. He is on zoloft for anxiety, abilify for the moods and attention and tics. Omnicef for the strep reaction. How do I know if the meds are working if he is still having these bad flair ups?.He is so sensitive and cries so easily. I notice him overreacting to things.
