Avatar f tn I have been on olanzapine for 15 years and has helped me greatly with anxiety, and other mental health conditions. I am 35 years old and have over the past 7 weeks experienced extreme pain in my feet and ankles. I had also over the past 6 months experienced tingling in the feet and legs which I believe is a side effect of long term use off olanzapine. I have been very concerned over the servere pain in my feet as it is all over the foot and can be painful to walk on.
Avatar f tn I was put on olanzapine an anti phycotic on top of my fluvoxamine meleate 200mg for deap depression after and home invasion. While the olanzaoine was helpful with my depression i think it was also causing leg pain. the longer I took it for the worse the pain got and more pain meds I needed to take to get threw my day to just walk. Once I was strong enough to come off olanzapine I weaned my self off and the leg pain started to get better over time.
Avatar m tn Many medications used to treat mental illness cause weight gain in many users. Different meds have different effects, so while one might result in weight gain, others won't. It's trial and error. When the only drug that works causes a lot of weight gain, that's a big problem.
6452367 tn?1430944592 See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. Clonidine is very helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
Avatar f tn t be the medication tho I was taking NOTHING else but me and my GP saw those twitches and tremors alright! ) ..swapped to 1 x 5mg olanzapine for three weeks and now okay enough to Research, tremors decreased by 90% but packing on the weight despite regular exercise. With sedation I get my situation under control and my fears scuttle off far enough away for me to live outside of four walls...
Avatar f tn 5mg and Buproprion XL 300mg... After a couple months and not much change my doctor adds in Olanzapine 5mg, problem is I've been doing a bit of research online and am now too nervous to take the Olanzapine(Zyprexa) with the Clonazepam(Klonopin). Every thing I've seen has basically said that these two can interact very badly causing shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, etc. It would be much appreciated if I could get some feedback from anyone who has taken the two together.
Avatar m tn I was given 4 types of drugs YEARS AGO in 2007 Olanzapine,Risperidone,Depixol,Trihexyphenidyl, i suspect it is the Olanzapine that has caused an internal burning gastric sensation below my navel area and around crotch area and wondered if you know of any drug, vitamins, herbs to reverse the damage caused and if you know what the problem could be?
Avatar n tn However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.
5790942 tn?1374334321 It is an anti-psychotic drug that is usually used for people suffering from schizophrenia and other psychological disorders. It's not addictive per se, but it is like most psych drugs and once our bodies become used to taking it, we must wean ourselves off of it. I suppose that there could be an abuse potential there. We are addicts and can find a way to abuse just about anything.
Avatar f tn Do you have a psychiatrist or a regular doc doing this? Also, is anxiety your main problem or is it caused by depression? I ask because if anxiety is the main problem wellbutrin wouldn't be a drug to use, as it's the most stimulating antidepressant out there short of taking speed. There may be good reasons for what's happening here, but I'd want more info if I were you.
698408 tn?1256958348 Seroquel is only approved for use here for 6 months and then it is no longer subsidised by the government which means the price doubles. So its thought of as a short term fix for BP. It is, however, approved for use in schizophrenia. That means that after being on it for 6 months I will have to find what they call a maintenance drug i.e. one tat can be used ongoing. I must say I agree with you re the Seroquel as I can take as much or as little as I need.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was on olanzapine my dose was anywhere between 5mg and 12.5mg. I felt a lot better on seroquel after the transition period. I find I am not as drowsy and my appetite isn't as strong, meaning that I am not gaining as much weight. Olanzapine is good for crisis but day to day I find seroquel suits me better, hooe it goes well for you too!
Avatar m tn Hi shadowknight, the symptoms that you are experiencing are probably because of the medication you are getting, don't know about prozac but these are the classic side effects of oleanzapine.
Avatar m tn ) which means that reducing olanzapine by 2.5 is like reducing seroquel by about 100mg which is very large (google for the equivalence of antipsychotics e.g. 1mg risperidone is equivalent to 100 seroquel, etc...) i suggest you fix your dose (ask your pdoc of course) to 2.5 but add 1mg of benzo say to supplement it.
Avatar f tn Each drug has its pro and con, for instance although abilify is newer than seroquel but the majority take the last one because the 1st is activating and can cause anxiety contrary to seroquel which is good for anxiety. so they say the combo which suits your BP is the one you choose. obesity nowadays is the current state of affair. people get fat whether they have BP or not, e.g. the weather, junk food, etc... in my view health is the only thing which matters. i.e. search for a diet.
Avatar m tn Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110. The doc has added on amlodipine also. I am still on the bupropion xl but now am titrating up on lamotrigine.
Avatar f tn Before I was on olanzapine I couldnt sleep till 4am after going to bed at 11pm and having my eyes closed for all that time whilst trying to sleep, the problem was was that my mind was racing, and couldnt turn off. Now I am working night shifts and it has really caused problems with my bi-polar and sleeping, its as if my tablets no longer work, so I shall be going onto a higher dosage maybe. But yes, I do get very tired from olanzapine!
628714 tn?1268238196 Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Avatar f tn I Have borderline state a personality disorder and bad anxiety and panic and take sertraline 100mg and olanzapine 5mg which has been reduced from 10mg. Medication is the last resort but meditation is great and thinking of happy times in your life when you get anxious helps too also deep breaths in your nose and out your mouth help loads xxx hope ur OK.
Avatar n tn Well, it’s natural for you to feel apprehensive as being shifted to a new drug and its dose is being reduced. Both Olanzapine and Resperidone are atypical antipsychotics. So, basically, you will be taking the same class of antipsychotics. Resperidone is however a very potent antipsychotic. The response to treatment has been found to be more stable with Resperidone, so that’s a plus point with this drug.
639472 tn?1243178810 since my last posts i have finaly seen a decent shrink who has proplerly Diagnosed me with Bipolar Disorder and mixed anxiety disorder. the Shrink has put me on 10mg of Olazapine a day with the intent to push my dosage up to 20mg a day.this is defenatly helping with my sleep and moods.as for my DHC addiction i have fallen off the wagon a bit..i have been taking upto 1000mg a day..im hoping now that im on the Olanzapine it should help me cut down the DHC..
Avatar f tn They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts. I didn''t want to do the things I wanted, It was hard to cope with my previous social life, I felt like I have nothing to talk to my friends, like my brain is empty, like I'm brain washed.
Avatar m tn t know what your primary psychiatric disability is but anti-psychotics are not used for standard anxiety disorder unless there is something else wrong. Please let me know more why all the medications were prescribed (if you don't know ask your psychiatrist) and then I could give you more information. Thanks.
Avatar f tn 1 mg twice a day though the doctor may prescribe more if you are taking a high amount of opiates. One of the main benefits is it helps with cravings. It is only used for 7 to 10 days though. It is a medication that requires tapering off of if taken for a length of time (like most high BP and heart medications) A local couple who provide fresh raw honey swear by bee pollen sprinkled on cereal, salads, vegies...pretty much whatever you want to put it on will help.
