Common Questions and Answers about Is marinol legal in pa

marinol

Avatar m tn Just to provide a little more detail on Marinol. Marinol is legal in the US and is available by prescription. It is not real marijuana but man-made or synthetic THC. THC is one of the psychoactive components in marijuana; however real marijuana has other chemical componds that Marinol does not such as CBD (cannabinoid) that isn't very psychoactive but helps significantly reduce inflammation, relaxes muscles, and relieves pain.
Avatar f tn People that do not know what they are talking about should not say a word until they do their own research. Marinol can be prescribed by any doctor, and it is legal. Stop giving advise until you know what you are talking about. That is the problem. Sandman2 do your research. People depend on advice and yours is wrong.
917763 tn?1311628896 Medical marijuana is not legal in our state. I spoke to my PA about getting Marinol for the awful nausea I had, and she said it's usually prescribed to cancer patients, and would probably be questioned by the insurance company. Instead, she prescribed Zofran, which is also used by cancer patients, and is very very expensive without insurance.
Avatar f tn The reason I ask is because there are some doctors out there that will support both medications as long as medical marijuana is legal in your state. They are hard to find but typically the doctor you would visit to get your MMJ license renewed would prescribe the opioids or refer you to another doctor that is MMJ Friendly. Another option is for you to ask the doctor for a prescription for Marinol...it is synthetic THC.
338489 tn?1215558109 then only available in the states that have medical marjuana He also mentioned f you are lucky enough to be living in a medically legal state... Marinol is looking promising with helping with spasticity...
Avatar m tn Medicare coverage depends on doctor's DIAGNOSIS which must be "cachexia related to cancer" along with dose not exceeding FDA label maximum for the diagnosis. I do not know the FDA rules. The "alternative" is just dronabinol, the generic name of marinol. Marinol is synthetic THC, an oil/liquid at room temp, but provided as gel tabs which must be kept refrigerated. Marinol is NOT the CBD discussed on TV for kids.
620048 tn?1358018235 His facility will not recommend the use, but he supports the use if a doctor outside his facility recommends it. In Colorado, it is legal (Amendment 20 to the Colorado Constitution) and the recommendation costs about $60 a year. I guess to address twopack, the idea is not to get "wasted" like highschool, but to get enough to function or sleep and reduce the prescription drugs. No one has ever died from a Marijuana "overdose," but Tylenol kills several people a year.
Avatar m tn Me not living in a Medical marijuana state i have to break the law in order to feel better. Since im breaking the law by medicaling myself i recently have a run in with the law now am on probation. I get drug tested 2 times a week. I have not use marijuana in about 2 months and everyday its the same thing anxity, horrible back pain, and atleast 3-6 times a week i have bad nausea. Im wondering how to get marinol?
Avatar m tn Marinol is just pharmaceutical MJ, and docs cannot prescribe it for w/ds. I agree with the others, ride it out. Anything you're feeling won't harm you....just just have to get through it. Wanting to turn to another drug to ease the w/ds from the first drug is how people stay stuck on the merry-go-round.
Avatar f tn ) I live in Washington where even recreational usage is de-facto decriminalized. Medical use is legal for most chronic illness. Marinol is now only schedule III, which is less than most opioids (which Dr.s have given me without batting an eye). Part of it is that I see a psychiatrist, and have had to undergo evaluation for transplant. Both assesments have deemed me an exceptionally low risk for addiction. (In addition, there's been no drug abuse, alcoholism, etc.
163305 tn?1333668571 I say if it helps, it should be available, period! It cannot be any more dangerous than the side effects that other drugs do.
1162446 tn?1262804903 The laziness it can cause really can be a problem with the youth of our country and people in general, however, people who are going to sit around and get high all day, are probably going to do it whether MJ is legal or not. Opium was also primarily smoked before they made it into the pain relievers we have today. I would hope they could make a class of THC based drugs that might be able to help people in the same way.
461838 tn?1255790216 The problem with nausea meds like zofran, and pills like marinol, is that during cancer chemo the nausea can be so bad that the patient cannot tolerate oral meds. I tried prescription nausea meds but they were horribly expensive and not particularly effective, even when I could hold them down.
Avatar f tn I don't think Marinol would be a replacement for any of the ms meds - mostly it will serve as a calming aid or as mentioned above to help people gain weight. It won't actually serve any neurologically protective function. My neuro when I first was dxed last month told me that there is a strong hope that an oral tablet option will be available by next fall/winter.
Avatar n tn No offense to you whatsoever, but something just isn't adding up here. First of all...why are you asking about what would show up in a urine test? If you are getting the Xanax Rx'ed, then it shouldn't be a concern. Even for a job drug screen...unless you perform a job where use of that kind of med is absolutely prohibited....if you test + and have a valid current prescription, it isn't a problem.
Avatar m tn I have been treated for Chronic pain post Cancers and therapies, and I am very tolerant to any Opiates. I would like to try using Marinol (synthetic THC) for pain; it helped my pain as well as my nausea when I went through my Stem-cell Transplant. I am in Athens, GA; does anyone know of a doctor willing to prescribe this medicine for pain (when you have not been diagnosed with a cancer...yet?
Avatar f tn Is Marinol pills good to use in kids who have seizures from Chiari malformation type 1
Avatar m tn Not all centers consider marijuana an automatic disqualification - about 70% do. How the other 30% factor pot use into liver transplant eligibility probably varies somewhat from center to center. When I was transplanted in June 2000 I asked about pot smoking and the transplant surgeon told me that they had never denied a liver because of pot. Perhaps my center has changed its policy but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't.
