I am also going through similar dandruff, my question to you is how do I determine, whether my dandruff is a sign of psoriasis or seborrhoeic dermatitis? FYI, my dandruff don't respond to any of the dandruff shampoos I have tried so far, I have started using tea tree oil since 2 weeks & I massage it once a week.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
my 13 yr old daughter just developed a rash on her hairline about 2 months ago but still has it. she also has a problem dandruff and her hair also gets oily. her hair is almost to her waistline and she wont allow anyone, except for me, to cut it.
Psoriasis of the scalp and dandruff are very common. The best thing I've ever heard of to combat it is the tar shampoos. T-Gel is a name brand and there are lots of knock off's with the same ingredients. This is what dermatologists recommend.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky,dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily).

They sometimes use UV light treatment but this is a lot harder on the scalp if you have hair. A dermatologist has things they can prescribe. My son doesn't have psoriasis but another fungal issue. He uses a special shampoo that controls it.
Try using t gel by neutrogena, that does sound like psorosis. T gel is very helpful, and it's not expensive I use it because I get acne on my scalp from using hair spray And it works wonders even though it is made for psorosis. It's main ingredient is coal tar so it doesn't smell pleasant but it's worth a try. Also if you had lice you'd see it crawling.

The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I'm unable to wear twist-outs/braid-outs or any hairstyle that requires me to wear my hair out.
This rash has been with me two months or so now, it only itches sometimes and sometimes stings. It is mostly on my forearms, the backs of my hands, and my legs, it is quite sparse on my chest, only a few spots. It gets scaly on the back of my hands sometimes, and seems to result in a fair bit of dead skin, if I scratch it it's like a guy with dandruff scratching his head. It hasn't spread or receded in about a month now.

For the last year or so, I've had some pretty mean dandruff. Head and Shoulders does absolutely nothing for it. It's gotten a lot worse over the last few months, so I went to my dermatologist to get it checked out.

The last few weeks my scalp his been itching something awful, it is centered around the crown. I don't have dandruff and dandruff shampoo makes it worse. I have taken to washing my hair once a week because it itches so badly. The itching is making my head hurt. Please help.
