hernia-surgery

Avatar n tn m afraid I might not be insured. But I need to get the surgery done. How expensive can it get? Please tell me at least an approximate figure! What options might I have of financial help? Thank you!
Avatar m tn s the good part, all of what i just mentioned affects soccer players the most and its usually not that expensive of a surgery, it takes one or two days max and is minimally invasive....anyway i don't wanna take long, i'm no doctor thats just my two cents worth....
Avatar m tn ll be back in the game...
Avatar m tn Hi. I am a 49 y/o female. Several weeks ago I noticed a soft movable lump in my right groin area. I have a history of a right inguinal hernia which was repaired appx. 27 years ago. My physician thought it not to be a recurring hernia but rather a enlarged lymph node and placed me on antibiotics and ordered a Ultrasound of the right groin. The ultrasound suggested it to be a complex cyst.
Avatar f tn I would be very skeptical about their ability to help a hiatal hernia. Chiroprators manipulate joints. A hiatal hernia is soft tissue and I wouldn't want one messing around there. Some other option you may want to try - probiotics, digestive, enzymes, and carrot juice. My compounding pharmacist also recommends taking acid to aid digestion. The reasoning makes sense to me, but it is rather expensive. Let me know if you would like more information on that.
Avatar m tn He gave a me some antibiotics for the epidydimis and some Nsaid’s and painkillers for the hernia. He told me the hernia did not yet need surgery. Fast forward a few months the pain persisted and now it could be felt in my testicle, As my first urologist was not available i found another and went to him. This doctor didnt use the ultrasound and said he felt nothing out of the ordinary, and also told me about the hernia( without prior knowledge of my visit to the other urologist).
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your complete answer. Dear Dr Mathews, i just want to mention that the hydrocele is in my left side testicle but the Hernia is on the right side of my lower abdominal area,so it's not related to left testicle,is there a chance to get the hydrocele on right side(after the surgery) if they try to fix the hernia???
Avatar m tn Hi, if the hernia is uncomplicated, it can be performed by a general surgeon. Also, it depends on the size of hernia, the defect whether it needs a mesh and other co morbid conditions. Please weigh before you decide, its difficult to comment beyond this. Regards.
Avatar f tn It does look a bit large, I would run the kitten to the vet and see what they say about the risk of the intestine twisting off and getting necrotic. If the risk is high, they might suggest surgery now. If the opening into the abdominal cavity is large there is actually less risk than if it is just a tiny opening.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn Within an hour after my auto accident I was diagnosed by CT that I had a hernia in my upper stomach where my surgery (cabg) was 5 months prior. No pain or bulge prior to accident. Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have been dealing with a, what the doctor says, is a small sliding hiatal hernia found via endoscopy. I feel like the hernia is much larger than the 2cm he saw on the scope. They make you fast 24 hours before scope which tends to make the hernia "slide" down. Anyway, I have learned self adjustment techniques that help push the stomach back down. It doesn't last long on me but helps. The acid burn is control well via Nexium.
18663 tn?1198171815 They will have to take the baby from my side and there are many risks because of that. My insurance will NOT approve the hernia surgery because it is in Portland which is 4 hours away from me. I get approx. 70 bubbles a day (where I have to push them back in). They are getting harder to push back in.
Avatar n tn If factors like straining activities, constipation etc persist, then they enlarge faster. Surgery is the treatment opted for when the size is large and hernia is symptomatic. Having said that, I would also say that the earlier it is repaired, the better it is. There are belts available for umbilical and paraumbilical hernias which you can wear to minimize pressure on the hernia. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn A Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated medications are not the best treatment for insomnia, but rather Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is better. CBTi is safe in the long term, is less expensive, has no side effects, and treats insomnia at the root cause instead of just trying to "knock someone out" like medications do. If you go see a sleep doctor in person, CBTi is what they will recommend.
Avatar f tn I think that the kind of hernia surgery you are looking at it is a relatively simple surgery, as far as surgery goes. I don't think the dog will have to be put under deep anaesthesia, the procedure is something that is done close to the surface, and it is a fairly quick operation. I would expect a healthy dog to recover well. Your boy might have some activity restrictions while he is recovering, to keep him from pulling the stitches loose and undoing the procedure.
1926971 tn?1682474897 The cardiologist advised me that Grafting surgery is very problematic and overly expensive. EECP was required with Life style changes. Please advise what's best as B(negative) blood group being very rare alongwith diabetes could be very hazardous and also told me me that EECP would reverse PAD blocks as well. Help sought. Note: Been smoking 2 packs and more since 1970 and am running my 60th year.
Avatar m tn Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?
Avatar n tn If you are truly concerned that it is a hernia, then I would get a second opinion, this might help settled your mind more, but as I said, from what you said was discovered on the CT scan of the gall bladder, it appears it does need to be removed.
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!
Avatar n tn That is a very good question. I too have COPD/emphysema. I am needing my teeth extracted, so I can get false teeth. Maybe someone can answer our question.
Avatar m tn I have already planned the surgery to fix the hernia for next week . 2 days ago I had an ultrasound which showed that I have gallbladder sludge and maybe some very small stones . I never had any pains in the stomach and the only thing that might be a symptoms is some digestive problems . The doctor advised that since I am going to surgery for the hernia I should proceed with the removal of the gallbladder .
341655 tn?1240368839 Yes. The surgery for a hiatal hernia is the Nissen Fundaplication, where a portion of the fundus is wrapped around the esophagus in the area of the lower esophageal sphincter. As for the type, 90% of all hiatal hernias are sliding hernias, not paraesophageal, so it's probably a sliding hiatal hernia that you have.
1103592 tn?1274753561 hope the birth goes well and is not to painful for you! But at least it is not one of the tummy ones cause they can rupture with contractions.
Avatar n tn Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.
Avatar f tn I need gallbladder surgery in the near future. I have abdominal meshing and want to know if they can do laproscopic surgery on me or not. ANYONE have my issue?
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
