Common Questions and Answers about Is evista generic

evista

Avatar n tn Is there any drug interaction between these two drugs ? I am taking Evista for Osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn I wondered about the connection between Evista and Ovarian cysts which have also been mentioned "together". However upon further researching and talking with my Gyn., no real correlation has been found. Also, Evista is an Estrogen "blocker" . It has been shown actually to prevent some types of breast cancer..I was placed on Evista 8 years ago after some suspicious mammograms , which fortunately turned out to be nothing.
Avatar n tn This to my knowledge is not a side effect of this type of drug. You might discuss it with your Oncology Team at your next appointment. I would doubt that a side effect would appear after months of administration. As a rule side effects appear during the first few weeks and often subside after a few months. This may be due to something entirely unrelated to your Cancer situation so you might take it up with your Primary care Physician. Regards .....
Avatar f tn he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.
Avatar f tn The Evista is suposed to help with osteoporosis as well as cut my chances of ibc in half. Since I am prone to hot flashes, doc prescribed Effexor, an anti-deppresant known to combat hot flashes to take along with the Evista. I hate the idea of taking a med to offset SE's caused by another med. I was hoping that my flashes would be gone by now so that I wouldn't get a double whammy of them when I started the Evista. But I think valuable time is going by.
Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar n tn Hi again, In addition to all the good information zouzi provided, IF you are postmenopausal, there is a second drug, Evista, that has also been approved for prevention of invasive breast cancer. It is also used to reduce the risk of spinal fractures related to osteoporosis, which is a plus for some women. (It was during studies of the use of Evista to treat osteoporosis that researchers noticed that among post-menopausal women who took the drug there was a lower rate of invasive breast cancer.
Avatar f tn My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
492490 tn?1255405372 As I have only been on Carbo/Taxol (6 cycles), Taxol (maintenance 9 mo, failed) and Gemzar for 9 months and recently failed that too. What is the next best option for a 44 yr old, stage lllc patient? Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn I am not sure which medication your mother is taking, but Evista (raloxifene) can cause muscle cramps of the legs. Please have your mother make an appointment with her physician.
Avatar n tn Two lymph nodes were involved, I had a lumpectomy, lymph node dissection (l5), chemo, radiation, and tamoxifen followed by evista, which I currently take. My mother and her sister both had breast cancer (neither died from cancer). No one ever suggested I have anything but a yearly mammogram, always negative. I am most concerned about my daughter, who is scheduled for the MRI guided biopsy Feb. 20. I also wonder if I should be getting any tests other than the yearly mammogram.
1134609 tn?1269272200 It has been an interesting process, but I think I have finally figured out the medication issues. Here's the lay of the land: 1. I have always been sensitive to medications; they either work for me or the SEs are unbearable. 2. I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years.
Avatar m tn We had the same issue with 2 of our female Dobi's (Reagan & Taylor). Reagan, poor thing, got the worst of it. Apparently, some breeds are more susceptible to it than others. What happens is, when they get fixed, they're basically losing the ability to make estrogen, which is needed for muscle development.
Avatar n tn I have improved symptom-wise except when under stress. However, my Amylase continues to be elevated and I am concerned, as is my doctor, about chronic pancreatitis leading to pancreatic cancer. I do not drink Alcohol and have not for 20 years. Can you offer any ideas for cause of the pancreatic enzyme elevation and treatments?
Avatar n tn I am having a biospy sterotatic biopsy April 22nd, of four clusters of microcalcifications. The radiologist also said, I have other calcifications scattered in both breast that are not clustered. If we are taking the biopsy of only the clusters what can be done for the other scattered ones and what are causing these microcalcifications? Can I help to prevent them? I also wonder if I will have problems with my breast after the biopsy, bleeding or infection.
Avatar f tn I researched Evista online and found that it is linked to increased risk of ovarian cancer and stroke, in addition to other nasty symptoms I have never experienced (including hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia). I am afraid to take this drug, too, and don't know what to do. Has anyone else been in this situation?
7991152 tn?1396061810 Levoxyl is not a generic. It is a brand name, just like Synthroid is. It comes from the same manufacturer every time you refill your script. Think of them like Coke and Pepsi. Both are brand names. Both are colas. Some people like one better than the other. All the other "colas" you can buy are like generic levothyroxine. Though all are cola, each has some difference ingredients in it, like dyes, etc., depending on who makes them.
Avatar f tn My whole weekend is going of like this since a month. It is making me weak. Doctor gave me an antibiotic but again next week it recurs. Body aches mostly knees and ankles [ i suffer through osteoporosis and joint pains too but the pains were not troublesome earlier] Can anyone tell is it viral or anything else.
535882 tn?1396576685 NP is a generic Amour. it's made like the old Amour was made before the reformulation,(TO the NEW Amour) it's cheep ask for it , might help, give it a try, most docs/ insurance love it because its a "so-called" generic but really it's a Acella pharmaceuticals, brand /copy of old Amour, works for me.
Avatar f tn Atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) is a medical condition in which the cells which line the milk ducts of the breasts experience abnormal growth. This condition is not cancerous, but an incidence of atypical ductal hyperplasia can indicate an increased cancer risk for a woman. As a result, doctors usually recommend careful monitoring and follow-up in patients who have exhibited atypical ductal hyperplasia in one or both breasts.
Avatar f tn to be tollerable. Now I start Evista for lcis and osteoporosis. That is supposed to cause flashes. My doc says Effexor and Clonidine will help flashes. I do not want to take Effexor, and Clonidine may lower my blood pressure too much since I am already on two blood pressure meds. I will try the Evista and if get flashes again, I may just stop. I read magnesium helps, so I tried. It did help quite a bit, but unfortunately, if you take enough, you get diarrhea. Some choice.
