475555 tn?1469304339 An APRI score of 0.6 is pretty low. My biopsy in Feb. 2008 was F1/F2, and my APRI for then was only 0.5. So maybe an APRI of 0.6 could correlate with a biopsy of F2. But don't forget that none of these tests is that accurate. Both biopsy and APRI, as well as Fibroscan and all the others, are really just aids. And they are most useful as time studies, comparing one time point with the next (in the same test). When you say Fibroscan of 3.3, do you mean the kPa score of the scan?
Avatar m tn edu/page/clinical-calculators/apri If platelet count (APRI) is normal then you should repeat Fibroscan...but if platelet count is very low (APRI high) then I would go straight for biopsy...
Avatar f tn And congrats on finishing treatment.Your ALT are low which probably means your AST is higher than ALT. A good indicator at eot is if your APRI score is equal to 1 or more than 1.And that is what it looks like in your case.
Avatar m tn Active HCV infection is frequently associated with low total cholesterol. Once a patient clears the virus - SVR - it is not unusual to see cholesterol levels increase. That's likely what is going on with you.
Avatar f tn 0.5 and 1.5. That is, an APRI score of less than 0.5 means no or very slight fibrosis, and an APRI score of more than 1.5 means cirrhosis. The intermediate scores approximate the intermediate fibrosis stages. I have now calculated my APRI score for the seven blood tests done between 2006 and now, and the graph of the scores shows a steady progression from early to later stage fibrosis, which is apparently what has happened. That is, I'm a fast progressor (65 years old, geno 1b, etc.).

975514 tn?1324997938 org, that describes the benefits of low dose Naltrexone [LDN]). It is also thought to act by restoration of the body's normal production of endorphins, and this is thought to be the major therapeutic action of LDN. Although Naltrexone is an FDA approved drug, LDN has not yet been approved by the FDA. Some patients apparently benefit from LDN, and there is a list of testimonials. There are, however, some cautionary declarations about LDN: 1.
Avatar f tn It's supposed to divert your immune system away from the bacteria. The thinking is that your body's immune response to the bacteria is what is causing your symptoms and that it is fighting a losing battle. It's a new treatment they say it has great success. It's pretty much the opposite of how we have been fighting the disease. However, I'm leary of essentially turning off my immune system towards the bacteria. Anyone try this with success?

Avatar f tn Thank you for replying! The first dose of Ponstel was miraculous. I was finally pain free. Took dose #2 about an hour ago because I want to be pain free or I won't sleep. I would say I'm at pain level 2-3 now. So not to sound stupid but does that mean you can't go on the pill or IUD? I've been on Microgestin 1/20 for three months and it's been a disaster. Non stop bleeding. My periods are horribly heavy normally. I am 41 and they get progressively worse.
Avatar f tn s 100mg, to put that in prospective when you take aspirin for a headache you take 600mg.
683167 tn?1302879300 the problem with low dose naltrexone is there are no real studies been done to prove its affect ......... I know one person who started to take it and she said it took a while before she noted any affects about 6 months i think my memory isnt good any more. IF it makes you feel better after taking it could it mean that the drug makes you feel worse when you are taking it if you get my meaning? Sorry not very clear even in my head lol. This is a good web site all about it. http://www.
