She needs to stick it out and if her bp does not come down in a short period after starting, she needs to go back to her doctor. They have to get that number down. She's at stroke level blood pressure! I will tell you that I feel so much better now that my bp is controlled and I didn't even know my high blood pressure was making me feel bad prior. The medication prescribed to me is Avapro HCT 150mg/12.5mg (Irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide) taken once daily (1 tablet) mainly to help ensure the blood pressure remains under 140 systolic, which is believed to help reduce the pressure on the aorta and root. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's. I take Vyvanse and also duloxetine 1 time daily also, could those be helping my bp stay high?

How long have you been taking Losartan? We encourage you to check back in iwth your doctor about this to discuss. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety.
My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80.
So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.

I recommend you take your blood pressure (hopefully you have a home monitor). If it's been a couple hours from when you normally take your pill, the pill should be working and your blood pressure should look like the pill is doing its job. But if your blood pressure is very high when you take it whereas it is normally normal with medication, it's a strong possibility you skipped taking it.

I am too scared to take the new med as I read 5 mg is equivalent to Metoprolol 100mg. I am scared to take in the night due to the fear of hypotension and low pulse rate. But the doc assured that nothing would happen but I am too scared to take an initial dose of 5mg Bisoprolol straightaway....
