Common Questions and Answers about Inner lip blister mucocele

lip

Avatar n tn I have a pimple like clear round blister inside my lower lip. I'm concerned that it is herpes, a cold sore. It heals but it is still there, it comes out again. Should I be concerned or could it just be a mucocele?
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to repeated trauma to the lip and if it is present on the inner side of the lip then mucocele can be a possibility. It is usually inside the lower lip, under the tongue or the inside of mouth and caused mainly by biting the lips or trauma during eating of food. Usually it goes away on its own. But if it does not, then corticosteroid injections and surgical removal by scalpel or laser are done by a dermatologist.

Avatar f tn 3 days later I developed a blister on my upper inner lip. I thought it might be HSV-2 related from the oral and bought acyclovir cream. As far as I can recall I have never suffered a cold sore before. I am generally in good health and in terms of oral hygiene I sometimes experience minimal bleeding post brushing my teeth. I do not recall any gum bleeding that night. It has now been 13 days post exposure .

Avatar n tn Mucoceles are usually found within the inner lip and may be small ,slightly fluctuant reddish to whitish bumps in the lip. "The size of oral mucoceles vary from 1 mm to several centimeters. On palpation, mucoceles may appear to be fluctuant but can also be firm. Their duration lasts from days to years, and may have recurrent swelling with occasional rupturing of its contents." Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucocele Other differentials will be cheilitis.
Avatar f tn I will just pop the blister and it will go away for awhile, only to return at some later date. They are mostly on my inner cheeks, close to the gum line. I know they are not canker sores or herpes. Anyone have a clue what this could be? Is it something that people with autoimmune disease get? I've looked at websites to see if anything they describe is similar, but so far nothing.
Avatar f tn The next day I developed a sore throat , achy limbs, fever, and felt flu like. 3 days later I developed a blister on my upper inner lip. I thought it may be herpes and bought acyclovir cream. It has now been 13 days, post exposure , my symptoms settled few days ago but the blister on my lip persists. I have compared it with google images of herpes and it looks nothing like those. I am wondering if it is a mucocele.

I just started to notice it one day, but noticed it got a little bigger since. I've tryed to poke it with a needle, but nothing.
Avatar f tn I am a 70 year old woman who, two months ago, developed a blister-like lesion near the edge of my lower lip. I thought it was a fever blister (as I am subject to these.) However, it does not act like a fever blister. It is hard, sore and does not appear to contain anything other than clear liquid (if that). It will not drain or dry up. Do I need to see a dermatologist or is this something that will eventually heal itself? I've used Abreva on it, but that has no effect.
Avatar f tn Hello, This lump can be a fever blister, small cyst, hematoma, mucocele (if present on the inside of lower lip) or a benign growth of the lips. Since the lump is not changing in size, all these possibilities need to be evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I have a small fluid filled blister on the inside of my bottom lip. It has been there for over a month now. I am not sure what it could be. It gets really big and I pop it because I can barely chew my food without biting it. It has a clear, gooey liquid in it and sometimes a little bit of blood. After I pop it, it is small for a day or so then it puffs up again. My mother in law suggested I use allum on it.
Avatar m tn Hello, yesterday I felt what seemed to be like a really really small bubble on my inner lip, It was not painful or anything , it was too small to even find on the mirror it took me about 2 minutes with major lighting to locate it , I then popped it with my teeth and it felt like a bubble pop but after I popped It I felt a slight slight pain for about 5 seconds and that was it , pain might have been just anxiety or something, after that it was even harder to locate it since it was really small, w
Avatar n tn Also, the blister popped the same day that it appeared and was gone for a couple days until today when it reappeared in the same place. My cold sore in the corner of my mouth is gone.

Avatar n tn A couple weeks ago I got what appears to be a blister on my gums and another spot on my genitals. The blister fills and turns yellow throughout the day and must pop and go away when I am sleeping. So I went and got tested again. The results came back negative again. I have had not had any kind of intercourse during this time frame. I guess I am wondering if the test could be wrong or could I have another problem?

Avatar n tn Mucoceles may be tiny to slightly large fluctuant( not really hard) nodular growths found in the inner side of the lip. Is this similar to your case? They may be secondary to trauma such as frequent biting of the lip. Another differential will be apthous ulcers or cold sores. However, these usually present as erosions or ulcerations. Do not try to pop this as this may only aggravate the condition. We do not want this to get infected. Mucoceles are benign and may persist for some time.
