3210170 tn?1346884553 Inguinal hernia repairs are usually either the most common or the second most common procedure performed by general surgeons in practice. I would think that your primary care made a specific referral based on excellent service and outcomes in the past.
Avatar n tn If there are complications, such as the presence of an inguinal hernia, an incision is made in the groin area. This approach allows the doctor to repair the hernia or other complicating factors at the same time as correcting the hydrocele. Some surgeons use a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach to repair a hydrocele.
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
Avatar f tn Hey has anyone had a robotic Hernia surgery done before? I have two inguinal hernias and I wanted to know if the recovery time is quicker than a traditional laparoscopic? Thanks!
Avatar m tn There was no bulge, but I told my doctor it felt like a hernia. He gave me an exam and told me that it was a small inguinal hernia. I scheduled the surgery to have it repaired, but while waiting to have that done I would occasionally have this discomfort on the upper-left side of my scrotum. It felt like it was my testicle, and would knock the wind out of me if it brushed against my leg, but when I would feel them there was no pain in my testicles.
Avatar m tn When he was 6 years old he did orchiopexy surgery then 2017 pediatric surgery did laparoscopic surgery and found a right inguinal hernia . However, this hernia was never detected in ultrasounds, MRI's or CT's scans. After his surgery the pain got worse. Since 2017 he is having this pain on and off. Now, 2021 the pain is extreme and frequent it's daily at a level 9. He describes the pain likes pins and needles. He is having the pain in bilateral - groining area- femoral area as well.

Avatar m tn I hard a hernia repair end of May this year laparoscopic in the right inguinal side. Since then, food has been a bit tough to digest. For example, coffee, milk products. I don't know if it has to do with it. Now where the hernia used to be, it looks a bit swollen, and it's hard compared to the other side. Is that normal, or its just scar tissue. Finally, I also now have a hydrocele in the right testicle.
Avatar f tn Hello. I am a 36 y.o. male. I had an inguinal hernia repaired 2 years ago. I was an open surgery (not laparoscopic) and repaired with mesh. I have not had what I consider a normal, healthy bowel movement since then. Stool is loose, often floats and stains the toilet (leaves streaks after flushing). Most BMs are urgent and occur 3+ times/day. There is sometimes a burning feeling while going and it is often difficult to wipe clean.
Avatar m tn (back pain, testicle pain, groin pain, what seems like butt muscle pain especially when you sit for a while, bend over, or warm up before the game, all associated with the same side of the body usually), let me guess, when you play soccer/football you are right footed : ) ? my advise see a hernia specialist as soon as possible because it could get serious....
Avatar f tn In inguinal hernia sometimes prophylactic neurectomy of the inguinal nerve is done to prevent post op pain. Recent studies have indicated that neurectomy results in pain relief in about 72% cases. Postop complications are also very less. You can consider this option after discussing with your treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi, it depends on the extent of meshing that needs to be done. Laparoscopic hernia repair involves the placement of a mesh inside the abdomen without abdominal wall reconstruction. The mesh is fixed with sutures, staples, or tacks. The recurrence rate of the laparoscopic repair is reported as equal or less than that done with the open approach. So, discuss the possibilities with your doctor. Regards.

Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar n tn Im going to see my doctor tomorrow, but I think I may have Inguinal hernia. What is the recovery time for it? does it go away completely?
Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery a year ago, not too long after the surgery i realized that it was back. I didn't think anything about it, but the past month I have had really bad pain, worse pain than when I got it fixed the first time. The doctor just used permanent sutures the first time, is there any way that I could have this surgery without having to have the mesh screen put in this time? Also, my abdominal muscles are separated pretty bad, could I ask the general surgeon about diastasis repair?
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar m tn so you can imagine nowadays with advanced surgery procedures like laparoscopic surgery and all that good stuff it does not hurt, you won't feel a thing and there won't be any scars....trust me go see a doctor as soon as possible, they will be able to answer all your questions, and like i said before be wary of hernia's developing later on in life because i'm 24 now and i just developed a hernia 18 years after my surgery working out doing sit ups and playing soccer....
Avatar m tn Surgery is the only treatment and cure for inguinal hernias. The surgery is best performed as an elective surgery with all the adequate precautions, to prevent recurrence. As we do not maintain a directory of doctors in this forum, we cannot recommend any specialists. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a indirect inguinal hernia , but mine doesn't go down into my scrotum but goes upward pulling on my testicle cord. When it's out in its full glory, it's the size of a grapefruit and hurts pretty bad. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Bottom line I went into get gallbladder removed now I need OPEN Hernia surgery to repair inguinal hernia. (My internist agrees the gas probably pushed the hernia out. Painful bulge, burns sometimes, but seems to go back in when I sleep and pops out next day.) Can gas cause this and if my surgeon read prior scans (he didnt) what could have been done differently. I am sure I am not the first patient to have suffered from gas-induced hernia.
Avatar n tn I got operation on 11/30/2011 for multiple inguinal hernia. Bilateral scope surgery. I had this hernia for over 15 years. As of right now I feel tenderness and throbing in my left scrotum. "the same EXACT pain i had when I had my hernia" I was constipated for about 4 days. after 4 days I was ok using restroom. I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
Avatar f tn So I had a inguinal hernia repair about 2weeks ago on my left side and everything has been going good I hope I’m just a really worried person on account that I try not to do much ...
Avatar m tn After an inguinal hernia repair ~1 year ago, I am still experiencing erectile dysfunction and weak ejaculation. No issues whatsoever prior to surgery but issues immediately after. In the surgery report it said they had to sacrifice the genitofemoral and ilioinguinal nerve branches due to severe adhesion to the hernia. Post-operation I have not since had "morning wood" and have experienced somewhat of a decrease in size (both flaccid and erect).
Avatar m tn Several weeks ago I noticed a soft movable lump in my right groin area. I have a history of a right inguinal hernia which was repaired appx. 27 years ago. My physician thought it not to be a recurring hernia but rather a enlarged lymph node and placed me on antibiotics and ordered a Ultrasound of the right groin. The ultrasound suggested it to be a complex cyst.
Avatar n tn Hey I also had a inguinal hernia, I believe my car accident caused this. The problem was I am female so everyone thought it was an ovarian cyst and I actually had laproscopy only to have the bump come back in a month. Turns out he cut the hernia open. Even with ultrasounds and ct scans they couldnt see it because you have to lay on your back. Finally after 9 years of pain I had surgery and it was so worth it. You will have pain till you heal.
