Common Questions and Answers about Infection of outer ear

infection

Avatar f tn They are localized, therefore hardly absorbed into the system but still it seems they are not safe? I had an outer ear infection for 8 months with my last pregnancy, and seem to have a reoccurence this one (I am 8 weeks) My OB didn't want me to take anything with Hydrocortisone in it, but every single outer ear medication has it in it. It's not an awful infection, actually less symptomatic than last time, but is it bad to let an infection go untreated?
Avatar f tn Can an ear infection develop after putting a finger in the outer part of the ear (tragus area) ?? If so, what is the incubation period please?
Avatar m tn I get a feeling of warm fluid in my outer ear several times a day that lasts for less than 5 seconds. I have no other symptoms. It began near the end of my 2 week antibiotic treatment for Impetigo, which is all cleared up now.
674702 tn?1236335386 Ear wax is not a reason for causing dizziness but looking into the ear when someone complains of dizziness is quite normal. Ear infections that can sometimes be evident in the outer ear can cause dizziness. Pain or irritation in one or both ears; swelling, redness, discharging mucus, scaling, and crusting can be seen by looking into the ear canal and are all signs of infection. Fever also accompanied with any of these is a definite sign.
Avatar m tn I have had a severe problem with ear infections in the outer ear. I get it severel times a month, and have taken antibiotics, but it always comes back. It is eating away at my ear, but my doctor just keeps prescribing antibiotics. The ear does not produce any earwax, and I have been told by a different doctor, that the lack of earwax can be the cause of infection. Is there something I can do to stimulate the production?
Avatar f tn Ear canal infection too can cause redness of the pinna of the ear. Extreme hot and cold temperatures of the environment too can cause ear redness in some. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn But i starting having pain across my schoulders both sides and top of spine behond head. Pain in outer ear and behind ear lobe and under jaw. And top of head. This pain comes and goes.
Avatar f tn I have heard one of the ways of this happening is by an infection in the ear. Now about a month ago I had Otitis Externa (outer ear infection) which was really painful and took about 2 weeks to completely clear up. I have really itchy ears at the moment because I have eczema inside so I am hoping thats all it is. I am scared that maybe there is a bit of infection left in the ear that didn't completely clear up and that it will go to my brain. I know this sounds silly but im so so scared.
Avatar f tn impacted wax, swimmer’s ear, middle ear infection, fungal infection of outer canal, boil in outer canal, pinched nerve, benign intracranial hypertension, blocked Eustachian tube as seen in cold and sinusitis etc. TMJ, sore throat and tooth ache can cause referred pain to ear. It is difficult to diagnose on net. Please consult an ENT specialist. Taking care of the cause will take care of the lymph node swelling too. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. In your case in all probability it is the outer ear infection.
Avatar f tn It can be due to an infection, injury to the ear and peripheral neuropathy. If the burning is external is could be due to some allergy, inflammation or infection. It is best to go to the doctor and get examined. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. I sincerely hope it helps Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn My dog has a mild yeast infection in her left ear but she may have a tear in her eadrdrum. The vet gave us TrizEDTA but due to her losing her hearing from Tri-Otic, we didn't want to use any more ear medication that can cause hearing loss. I've recently started making her home cooked meals, wipe her down with apple cider vinegar+water, and flushing her ears out every other day plus cleaning the outer part of her ears on days I don't flush.
Avatar f tn I consult ENT 3 more times, they are preferred antibiotics,I used antibiotics at the time it is cured few days then again repeated.present I fell pain in left ear inside and outer side of the ear down part and I fell neck pain and left chest pain ,left hand pain also...my age is 29years old. .I feel very bad..please give me good suggestion.
Avatar m tn As a result I accumulate a large amount of liquid in my middle ear that is not going away. As well, my tinnitus that was relatively minor has become unbearable. I can hardly sleep at night, and that is with a fan and noise machine. How long does liquid remain in the ear after a viral infection? Will the tinnitus subside if the liquid goes away? How does a viral infection cause both of these conditions? How can I treat the liquid if it fails to resolve?
Avatar n tn t know if its like ear wax or an infection of some sort. The ear looks a little redder than the other. I don't have enough money to take it to the vet so I was wondering if you could help. Here is a link to the picture. http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr267/goodyboy313/2.

Other lumps in neck could be a lipoma, neurofibroma (collection of nerve and fibrous tissue), a ganglion or a cyst. An ultrasound would be diagnostic.
Avatar n tn i have had numerous outer ear infection and an ENT doc told me to put 3 drops of white vinegar in each ear canal ever other day. since then i have not had a single ear ache.

Avatar f tn If you have swollen glands in the neck region only and ear ache then it could be due to tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Avatar m tn There are many reasons why you may have an enlarged lymphatic gland -- ear infection, sinus infection, tooth infection, etc. Often they indicate the onset of a flu or the common cold. If this is indeed an enlarged lymphatic gland, there is nothing to worry about and nothing to do. If the gland becomes bothersome, usually a warm pack applied to the gland, with some acetaminophen will ease the discomfort. Many people swear that vitamin C helps fight infection.

Avatar n tn My husband has a different sort of ear problem, with a susceptibility to fungal infection that responds very well to ear drops of a weak solution of vinegar in water. The fungal infection is pretty easily diagnosed by an ear, nose and throat specialist, so if your symptoms seem to be changing you might want to consult one of those.
Avatar f tn Hey! Ever since March I've been experiencing problems with my middle and outer ear. 1) It started from a simple middle ear infection of the right ear that went untreated for a month. After going to a doctor, I got amoxicillin pills for 10 days. The symptoms went away but came back pretty quickly. 2) May: I went to a doctor again, they took samples from my ear and the result was Enterococcus faecalis bacteria.
