They are localized, therefore hardly absorbed into the system but still it seems they are not safe? I had an outer ear infection for 8 months with my last pregnancy, and seem to have a reoccurence this one (I am 8 weeks) My OB didn't want me to take anything with Hydrocortisone in it, but every single outer ear medication has it in it. It's not an awful infection, actually less symptomatic than last time, but is it bad to let an infection go untreated?

Can an ear infection develop after putting a finger in the outer part of the ear (tragus area) ?? If so, what is the incubation period please?

Now about a month ago I had Otitis Externa (outer ear infection) which was really painful and took about 2 weeks to completely clear up. I have really itchy ears at the moment because I have eczema inside so I am hoping thats all it is. I am scared that maybe there is a bit of infection left in the ear that didn't completely clear up and that it will go to my brain. I know this sounds silly but im so so scared.

In your case in all probability it is the outer ear infection.

It can be due to an infection, injury to the ear and peripheral neuropathy. If the burning is external is could be due to some allergy, inflammation or infection. My dog has a mild yeast infection in her left ear but she may have a tear in her eadrdrum. The vet gave us TrizEDTA but due to her losing her hearing from Tri-Otic, we didn't want to use any more ear medication that can cause hearing loss. My husband has a different sort of ear problem, with a susceptibility to fungal infection that responds very well to ear drops of a weak solution of vinegar in water. The fungal infection is pretty easily diagnosed by an ear, nose and throat specialist, so if your symptoms seem to be changing you might want to consult one of those.
