Avatar m tn my lower left jaw became swollen and numb after a tooth infection. three day ago.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you may have an infection, it could be due to a wisdom tooth or a bad tooth. It may possibly be an abscess, you need to go to the emergency room you may need antibiotics. Left untreated you could have worse issues.
Avatar f tn If so what can they do? Or should I go to an ENT for the infection in my jaw area or someone else? I just want it to go away and feel like I've been dealing with this for 2 months and am tired of being on antibiotics with no relief plus don't like what the antibiotics are doing to my body.
Avatar n tn When the anaesthetic wore of I had the most excruciating pain in the tooth and jaw. I went to my dentists and told him about the pain and he game me amoxycillian 250mg for 5 days and took out filling, re cleaned the tooth and filled it. The pain continued after taking 5 antibiotics and 400mg ibuprofens. Went to A&E early hours of morning pain so bad. Went back to dentists he took out my tooth and said I did not need antibiotics anymore as infection if present will drain out.
Avatar f tn am I right in assuming that the removal of my wisdom tooth may have caused the infection from the tooth in front of it to spread? I have a tingling feeling through my entire right side of my jaw, up to my lips and below nose. my neck and jaw are swollen and I noticed some blotchy redness... if I don't take nurofen and Panadol the pain is unbearable and stretches from where the infected tooth is to my ear, to the front of my mouth and under my nose. I also have a head ache...
Avatar m tn Is the pain and swallowing becoming more difficult? You may have an infection that either resulted from the extraction or is coming from the other tooth that isn't resolved and thus spreading and getting worse. Are you on any antibiotics? I would recommend seeing your dentist and getting a prescription to slow down the infection if that's the case.
Avatar n tn If I am not mistaken, there is a nerve series that runs on the side of the face from approx. the temple to the jaw bone that can become inflamed with dental work/infection, and for reasons unknown. I believe this is seen more often in people with MS. There have been treatments successful in relieving the pain. I cannot recall the name of this pain as the word is a little lengthy. You really should not have to live with pain. Perhaps Google, facial nerve pain or dental, facial pain.
Avatar n tn The wisdom tooth removed was in my left jaw, and the related pains were in my left side. While the pains were there, I didnt notice any swelling in my thyroid. I also had slight pains during swallowing during this time. Now my jaw and side-neck pains have gone, but for I am continuing to have slight trouble swallowing. It feels like I am trying to yank my entire trachea during the swallowing reflex. Also I am having this swelling in the front of the neck below my adam's apple.
Avatar n tn I WENT BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS FOR A FOLLOW-UP AND THE RESULTS FROM THE BIOPSY OF THAT AREA. IT REVEALED I HAD A BONE INFECTION IN MY JAW BONE. I WAS SENT TO AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE DOCTOR WHO PRESCRIBED IV THERAPY (AT HOME) FOR 6 WEEKS. I DID THIS EXACTLY AS I WAS TOLD. I WAS JUST ABOUT PAIN FREE FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS. AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST.
Avatar n tn 16 months ago I had a root canal on tooth in lower right (3rd tooth from back). Everything seemed fine until a few months ago...started getting intermitent pains. Went to endodontic. Examined and took xrays. Could not seem to find the culprit. He even consulted with other endos during my visit. Put me on antibiotics, which did not help. After more xrays and a consult with a periodontic, it was decided I would have an apicoectomy.
Avatar f tn Even though if you still having pain then you can use jaw strengthening exercises or jaw stretching exercises to get relief from jaw pain.
Avatar n tn i have been on antibiotics for 5 days for a tooth infection. The lower part of my jaw and my neck in the last 2 days have become extremely swollen and i am having a hard time swallowing. I have an appt on thursday for surgery but it seems the infection is getting worse. Should I go to the hospital?
Avatar n tn so I had the tooth extracted. week later, STILL pain in the jaw line around the extracted tooth and now in my jaw joint. I now think it must be an infection in my jaw bone from the original root canal.
Avatar f tn i have a really bad tooth infection, how do i know if it is in my blood stream and what are the effects it will have on me?
Avatar m tn He stitched the area and I was given two sorts of antibiotics, in high doses, to combat any infection. After 5 days I still have a very swollen cheek and gum. Also my jaw hurts at the hinge when I try to open my mouth the most I can open is 1/2 inch. Most worrying is the hard swollen area at the left hand point of my jaw just below where the tooth was extracted. Is this normal or do I have a problem.
Avatar m tn 5 days after the filling was done, I was still getting a lot of pain from both the tooth and my lower jaw. The tooth that was filled is extremely sensitive to the cold air test and the dentist suspects that there may be an infection in the tooth and has put me on a course of amoxycilin. (This seems plausable as there was a 10 day delay between my old filling breaking and being able to get it fixed). However I am still experiencing terrible pain in my lower jaw.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on tooth 15 and this is my 3rd week of clindamycin and I keep feeling this tingling feeling from my cheek bone to my jaw on the side where the tooth was infected. I guess there was a bad abscess. What could this lead too if not properly taken care of? I'm concerned the infection is in my bone.
Avatar n tn Hi there, for 3 weeks I've had a terrible tooth infection. The first few days I fobbed it off as I'm scared of the dentist but started to hurt so bad I couldn't sleep. So, went to dentist and she couldn't see anything wrong, even with the X-ray but put me on amoxicillin and arranged another appointment.
Avatar n tn The pain is still mainly in my jaw but I have noticed that hot/cold causes the pain in my jaw to intensify so I am not sure if the pain in my jaw is just pain radiating from my tooth. Any thoughts on if it is just a pulpitis situation and may calm down without further work being done? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Now I have exactly the same thing on the other side of my mouth. It is in the lower jaw/ bone/tooth. They said it normally is in the upper teeth. Has anyone got any answers? I am 200 mile from a Dr This discussion is related to extreme tooth/jaw pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, I need some advise regarding my teeth. I had a root canal done on my tooth 19th maybe about 3 years ago. 2 years ago my gum swelled because of pus & infection therefore the dentist did another root canal to remove the infection. I found out last sep. that there's some infection underneath that same tooth again, but because of some complication with insurance i didn't do anything about it till now. This time there's no swelling or pain or any sort of discomfort.
Avatar n tn What can I give my dog to help reduce the infection in her tooth before her appointment to have it removed?
Avatar f tn ) The dentist said i need a filling after x-rays and not in the teeth that was feeling sensitive but in one of my molars way in the back of my upper right jaw. They said the cavity started from the inside of the teeth. I didn't believe this but i am not a certified dentist so i let them do their job and allowed them to drill a hole in my teeth and do the feeling. After that my tooth started feeling funny and my tongue would always end up feeling the area where they put the cavity.
Avatar n tn t realize the jaw joint pain was an infection. No one seems to know anything. The endodontist is in a town 2 1/2 hours from here, so I must make up my mind quickly. Can you help? Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn Immediately after I got electric sensations in the tooth that went away. A couple months ago i was having pain in that tooth while chewing. An xray said possible root tip infection. THey cut me open and found alot of infection, cleaned me out and sewed me up. Everything was healing fine and i was ok for over a month and now when i yawn I'm getting weird mildly leectric feelings shooting along the roots of my molars on both the top and bottom on my left side.
Avatar f tn I have problems with numbing tooth in lower jaw and am waiting for an extraction on the NHS under GA When I saw a consultant he said it was always possible to get numb with a local anasthetic but I am not imagining this, it is really painful. He has put me to the bottom of the list as he feels my dentist could have removed the tooth under a local. Is it because I have some complicated nerve pathway ?
Avatar n tn Still no pain in the tooth or the one behind it; but severe pain in the jaw and ear and glands in the neck. The dentist wasn’t very optimistic about a root canal and said that was an option or having it pulled, I chose to have it pulled; but wasn’t sure which tooth needed pulled. She said the one that had a cracked filling; the tooth might have a crack in it.
