I do think that continued high blood pressure can cause kidney problems. You've had this going on for quite awhile now so it's time to do something about it. Most Drs will do nothing if ***'s below 139/89, because it's pre hypertension and they want you to try and control with it with less stress, diet and exercise. But 160/100 is hypertension. Solace gives you great advice. Get more reading so they can take an average.

A few thoughts, first off, the blood pressure units at most drug/grocery stores are very inaccurate. They simply are not reliable as they have been used and abused. High blood pressure is diagnosed after three consecutive readings (not in the same day) over 140/90. Prehypertension is anything over 120/80 and under 140/90 which is considered high blood pressure. Normal is under 120/80.

Hello, I am new here and I had high blood pressure 3 weeks ago, I have been going through the recent months, and I took some food supplements, my blood pressure was 220/120, doctors gave me medicine for it, it was Atenolol 25 mg, when I take it I feel good and my bp becomes 130/80, but I need to know is my hpb temporary or permanent ?

It is here :) I have diastolic dysfunction and yes my diastolic pressure is higher or more of a concern than my systolic pressure, though both are high. The muscle mass of my left ventricle does not relax during the diastolic (filling) phase, which creates high left ventricular diastolic pressure.

Hello, I am very concern that I have uncontrolable high blood pressure, even with meds.

the only medications i take is a blood pressure/water pill and cholestorol medications.... what can cause this and does anyone on this forum have the same situation...

If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.

I have had high blood pressure through out most of my pregnancy i am now 35wks. I started swelling really bad last week and at my apt yesterday my blood pressure had jumped even higher to 156/90. My mid wife didn't seem concerned at all she just re took it and made my appointments weekly now. I can't seem to get rid of a head ache ive had for a couple days. Should i be worried???

I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.

Your bottom number is a little high but not horrible! I am 35w3d and I have had constant high blood pressure since 26 weeks. Its always around 165/94. Since its been constantly high, I see my doctor every thursday for an ultrasound to check the babies heartbeat and fluid, a non-stress test, and a chat with my doctor! I also go in every wednesday to do blood work to check for preeclampsia. This week will be my 4th time doing it.

I get high blood pressure when pregnant (this is my second pregnancy) it just happens. I'm fit and healthy and continue this during pregnancy and have hardly any salt in my diet.

cervix is still close which is fine with me no hurry lol but dr informed me that my blood pressure was high so he restricted me from work nn put me to rest...but I'm wondering if this means I'm getting induce? They help curve my nausea too. Ive never had high blood pressure from too much salt however in my past pregnancies(like in last trimester)if i ate them too often my feet would swell up pretty good. At this point its hard for me to ignore cravings. Sometimes your body craves what you need but just try to eat whatever it is in moderation.

So the last few weeks when I go to the doctor my blood pressure is high (can hit 160/110) so each time he sends me to l&d blood work is normal and the last visit was the only visit without protein in my urine. He said he could induce me on Tuesday which would make me 36+4. At last visit baby was measuring 7.7 lbs. I have also lost my mucus plug. I also have gestational diabetes. My question is would u be ok woth inducing this early. I am afraid to make the wrong decision.

Hi... can anyone tell me if high blood pressure can cause shortness of breath? I just had it tested and it's 191/120 with a resting heart rate is 111... I'm asthmatic, but this is not the same.... I just can't seem to catch my.breath, especially when I've done very little excercise(walking) Thank you ...

I was sent to l&d yesterday by my ob because my blood pressure was high it was like 149/94 and i had protine in my urine. They kept me for a few hours and ran tests and took my blood pressure every 15 minuets it finally dropped down to 117/76. Im due tomrrow and just worried because i know shes not going to come and they said i wont be induced untill sometime next week and i woke up with a pressure headache feeling like im going to vomit.
