Avatar n tn Bites on the ear - the cartilage in the ear is more susceptible to becoming infected from an insect bite. Follow the precautions as above to prevent infection, but also be sure to use warm soaks from the start (instead of only if an infection sets in). If it does become infected, see your doctor. You may need antibiotics sooner than normal bites. Brown Recluse spider bites - this particular spider bite can form a large purple irregularly shaped blister surrounded by a red ring.
Avatar m tn Now this year it has happened again, and another specialist again has diagnosed it as insect bite. I do not under stand why insect bite would happen in the same part of body twice (it repeated on a much lesser extent in feet also) !!! The Doc has suggested me Fluticasone creame, an anti allergic (levocetirizine ) and an anti-biotic. Please advise what I gotta do, and is he treating it as insect bite really!?
Avatar m tn A week and a half ago I had an insect bite on my right big toe and a few days later was stung by a jellyfish on the back of my left knee. The insect bite caused blisters around the site of the bite which eventually burst and appear to be healing. The jellyfish sting was painful and itchy, then oozed a lot, and is now drying out and fading. The question I have is what are some possible reasons I could be having additional rash continuing to spread on both legs?
Avatar f tn Woke up Saturday morning with an insect bite on the side of my little finger. Finger and base of finger is very swollen, feels like a fully blown up balloon. Avatar m tn I have some type of insect bite (I believe spider) on my stomach that has only gotten larger and itchier in the past few days. I've had all types of insect bites and stings before but never had this reaction. At first, the bite was slightly elevated and red. It was about the size of a quarter. Over the past few days, it's spread out significantly and is still elevated. It's about the size of 3 quarters. It's also dry and bumpy and has gotten more red.
Avatar n tn I had what appeared to be an insect bite on my hand between my pinky and ring fingers. After a couple days it grew into a pus-filled blister-like growth. Once it popped it began to ooze pus, and smaller growths developed beside it. It has not scabbed over and continues to ooze, and there are now two smaller bumps beside the original sore. What could this be and how can I treat it?
Avatar f tn It may also be a normal reaction of the skin to the insect bite as insects carry chemicals and substances with their bites which may cause a skin reaction. Try to get rid of the spiders. I suggest you need to clean up your place or hire someone to do pest control check in your place from time to time.Wash your linens and beddings well and check on the corners and cabinets where these spiders may reside.
Avatar n tn For the last couple weeks, I've been getting continuous insect bites. They are small, reddish bumps on my skin that are mostly appearing on my arms and legs, and they itch like a flea or mosquito bite. They itch for about an hour, and then fade after a day or so. I shower daily and wash my clothing regularly, so I have no idea where this is coming from, and they appear throughout the day. Shortly after the bites started appearing, I spent a week visiting my boyfriend in another city.
Avatar f tn A red circle round a bite is a hallmark of a bite from an insect transmitting Lyme disease. It resembled a "bulls-eye". In such a case an immediate regiman of antibiotics is required to prevent a lifetime of misery. The bulls-eye will disappear so it is important to get it looked at IMMEDIATELY by a physician with experience in treating Lyme disease. Immediately means as of yesterday. Not an appointment a week from now.
Avatar f tn Hello, These blisters can be due to insect bite or contact dermatitis. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible and do not wear any socks. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn The blood was coming from a tiny laceration that must have been an insect bite, but there was no sense of pain there. I washed it off and used alcohol to sterilize it best I could, but I could very clearly see it was already starting to swell. Here I am five or so days later, and it has shown no signs of subsiding. It's a bright red bump that itches fiercely, right on my knuckle. It looks similar to a mosquito bite.
Avatar n tn it may be an insect bite like an ant or spider they can cause small simptoms like rashes or puss that can lead to Impetigo
Avatar n tn Also if she is having swelling then an allergic reaction due to an insect bite and the various systemic conditions esp involving the heart, kidneys and liver have to be ruled out.I would suggest that you request your mother to show herself to her doctor as it can be confirmed only after examination. 1575223 tn?1296010236 The lesion could be an infected nipple, an insect bite, a localized demodex infection, a traumatic wound, or any number of other skin problems.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure. It could be a bite from a spider or insect or it could be a cyst or it could be staph. Since you said it was red and hurt it sounds like its infected so I would go and get it checked out, you don't want any infection getting into your blood stream and it affect the baby.
Avatar f tn This summer I got 3 different insect bites on my legs, each bite developed into red, itchy, swelling and warm to touch with 2 days. Each time I called my doctor and he said it's a combination of skin infection and my allergic reaction to the bites. Each time I'm prescribed with antibiotic and it has helped me. However, while I was still taking antibiotic for the 3rd bite on my legs, I got a 4th one on my ankle.
Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, insect bite or infection of the hair follicles. Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.Application of calamine helps in soothing the skin.In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.
Avatar m tn From what you have described, it is more likely that these petechial lesions came from the insect bite, since the insect saliva have natural anti-coagulants and can disrupt the integrity of small blood vessels. I would agree with a watch and wait approach for now, but be sure to inform your doctor anything that you may experience (bleeding gums, black stools, etc.) Regards.
Avatar m tn Yesterday I developed a rash about mid way up the lower part of my front leg. It occurred about 1 hour after cycling and right after I was in a community hot tub. It started with no pain. I just looked down and happened to notice it was there. It is about twice the size of a silver dollar red in color and blotchy. It has now been 24 hours and while the rash hasn't changed it is now quite sore a burning sensation. which is getting much more intense.

Avatar n tn Your itching would have been from histamine, btw. You probably have some infection since before the insect bite, maybe in the GI tract. That initial infection could have resulted in systemic inflammation. Maybe you should get a CRP test. Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure you'll be relieved by the results.
1716637 tn?1309969408 Hello, It is very rare for insect bite to persist for so long after bite and the skin thinning to be present even years after the bite. I suggest you that you get it examined from your dermatologist and get a biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
