Induce vomiting dog peroxide

Common Questions and Answers about Induce vomiting dog peroxide

vomiting

Avatar f tn Hi! Generally, using hydrogen peroxide is the safest way to induce vomiting, i it's done immediately ater ingestion of the toxic substance. However, at this point I hope you took your dog to your vet or ER vet. Please let us know how your dog is!
Avatar n tn Once given, walk your dog around or gently shake the stomach area to mix the peroxide with the stomach contents. Vomiting should occur within 15 to 20 minutes. If no vomiting occurs, you can safely repeat the three percent hydrogen peroxide once more. Chocolate is toxic for dogs. However, I have known dogs who ate chocolate with no bad effects to them at all! But best not to take the risk. Your dog will throw up, then a little while later, will feel perfectly OK, and probably hungry again.
Avatar n tn com/blogs/fullyvetted/2013/may/how-to-make-a-dog-vomit-30304 The dose of Hydrogen Peroxide is 1 milliliter (ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide per pound of dog weight, using either the syringe or teaspoon. One teaspoon is approximately five ml. The maximum amount of hydrogen peroxide to be given at any one time is 45 ml, even if a dog weighs over 45 pounds. This is best administered to the back of the dog's mouth using a turkey baster but please beware if it is made of glass!!
Avatar f tn If you want to empty him out, however, if it has been less than two hours since he ate them, induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide 3%. Give 1 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight. Walk him around or rub and jiggle his belly to mix up the ingredients and vomiting should occur within 15 to 20 minutes.
Avatar f tn But making him vomit might be right(if you had called the vet and the vet said that was okay to do) To make a dog vomit use 3% Hydrogen Peroxide Give your dog one teaspoon hydrogen peroxide per 10 pounds (4.5 kg) of body weight. There is clear information here about what to do to make a dog vomit -and when to NOT do it: https://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Dog-to-Vomit Always take the dog to the vet after it has thrown up, just to be sure all is well and get it checked over.
1544053 tn?1328691992 You can induce vomiting if the chocolate was recently eaten. You add salt to water and have dog drink it (even forcefully) and it doesn't take much to cause the dog to throw up. My dog accidentally ate children's chewable tylenol when she was a puppy while I tended to my sick child. (child proof wrapping is no problem for a determined dog---- who had climbed on a table and gotten into my purse!
Avatar n tn BTW, the way to induce vomiting in dogs is to administer hydrogen peroxide, the same bubbly stuff that you buy at the drugstore to disinfect wounds. There are a lot of sites on the web that will tell you how to do it, if you google "inducing vomiting in dogs," but it is probably better to ask your vet on a routine visit when you are there for something that is not an emergency. I had to learn how when my dog ate rat poison.
Avatar f tn I found him with it AFTER he ate the pickles. Are pickles bad for a dog? Should I give him peroxide to induce vomiting, or will he be fine?
Avatar n tn Should I take him to the vet, or wait it out a bit? Should I try to induce vomitting with a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I had one of my dogs do that, and I had to induce vomiting to keep her from being harmed. (Fortunately I saw her do it, just not close enough to grab her before she snarfed it down.) Even if your dog didn't get into rat poison, something is wrong that needs to be diagnosed.
Avatar n tn Take the dog to the vet before the drug gets into his/her system. They will probably induce vomiting and use charcoal to absorb the "poison" the dog has consumed. But you should take him asap; the sooner he/she gets this out of his/her system, the better.
Avatar m tn s too late to induce vomiting now. Did you try calling one of the Poison Control numbers listed at the top of the Forum? I'd be on the phone with the Vet or at the office !!
228686 tn?1211554707 Hey folks, this came up on the cat forum; I thought I'd post the answer here as well since it's dog relevant as well Chocolate contains naturally occurring methylxanthines caffeine & theobromine. The concentration of theobromine is much higher than that of caffeine, but both cause toxicity in cats (and dogs). Dogs are likely to be at greater risk, but mostly because they tend to eat more when they get their paws on it.
Avatar f tn Yes, you need to get her to the Vet ASAP. Who knows what she ate and dogs often come diwn with bad cases of Pancreatitis which is painful and can be life threatening!
Avatar f tn I suggest, take him out for a walk so he can eat some grass and induce vomiting, allowing him to barf out more of those things.
Avatar n tn If your dog was my patient I would have him come in for observation. If necessary, I would induce vomiting and give supportive therapy: IV fluids, injectable gastro protectants, charcoal, etc. Don't waste time! Take him to the vet.
1786778 tn?1314987818 I was told by a vet to give her a tsp of peroxide to induce vomiting. Unfortunately she did not vomit....however she has been acting like herself and has not lost her appetite. So as of right now everything is okay. Honestly I haven't seen if she has pooped lately but I'm going to assume she has...its difficult to tell since we have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes.
Avatar m tn Peroxide prolongs healing, you should not bathe your dog with it. My other dog Cujo, also has mange a year ago. My vet gave him 3 sessions of mange shots and prescribed shampoo. He got better in just 2 weeks. Treatment depends on the type of mange and the breed of your dog. You can use anti-parasitic shampoo. I suggest you go see other vets in your area. Where are you based?
Avatar m tn This could be something more serious, of course. Any chance your dog may have ingested something in the house or outside? Is the dog eating, drinking, any vomiting or diarrhea, eating and drinking? If this continues and especially if the dog shows any other signs, a trip to your Vet is warranted.
Avatar f tn Missy dog vomits when she eats or drinks. She can only keep down white rice and small amounts of water at a time. Her stool is normal and stomach isn't hard. I am concerned at she can't continue to just eat rice. I tried boiling hamburer and putting a little in the rice but she vomited that too.
Avatar f tn I revealed a open wound with a black bump. I have since rinsed with hydrogen peroxide and dabbed with neosporen, but Im scared. This has been th ere for who knows how long. And what is the black bump??? I have no money for the vet and I just don't want my dog to suffer. Can anyone help us?
Avatar n tn The sooner the dog threw up the rimadyl, the better his chances because it doesn't get into his system. Usually the vet would try to induce vomiting but your dog already did this on his own. Maybe you should ask your vet about possible kidney problems. If your dog is a large dog, that also helps. Hope he is alright.
