Increased alcohol use on cymbalta weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Increased alcohol use on cymbalta weight loss

Avatar n tn I gained about 30 pounds since starting antidepressants. Prozac was a big culprit. Last year I was put on Cymbalta. It helped me maintain the same weight for the most part. It is supposed to be good for weight maintenance. I have never gotten back to my original weight, but at least Cymbalta did not have me gaining.
Avatar n tn food didnot taste right, depression, waking all hours of the night, weight loss, the list goes on and on. The weight loss had to be the a blessing and a cruse I went from 168 on a womens 5' 7 frame to 136 and still loosing about 2 to 3 pounds a week. I did enjoy it the first 15lbs but now I am too thin and want to stop. However it does not matter what I eat or how much I cannot gain. Ohh well it is the price I am willing to pay to be migriane free, and live again!!!
Avatar n tn Just an update: Started Metformin on January 5. As of today, I lost 11 lbs with no exercise. Hoping to lose more...
1042487 tn?1275283499 Oh i did search google but i found no serious studies and only one study tested on animals and it didn't include Duloxetine or any SNRI and basicly they said it could reduce the effectiveness of the anti-depressant treatment. I just think it's like alcohol, i drink on Cymbalta on week-ends and it affected me in no way.
Avatar n tn Hello. My Dr increased my Effexor XR today and I'm hoping it will help me lose some wieght. From the research I've done, including this's confusing, some lose, some gain. This is my story. Last February (2006) I started taking phentermine for weight loss. I went from 175lbs to 150 lbs in a few short months. Unfortunately, I have always had some struggles with depression but had never been on medication for it before.
Avatar n tn I was really excited about talking to my dr about welbutrin because I thought it was an anti depressant along with all these great side effects (weight loss, increased sex drive). Of course I would love increased sex drive and weight loss but I really want to not feel so depressed.
Avatar f tn The causes of insomnia, varied as they may be, can contribute to memory loss. In my case, it's a stressful job, caffeine use, occasional alcohol, chocolate, crazy work hours, lack of exercise, marital discord, parenting, it's is a no-brainer. Remove all that crap and I'll sleep like a baby, right? Still, it seems like a chicken or the egg. I can't think clearly, it bugs the **** out of me, and I'm depressed about it. What causes what? Is it just a prolonged case of caffeine withdrawal?
Avatar n tn how long before you noticed the weight-loss? I have been on it for about 3 weeks and have not seen any difference. I am still stressing, ver sensitive to everything, and have trouble sleeping. I do noticed that I am not as hungry as I used to be and I do have a little more energy. Please somebody respond!!
Avatar n tn It's been about four years since I was on Effexor. I didn't gain any weight until the last nine months on the drug (I was on it for about three years). My husband said I was becoming manic, but I refused to believe him. I finally realized he was right, so slowly went off Effexor (it's like going off of heroin). As I mentioned earlier, I gained weight in the last nine months. My weight hadn't changed in twenty years . . . and in nine months i gained 30 pounds. I was shocked.
Avatar f tn Klonopin can cause weight loss or weight gain, depending on the individual. In me, it caused me to lose about 50 lbs. (and I am not a big individual). It also caused depression, decreased appetite, blurred vision, ineffective digestion and insomnia (it affects stages 3 and 4 of your sleep). I would highly recommend that an individual get on anything other than Klonopin (or any other of the Benzodiazepines). These are some of the most addictive drugs on the planet.
Avatar n tn The med has worked wonders on my depression, but has played havoc with my weight. The Dr. says it won't put on weight on by itself. He says I'm feeling better and this is why the additonal pounds due to eating more. My consumption of food has decreased and I'm eating healthier foods. Yet, I still put on the pounds despite exercising 45 minutes 3-4 times a week. I don't under stand this and what to believe.
Avatar f tn I had talked with my doctor about the shot possibly having an effect on my weight since I had not changed my diet and exercise routines and had unexplained weight gain. She assured me that weight control was only dependant on calories consumed versus calories burned and that I must have changed something without really noticing, that the shot could only potentially increase my weight by 5 pounds in a year.
Avatar f tn Adderall does list that it can create a feel of false well-being, so you do have a right to be concerned. It also seems to be more common than uncommon that weight loss does occur with people on Adderall. Since your friend is only 5'3", her weighing 119 pounds is still within a healthy range, and losing 6 pounds in 8 weeks, is also at a healthy rate. But it is something that does need to be watched... because it is easy to abuse. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I also think if you exercise and try to eat right you can cut back on the amount of weight you may gain. Lastly, depakote tends to cause less weight gain in men than women. That was also per a study I read from one of the universities. If you google mood stabelizers and weight gain you might find some of the same studies I found. Best of luck!!
Avatar f tn Anyone out there take ultram/tramadol? This drug has turned me into a tramadol prisoner. I am having a hard time stopping and I know I need to . I have taken this for a long time. First, I was prescribed this med and then I found other ways to get it. Knowbody knows I take it as much as I do. Anyone....have some advice?
Avatar f tn He never warned me of the side effects/withdrawals. He put me on Cymbalta, which wasn't much better. I then went on Lexapro, which didn't help at all. Right now, I am taking Prozac. I have had depression for about 8 years, and have taken numerous medications for it, and the only one that seems to help is Prozac. A couple weeks ago, I started to feel normal again. It had been about 6 months since I stopped taking effexor.
Avatar f tn it's like my body has shut down and will not respond to any efforts of exercise or diet to lose weight (and I use to work in the weight loss industry in upper management, I know a thing or two about that topic). Just do yourself a favor and DO NOT EVER go on this drug.
Avatar n tn This means you may be at increased risk of serious side-effects, and should closely monitor your progress on these medications with your doctor.
1684282 tn?1582660848 Opiate prescription has increased 6 fold from 1997 to 2007 and has been accelerating since. There are better (in my opinion) treatments for chronic pain that are much safer than opioids, such as physical therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, anti-depression medications, and treatment of underlying psychiatric illnesses such as depression and anxiety, dietary and life-style changes, etc.
Avatar n tn Zoloft has more results for weight gain Effexor has results of weight loss and Paxil Wellbutrin and Cymbalta have had less complaints of weight gain ****
Avatar n tn My doctor told me it was a mood stablizer, never referring to it as being used for seizures, migraines or weight loss. I discovered those things on my own. I discovered the weight loss on my own too. It was shocking to one day be walking through the mall and realize..."Hey these shorts don't fit me I need to buy new now." It was crazy, and the beginning of a weight loss journey that was incredible. If anyone wants to know about they can write me back.
Avatar f tn It bothers me alot that my hair is falling out but for now I'm staying on the med because I'm not on it for the weight loss I'm on it to controll my migraines. It does that very well. There are other sites that you can tell about your side effects, good and bad that you can look into. Some people dont say anything about weight loss but hair loss. Good luck !and Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hi Sallie, I am not on the med (yet). I have been on Cymbalta for a little over a year for depression. I have since gained about 15 pounds (in addition to the other weight I had gained on prozac years earlier). After complaining about this common side effect of antidepressants, my doctor said he normally recommends 1 of 2 meds to help combat the weight gain. One is Glucophage (normally prescribed to diabetics to control sugar absorbtion) or Topomax.
1469903 tn?1286650297 • high amounts of glucose in the urine, which leads to dehydration and causes increased thirst and water consumption; • weight loss despite an increase in appetite; • fatigue; • nausea; • vomiting; • bladder, skin, and vaginal infections; • blurred vision; and • lethargy What is diabetes? Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels, that result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both.
Avatar n tn hello i was just put on that topomax last monday starting @ 25mg. do you have to be on a certain diet to lose weight from this medication. can someone help me out please.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi and Welcome Tramadol Warriors, Please come on in and make yourself comfy. All are welcome.
544292 tn?1268886268 I stick with it because I remember how the T-train caused INCREASED pain all over my body, in places I never imagined I could have pain. I stick with it because I can remember what it was like to be in the FOG of TRAM, to walk into a room, and forget why I was there, I stick with it because I would rather not get killed on my motorcycle from being too fogged to care what I was doing.
5100586 tn?1363648354 Anyway, I am feeling better today thank goodness. Unfortunately, I have had to go back on my cymbalta, a lower dose, and am going to taper slowly from that. But I was starting to feel a bit better on my own anyway, which was wonderful. I will definitely take thish slowly, and hope I don't end up in this situation again. I will NEVER EVER EVER NEVER take a lyrica again in my life.
Avatar n tn For me, the symptoms lists sounded alot like what Cymbalta did to me. Some do well on Cymbalta; some don't. It (Cymbalta) was a nightmare for me, and yes, I also believe it brought on a real uptick in just about uncontrollable anger (even tho I was really sick with fibro and a really bad, long acute Epstein Barr experience and other personal events).
